Legendary Boxing trainer, Freddie Roach sits down with Dan Patrick to talk about why he took a chance on a little know boxer like Manny Pacquiao. #boxing
@@Balooga1991 Without a great coach, there will be no great fighter, and without a great fighter, there will be no great coach. So thanking Freddie Roach is also fitting.
@@Balooga1991 a diamond can not cut and polish itself, it needs an expert to make it shine brighter... like Pacquiao, he has the raw talent but he needed a coach to make it shine...
@@codeck4442 where the fuck did you guys get those numbers? from your asses? most boxers couldn't afford a day's worth of meal let alone be considered rich. only the top contenders and champions are rich most of them are dirt poor.
@@rakucranel4481Roach is still the head coach by designation, even though his health can’t handle the physical task. That never change, unconditional loyalty. Roach eventually does the analyzing of his match and opponent. There are so many behind the scene in an athlete team. But this days I think he really retired.
If you're listening to the video, Manny just lost a fight and the gyms were turning him down...but Freddie Roach took him. You gotta thank the man. He didn't even think of the money...all he said was this guy can fight.
I know Freddie personally. I was in the army with his brother Pepper at Fort Bragg. Pepper taught me how to box in the early 80's at the Ft Bragg boxing gym. It was good times back then. Pepper and I went to Boston a few times and I met the whole family. One of those trips was to see Freddie fight in the Boston Garden on the under-card of Marvelous Marvin Hagler's first middleweight title defense in 81. I also got to meet Freddie's trainer Eddie Futch that night. Being a longtime boxing fan from down south it was a good night for me and lots of good luck meeting Pepper, Freddie, and the entire Roach Family. They were all very good to me, including all of Pepper's friends in the Boston area.
Freddie Roach will go down as one of the all-time greatest trainers in boxing. His training methods fundamentally transform his fighters into the best that they can possibly be. He can take a solid fight and make them into a good fighter. He’ll take a good fighter and make them great. He’s able to add layers to a fighter’s game that were never there before. He taught one-handed Pacquiao how to use both hands. Taught him the art of movement and balance. How to body punch and stop head-hunting. Watching what he and Pacquiao were able to do together was magical. I love the guy.
Not only a Trainer and Coach bro, Roach is also a Father for Manny Pacquiao for many years, Roach treated Pacquiao like he's owned son. Since Pacquiao didnt expirience a loved and support from he's real biological father. So all Roach dream before when he was a boxer he gave to Manny Pacquiao, so even Roach retired early in Boxing he's Achievements came true to the man Named Manny Pacquiao.
This guy showed me and my family so much love. He didn’t even know us, we walked through the gym door and he took us to the sparring room manny and cotto trained in. This was right after pacman fought Floyd. Roach is a great guy. Treated us like he knew us for years. God bless you Mr. Roach.✊🏿
Yeah your Pinoy Pride just because he got good and became famous, otherwise you would not know him. Manny's achievement is him and for him alone, don't you ever take that from him just because you are Filipinos. It is his own pride and own achievement not yours!
Well, Juan Manuel Marquez also beat all the best Filipinos boxers, including the guy you just mentioned. Pacquiao got put to sleep. The only 8 division chmapoin to get ko
Freddie is doing much better than he was before. God is good. He must have great doctors. Pac was the truth. This shows how political boxing is. Bob Arum passed on the one fighter who made him the most money in his career.
@chicken29843 There is sin in the world, humans commit evil of their own free will that God has given us. Satan and demons that have rebelled against the will of God convinced the first humans to reject God and participate in their rebellion against God and still do to this day. They also entice humanity to reject God's salvation and accept worship from humans in exchange for human sacrifice and detestable sexual ritual acts. Some of the most financially powerful people on the planet are among them. God sent his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to save humanity from the penalty of our sins and reconcile us to eternal forgiveness and salvation if we believe in him.
Mr Roach Greetings from the Philippines🇵🇭 What an inspiring story of not just rags to riches (Pacquiaos) but also of taking risk on people who are seemingly nothing on the outside but special on the inside🙏👍 Thank You So much for taking a chance on one of my countrymen and showed Filipinos are up there with the best of the best💪🥊🥋
who could have guess? that it was a start of something great. you win some you loss some but still coming back for more. did the Muhammad Ali way, he just love to box, and did all those great things. division was made for a reason to impose fair play but Pac can say fvck that wanna fight bigger guys until i cant no more.

I like him because he's been more CONSISTENT than All of the other fighters," said Pernell Whitaker. "Pacquaio is a good fighter The GREATEST Of All Time," said Larry Holmes. "Manny Pacquiao is More Sensational Fighter than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Masterful boxing, like Willie Pep, it was brilliant," said Mike Tyson. ''Manny Pacquiao is The BEST Fighter in the world. Usually a good big man will always beat a good little man, but Pacquiao is a GREAT Little Man," said Marco Antonio Barrera. "Pacquiao had a GREATER Career than Mayweather. "He has a case for the greatest fighter pound-for-pound who ever lived", said Max Kellerman. "He's the pound for pound champion. He earned it from a hard way. He didn't ducked any body, he got it all", said Emmanuel Steward. "This guy stands with the greats and the great pantheon of boxing, in any decades, in any era, Manny Pacquiao stands tall", said Mario Lopez. "We thought Manny Pacquiao was great. He's better than we thought". /// "He's a combination of Ali, Elvis and Bruce Lee. He just got bigger", said Larry Merchant. "The 50'th win of Pacquiao now legendary career", said Jim Lampley.
manny is easily one of the greatest of all time but its just to put him ahead of floyd when not only floyd beat him but floyd still won more major world titles without losing eight times, no two draws and didnt get knocked out three times.
@@mr.brightside6576 he hand-picked his opponents and had alibis to fight manny in his top form. He ‘beat’ manny when manny had a dislocated shoulder rotator cuff. Floy is a hugger and a runner at best.
I see the banners for these interviews on the right column of the RU-vid page. I never open them. However, once I saw Freddy Roach in the title, I was intrigued. It did not disappoint. What a fantastic interview of a humble, decent man. A great American rags to riches story. I encourage anyone watching this segment to go ahead and watch the full interview. It is inspiring!
The best story ever! I could watch it over and over. I admire Manny and Freddie both. God broke the mold on both of these guys. We will never see another like either of them.
I got the chance to meet Freedie Roach and train at his gym every so often. What strikes me as the most interesting thing about Mr. Roach is that he sits there on his stool watching the fighters in old shorts and shirts. You would never know freedie is a millionaire.
Wow, that's a great story. I knew about everything except that Manny was getting ready to go back unsuccessfully to the Philippines, when word of the Ledwaba opportunity came and he took it, and that he was a 60 to 1 underdog. Wow, so close to giving up and fate takes a turn. Knowing that story, it's always so fun to watch the Ledwaba fight again.
My greatest respect and admiration to freddy...they stick together not because they are both great in boxing but because they are both humble and kind with so much love in this beautiful sport-boxing.
How many fighters did they pass on who could've have gone on to be great champions. It's pretty sad that we wouldn't have known who Manny Pacquiao was if it wasn't for that mishap, But mostly thanks to one of the greatest boxing coach to have ever existed that let people know how great Manny really was.
Its the fault of both the fighter for giving up and not working hard enough to utilize their full potential and the coach for being not open minded and dedicated
Freddie Roach and his personal story can never get enough love. I was fortunate to work with Freddie once years ago, and that man is incredible, and I can't say enough good things about him.
He is not only Trainer/Coach to Manny Pacquiao he is also a Father for Manny Pacquiao, since Pacquiao is rised and became a boxing without any child support of he's Father. So for me theres no Manny Pacquiao without Roach because Roach is the only trainer believed that Pacquiao is became Popular Boxer in US many Boxing Trainer Reject Pacquiao before.
One of the things that stood out for me in Pacquiao is his ability to adapt so well, he could change his strategy easily from round to round, and freddie is one of the reasons for that, having a good eye and notion in strategy is as important as standing on both feet
I always have high respect for Freddie Roach who had been a long time trainer for Manny Pacquiao. At a time when many critics talked trash about Roach, Pacquiao was racking victory after victory against top contenders and beating world champions to become himself, a multiple world champion in eight weight classes. Those critics had to eat their words.
The biggest takeaway to me is that so many people will pass over true talent for one biased reason or another. All it takes is one opportunity so keep grinding.
That fight with ledwaba was too unbelievable people yet to witness the beyond unbelievable the true legend and only true goat in boxing that once no one wants to accept in their gym. No other boxer story is better.
Hey audiorama. I think you ought to arrange your videos by sport in playlists. The only thing i care about is boxing. Im sure some only care for one specific sport as well. If i could find more of your content im interested i would watch even more. For all i know youve only had sugar ray, de la hoya, and freddie. Maybe. I hope to find more. But it is difficult. I think it would benefit your channel to organize a bit more. Sure many love all sports but many are particular as well. Just feed back. If theres anyway you could provide a link to an interview of another boxer as im going through hundreds of videos that would kickass. Just providong feedback. Oh also those 3 interviews were spectacular. Much apprexiated
being a replacement to a sick opponent of the South African champ are the first golden chance that lead to cinderella story for manny pacquiao.. sometimes a simple things can shock the whole world..who knows... such an amazing story that was..so beautiful..!!❤👍🥹
