I have an african (female)friend who did this Greeting to me when She visited the Netherlands.

That guy in the left, I like his clothing style.

Note that this is a handshake used in Southern Africa. In West Africa, the click is with the index finger or the middle finger. If you try to click with your thumb in West Africa, no one will understand what you are trying to do.

Best demonstration and hands down beats ALL other wannabe handshakes currently featured on RU-vid, also glad you covered the respect issue as it's so difficult to explain this to others who are not aware of our "African" culture :)

I like African handshake!

When I was in South Africa, I believe someone told me the 3 motions represent Peace, Love, and Happiness. This was 10+ years ago, if memory serves me correctly. I also don’t know if that was one person’s opinion or a universal understanding.

In the Eastern Cape I learned it this way (from a young male perspective, not sure if relevant): When handshaking (especially) a mama or tata: normal => upper clasp => normal, finished When handshaking young people (maybe tata too): normal => upper clasp => normal => pressing thumbs together but snipping the other 4 fingers below, not the thumbs (maybe and Eastern Cape thing?) The elbow gesture is really wholesome :) gotta visit SA again to do it!

You are clearly not too educated on Africa, so ur video is misleading.If ur gonna do an African handshake and make out you are an authority lol, get the area or country in African that uses it right, for example Ghana is in Africa and we do not use this handshake. There are over a 10000 languages spoken in the continent of Africa and equally very different cultural differences, you can't generalise this handshake, back to the classroom I think.

africa isn't a country by the way...and mr marais bribing occurs all over the place just on different levels...i guess ignorance occurs everywhere as well!

I get creeped out when i shake hands with a black guy i meet in a group and they just hold on to the hand for like 5 or 10 seconds and start talking O_O SO AWKARD!!
