The greatest boxer of all time. No other boxer achieved what he did. Hagler for me was the most technically efficient. Tyson was the scariest. Marquez the most professional. Chavez the most dangerous. Barrero the cleverest. But Duran gave everything. He feared nobody. For me, the sweetest punch in boxing history was when he floored Davey Moore with his right. Yep! THE GREATEST.

Ring magazine has been around since 1922 ranks Roberto Duran, the greatest lightweight in boxing history number 6 greatest fighter of all time and 3 on the pound 4 pound grates that’s how great he was

Im so glad to grow up in their generation . These boxers. Were warriors of the sport. They were all champions . And they gave their heart and soul . They were great entertainers. And they are surely missed . RIP.
Roberto Duran vs Marvin Hagler was his first fight in middleweight and he goes to the 15th round with the mest midddleweight and also when he fought thomas hearns there was a big difference of age btw them😂
@@Torgo1969exactly I honestly think you could make an argument he was greater than Leonard. He had no business being in the ring with hearns lol, but he was a true warrior.
Also very important yo mention he did the impossible when he beat "The blade" Barkley at 40 years old in one the biggest upsets of the sport, iran Barkley became.champ knocking out non other the hitman hearns, making him a lethal fighter, duran beat iran with a combination of skill and sheer force of will.
He beat Barkley on a split decision , and his second fight with Hearns , Hearns to me beat him, but knucklehead judges gave the split decision to Barkley .... Hearns and SRL beat Wilfredo Benitez and they also beat Duran .... But "El Radar" Benitez took duran to school with impressive counter punches and head movements, beautiful victory by Wifred , who should be king #5
I completely forgot this. He fought 'Macho' Camacho at 50! At the end of Duran-Leonard 1, I was the only guy in the room that thought Duran won. Leonard was massively popular, and much of the press described Duran (at that time) as kind of a thug that the pure boxer Sugar Ray was supposed to out point.
Soon after Hagler's bout with Mugabi Leonard was sighted selling his autograph at a bicycle store whereat he purchased a 'shiny new'. Yup, the same one that millions saw in the ring, he rode off on after stealing the victory from Marvin. Down the road, to Leonard's credit, he did admit to his FAILING. Nonetheless, because of this fight, to this day any mention of him that is favourable is met with my righteous derision. Otherwise, I join in with the MOCKERY!
Dominated the 70’s and made encore appearances in the 80’s. As for getting knocked out by Hearns, he beat Barkley who whipped Hearns twice. As for “No Mas”, he had to take a shit, what’re you gonna do?!
Barkley did not whip Hearns twice , first fight Hearns gave as much as he took but lost by tko, but in the second fight Hearns whipped Barkley but the blind judges gave the fight to Barkley in a split decision victory .... Hearns & SRL both beat Wilfredo Benitez, but El Radar Benitez beat Duran
@@rafaelramirez1507exactly, theres too many fake fans of boxing who are only here to support their race. That's fine but then they start twisting facts.
Yes, mostly definitely should be considered one of the greatest light- weights. Tyson & even that idiot " Mayweather" understands greatness & recognized his skills / craft. Awesome champion 🏆. Blessings to all in that weight class that he fought in. Loved watching them all. Great- champions.
He's top 5 in my opinion. To be 5'8 and fight and beat very good opponents at 160 during that time by walking them down is crazy. What he and Pacquiao did while being the smaller fighters is crazy.
It's hard to find the words to adequately describe him. Like all the Four Kings of Boxing in the 1980s, he is an immortal legend. He may have the worst record of the Four in bouts between these fighters, but when we realize that he was by far the smallest man among them then we give him respect and honor for the courage he had.
He went to distance with Marvin Hagler, 15 rounds. He got destroyed by Thomas Hearns in a couple of rounds. And he lost two out of three bouts to Sugar Ray Leonard, despite that, he was really extraordinary and fought a zillion fights. He was fierce as a bull. I would love to meet him. All right, who can arrange it?
They don’t make fighters like him anymore. Bunch of clowns now. He fought whoever was there to prove that he was a REAL CHAMPION. Today’s clowns pick their own fights giving all the possible disadvantages to the challengers. Period‼️
Floyd Mayweather Jr. says Duran was 5 foot 6 inches tall and fought from lightweight to light heavyweight. He beat Sugar Ray Leonard when Leonard was considered unbeatable, he went the distance with Marvin Hagler at middleweight, he beat and knocked down middleweight champion Iran Barkley in 1988 AFTER - BARKLEY knocked out Thomas Hearns (who knocked out Duran in 1984). So Duran indirectly avenged his knockout loss to Hearns! In Today's World Duran would've earned 20 belts.
Fun fact. Duran had an issue with over eating amd would blow up to almost 200lbs between fights. He fought SRL in New Orleans and was eating a bunch of Cajun food which made his stomach sour. He was about to crap himself in the "no mas" fight. I probably would have quit to. Watch the first fight and then the second. Its obvious he was jacked up.
His greatest achievement was taking on Iran Barkley at the age of 37 and winning the winning the middleweight title. Sugar Ray and Haggler avoided a fight with Barkley because they saw whet he did to Tommy Hearns Duran definitely was one of the best especially when he was focused.
Definitely one of the best moments in boxing right there. I just posed another Roberto Duran video today if you want to check it out, tho it doesn’t show his best side…
I attended the first Camacho fight, and although Camacho won, Duran punches were so hard that you could have heard them outside the Taj Mahal arena. After the fight I went into Camacho's dressing room, and he was physically spent from the bodyshots Duran hit him with. Camacho may have won the fight, but he appeared to be the most physically damaged afterwards.
Facts! Robert Durant was caught using hard materials inside of his gloves in the rematch with Sugar Ray. He did not have those materials and Sugar Ray put it on him!
The rematch with Sugar Ray was Heavily tilited in Rays favour (similar to Floyd Mayweather fights) Duran was partying hard, and went from that straight into about 6 weeks training camp before the fight, far from his Best… the 3rd was was just part of the Sugar Ray comeback sideshow which would never have taken off if he didn’t get gifted a BS decision of Hagler… Duran Legend
Leonard was a disgrace in my opinion in fight 2! He didn't come to fight and only wanted to humiliate a proud Duran ...spent the whole fight running away from Duran and mocking him! Duran quit because he couldn't handle the humiliation. I'd say he regretted it afterwards...
@@David1000BCWhich shows he's weak and cant take losing, he's a sore loser when the shoe on the other foot. Leonard stunned duran with his punches too, so it was going to be K.O soon.
