After Natalie Elphicke apparently had a road to Damascus moment on Wednesday and defected to Labour, Anneliese Dodds had the pleasure of defending the move. Subscribe to our new podcast now, or you're a silly goose: linktr.ee/pubcast
I wonder how many other Tory scumbags will jump ship to Labour. I find the whole spectacle depressing...and certainly doesn't reflect well on either 'big' party.
@@albertbrammer9263 You should be ignored. Mandleson actually contributed towards putting a Labour government in power. I bet you don't even bother to vote.
It certainly doesn't impress me Jim. I'm not a Labour voter, but quietly hope to see proper integrity when they become the Westminster government to try to address the s***show since 2010. This makes me really quite nervous.
Labour years of frustration if not beating the Tories when they've been handed it on a silver plate. Kinda suggests they weren't actually trying to beat them, they wanted to join them.
If you want 10 highly different political opinions ask 9 left wing voters. When are we going to get it into our thick skulls that the only electable left wing party is the Labour party, and it holds a very large range of political ideologies. The leader went from mega-socialist Jeremy Corbyn to Centrist neu-labour Keir Starmer. We spend far too much time infighting and splitting into easy to defeat little minority parties to ever deal with huge right-leaning monolithic voting blocks like the Tories.
Mosley actually started out with wellbeing politics - even joining the Labour party of the time - looking to improve the housing and health and livs of the soldiers who served under him? (allegedly) and only slid to the right because of exactly this type of behavior wherein the Blue and Red Tories had no interest in the good of the working man? And we are in danger of exactly all that happening again?
@jamesarnold7253 Because if they did there's a chance that Labour would stop moving right. You may as well ask why you don't just give someone the carrot that you're using to make them move the direction that you want. While it continues to work, you keep using it.
This is insanity. We want to give the far right less air time, less legitimacy, less credence. Their views are abhorrent. Allowing this mp into the party is just about the most nuts thing Starmer has done. Absolutely awful decision.
@@Sean-xy4hk Yes he did… So get your facts right. Then when the Tories won the election, he went back. FACT. And the rest as they say is “History”. FACT.
These are our supposed only choices folks. Lying tories or lying Labour. Where ERG members are more welcome than labour members calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
0:35 "People can change their minds" - that is indeed a Labour value, especially if it comes to Sir Keir - he pretty much changes his mind every day until he reaches a Tory position.
Anneliese Dodds is some disappointment: not a scrap of integrity left in her. She'd say Mass now, as we say in Ireland, to retain her now shabby role in the Labour Party of Keir Starmer. I had the pleasure and the honour of hearing her contribution to a Labour Party conference fringe meeting on tax, organised by the union representing senior tax officials. She was on fire. Now look at her.
Exactly what I said "in any time now, little nige will be joining the labour party" then it's like "shh don't give them ideas" Reform,Tories labour all the same now. Lib Dems are looking different, green party is labours replacement.
On reflection I get it, my enemies enemy is my friend and it will have given inaction man a bloody nose. But her vile rhetoric on immigration, LGBT culture wars, and being a Spaffer stooge surely means she has no place in the Labour Party. I give it a few weeks she’ll quietly leave to be an independent MP.
We know it's not because they sympathise with her politics. And we know she doesn't really sympathise with Labour's. It's about giving Sunak another slap, in the political playground, just to show off. But it really doesn't help those of us arguing that Labour aren't Tory light. And if you know that many on the Left will be outraged, wouldn't it occasionally be an idea to consider their views & sensitivities & to try not to allienate them further.
Dan Poulter might be the most egregious. An MP for the ENTIRETY of this disaster and he just swaps kits. Who are the fools in his constituency? Why don’t they read? Can they read?
I hear that Labour are redesigning their rosette and colour scheme. Red is seen as being a bit toos showy, so they will now be a rich royal purple, with hints of indigo. Natalie Elphicke agrees.
They know support of Gaza is gonna cost them dear. So to compensate they reach out to Tories to secure a win! Don’t expect anything from the labour when they are in!
I think it is a smart move. Most people don't follow politics that closely and just see "tory MP joins labour." I most average people dont know thats hes a right wing brexiteer and standing down anyway.
Great move, the MP at the sharp end of the 'boats problem' decides that Labour have a plan to deal with it, and the Tories don't. She's standing down at the next election, it's symbolically a fantastic move.
Elphicke has already said she is standing down at the next GE and will not contest the Labour candidate. It is a pointless, nothing story , She has been allowed to cross the aisle purely for optics because it makes Sunak look even weaker.
The optics would have been so much better if Starmer had said 'I've been approached by Elphic but I turned her down' and Starmer must know this. Why did he accept her then? He's also in receipt of brown envelopes from the ERG?
Natalie Elphicke isn't going to stand in the next Election, her time sitting on the Labour benches is only a few months or even weeks if Sunak calls a summer GE; considering the exposure this has gotten the Labour Party and the fuss it has caused among the Tories wondering who else might cross the floor of the Commons is a win. If thirty more Tories, who will likely lose their seats anyway, join Labour on the Opposition Benches then Starmer can call for a vote of no confidence and force a general election?
What a bad decision accepting this unscrupulous politician into “Labour party”. It’s not about whether they want to switch and change the country, we know what her ideas of change means. It’s about her values and beliefs aligning, but they do to Red Cons.
@evolassunglasses4673 yes because one person defines the whole party 🤔. Who are you voting for? WAIT, I KNOW! Reform 😂😂😂😂😂 the party getting no seats and relying on TV host who hasn't being able to become an mp 7 times to help them 😂😂
