Thanx for the tip, didn't know there was one.

Just an FYI. I have a 2012 GTL and ride mostly the year around in WA state. Usually drain this very hose about every other month with about the same amount of condensate liquid each time. Does not matter warmer or colder weather here in Western Washington. Still the same. Currently almost 39K miles on the odometer.

I'm sorry, I don't know how the PCV system operates on this engine. I do know that if the engine oil level is too high, oil will reach the air box and then the condensate hose. With automotive engines, if the pcv valve is plugged, oil will reach the air box. I do not believe the 1600 uses a pcv valve though. Automotive engines that do not use a pcv valve will often use an orifice in a breather hose that if blocked will cause oil to reach the air box. These systems also may use a liquid/vapor separator that directs oil that accumulates in the pcv system to return back to the crankcase. If the line that returns this oil should become plugged, oil may then accumulate in the air box. I do not know if the 1600 uses a vapor separator that is prone to blockage. It might be something to check. With some systems, something as simple as a restricted air filter may cause oil to accumulate in the air box. Worn/damaged pistons/rings/cylinders may cause increased blow-bye resulting in oil accumulation. A cylinder leak-down test may be in order if the oil level and pcv system prove to be normal. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I'm sorry, I don't know how the PCV system operates on this engine. The next time I check valve adjustment maybe I'll look in depth at the PCV system. is it normal to take that much fluid from the hose ??

While I didn't measure, this year the liquid from the hose seemed to be more than last winter. Two differences from last winter I can think of that might have affected are the weather and air filter. This winter was pretty mild and temperatures bounced above and below freezing, maybe that caused an increase??? Last Fall I installed a K&N air filter, I have no idea if that had an effect. I drained the hose yesterday and actually measured it...1 ounce, seemingly less than the video. Normal or not, it's what I get. Jim

i was just a bit confused , I always check my pipe since I read all the stories of people having water / oil coming out of the pipe , then ending up with blown engines , I have never had anything come from mine , now just turned 5500 miles and still bone dry,

I'll probably turn 30,000 miles by the end of the week. No oil or coolant consumption issues. I have just a bit of oily residue with the water from the condensate hose. I'm hoping the water is from the high humidity. Quite a few days during winter and early spring when I opened my garage, the bikes and floor almost looked as if they had dew settle on them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
