Tonight I tried k18 for the first time. My hair is shoulder length, colored, and I use a blow dryer and flat iron every day. I’m also in the heat and sun a lot, so yes, I have some damage. I followed the directions in applying K18 then I let my hair air dry for a half hour before I started styling. At first I didn’t really see much improvement. I had styled my hair as usual with both a hair dryer and a round heated airbrush. I thought......meh....not really different, not worth the money. Then I got out my flat iron and that’s when the MAGIC happened!!!After using my flat iron, my hair became SO shiny and smooth. My hair has never felt this good before......definitely worth the money. They say it gets even better over time.I can’t wait to see it get even better!
Just a lil tip I’ve discovered while using this on my super tangly, curly hair: try to condition and detangle BEFORE shampooing, that way you have less tangles and the conditioner doesn’t interfere with the product 🥰
I just watched another video from K18 themselves, and the reason why one shouldn't be using the conditioner is because the silicones that might bevin there, block K18. So, one can use conditioners without silicones.
@@forisma It's still not recommended though because other ingredients besides silicon can coat the hair shaft and make it harder for the K-18 to penetrate the hair shaft. Sure, it can still work, but at a much reduced efficacy. I personally wouldn't recommend using conditioner even if you are completely stripping it (and how can you guarantee that?) with shampoo after. Idk man, for a product this expensive, I just wouldn't do anything to make it less effective.

K18 is truly amazing! I’ve also used olaplex too for the passed 4+ years but this K18 is boss now. It’s more convenient to use too and truly reverses hair damage. The price is painful but it’s worth it.
Worked for my kinky, thick and curly hair. Loved the product, paid $15 for stylist treatment, bought product for at home use. Must use leave-in conditioner after 5 to 6 minutes. Little to no hair breakage for my colored and relaxed hair after 2 weeks. Yeah!!!
I can really see a difference in the before and after as you described. I have virgin hair but I love K18 to repair the ends of my hair because I work outside a lot and it can get sun damaged which weakens the protein bonds. Has really strengthened it and keeps it healthy and shiny. It's expensive but worth it and is now a HG product. Yay for science :)
I’ve been using this for about 3 months now, and my hair is definitely soo much stronger and my ends are so healthy. I do 6 consecutive washes (I also wash once per week) after getting my hair done and then ever 3-4 washes until I get my hair done again. My hair is also very tangly, but this actually makes my hair softer and even has a “detangling” effect that after a few minutes it becomes much easier to brush through my hair, which also helps to spread the product. Then I go in with a leave in conditioner and brush again! The website mentions that it can have a detangling effect as K18 is activated, even though that effect isn’t intentional. Just an added bonus! I brush from ends to top and separate my hair into lairs as if I was curling it to brush it when wet and using k18!
I just started using it and love it! I use it on my mid length to ends and let it sit a few minutes and use my wide tooth comb/pick to work it through/detangle. Then I use a small amount and work it from root to mid length. I spread out my pumps. I have fine hair and don’t like adding too much of any product.
I just finished using K18 for the 2nd time. Can’t believe my hair feels like silk. Much better than Olaplex. I was worried about combing it out but used the Pureology detangler and my Kerastase oil and it worked great. Amazed!
I love this stuff! It was seriously a game changer for my hair! My stylist also using the “during treatment” step. She sprays another step on my hair before she applies the bleach and that has also made a huge difference! This will stay in the front of my cabinet!

I love the K18. I was nervous too about not conditioning but my hair was sooo soft after. I did mix the K18 with Olaplex #7 and it was like magic. Hair was so silky.

Long time user of both Olaplex and now K18 (since January 2020). Olaplex is wonderful. Love it. Just doesn’t last as long on my hair, it’s something that needs to be maintained. K18 is different, feels different. It truly is a game changer. I use the K18 on maintenance and the Olaplex in between. My processed, fragile, natural gray hair has never been happier.
hi i know your comment is really old but i was wondering what olaplex products do you use alongside K18? i’ve been an avid olaplex user since 2020 but want to switch to K18. i figured i’d only need one or the other but i’m very curious how you utilize both of these products in your routine!
I just finished using k18 6 times. My natural hair color is black and I’ve been bleaching it blonde for 6 years. My hair is extremely damaged. I will say I have less breakage. My hair is shinier and feels stronger. However, after the 6 uses the ends of my hair still feels rough and straw like. But since my hair is breaking less my hair is growing without breaking off. I think k18 is worth it but since my hair is extremely bleached and damaged I think it needs more than 6 uses!
The tangly trick is, you just put it in let it sit and then you can untangle. Don’t brush until after the 4 mins. Once the product had a chance to sit , it will loosen up all the tangles and make brushing the knots out easier.
Well, I didn’t want you to like K18 either with this price point, but I just went blonde for the first time in my life so I’m glad I know about this stuff and thanks to you, I’m confident that it works! I use both K18 and Olaplex on my hair, including the new No 8 mask. I see no reason to give up both, because I did some pandemic era self-lightening that I NEVER should have done. That means my hair needs all the help it can get. On those K18 days, my hair really loves Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream. It really helps with the fact that I can’t use regular conditioner on those days. If I were you, I would do what I did,and look for a way to purchase the 5 oz K18. I didn’t bother with the smaller bottle simply because I knew it would be heaps less expensive to purchase 5 oz for around $100 USD. Because of your rave reviews, I just ordered the Redken Acidic Bonding System to integrate into my routine as well.
Which olaplex products do you use and what’s your hair type? (this is how I want u to word the answer to the 2nd question so I’m clear of what your hair type is - My hair is fine, high porosity and has low density.)
My hair stylist used this on my hair the last time I had it bleached. My hair is naturally straight and silky soft, but after dying it goes a little lackluster for a few weeks. She used this and my hair felt the same as before it was bleached. she previously used Olaplex and it didn't feel as good as K18. K18 said, on their website in the FAQ, that after 4 minutes you can use a conditioner if your hair, like mine is very tangled when wet. My K18 arrives soon and I will try it as directed, and then I'll apply a leave in conditioner. If it doesn't feel great I'll go in with the conditioner. I have the 150ml on order do it has about 50 applications. It cost me £71 so £1.42 per use - not bad at all.
I'm a hairstylist who loves using k18 for all my chemical services. There are many times that I use a conditioner at the shampoo basin after waiting the necessary 4 minutes. The results are perfect every time!

Too pricey for my very thick and combo mixed hair. Like you, my hair DRINKS conditioner, without it knotty, dry and frizzy. i've used K18 for well over a year. I recently did a double bleach process on my previously dyed hair. My hair is in good condition. I have shorter hair and this product is easy to use (WAY easier than Olaplex 3). After 4 minutes, I use Surface Bassu Mask which can also serve as a leave in when used sparingly and mix with a pump (I hate the droppers) of argan oil and get fabulous, soft hair that is not greasy for days. This is a more difficult process when I style my hair with my natural waves. I also use a protein spray from Sally's every few days and a leave in conditioner mixed with water in a continuous spray bottle when my locks are feeling dry.
@@katarinadjordjevic8568 my hair was damaged after bleaching. It has been growing well, but my hair has never been prone to damage. I get trims about every 6 months. No damage, no split ends. Use once after demi color and the next week. I use a mask on after it and just leave it on to dry until the next day.

I am a hairstylist and use the k18 line. You are supposed to use moroccan oil clarifying shampoo, towel dry, then use up to 5 pumps on long thick hair. Last separate the hair into 4 sections use one pump per one section start from the bottom and move up the hair, move on to the next, and so on …it will distribute better. At the end use a wide tooth comb to distribute…wait 4 minutes and spray leave in conditioner - all in one Moroccan oil leave in.
Can I take a moment to rant about products that call themselves „repairing“ but actually just stop further damage?!? If I took my tv to be „repaired“ and they gave it back and said „we just didn’t damage it any further“ I would be pretty peeved!
Preventing damage and not damaging are not the same thing. A more accurate analogy would be taking you shoes to the cobbler to put taps on the soles. You’re not repairing them, you’re not damaging them, you’re protecting them so they don’t become damaged.

I love love love this product. I have coarse wiry thick hair and I even have Keratin treatment and it really doesn’t help. In using this product the first few weeks I saw nothing, I am in week three and the results are amazing. My hair feels like virgin soft hair and very smooth. It looks sleek like I have always wanted. I will definitely keep using and buy again.

Thanks Abbey! I tried it for 6 weeks too. First time, I was wowed. I have naturally curly bc, but due to bleaching it changed to ab curl. After the first use my hair was shinier, smoother, bouncy! Hasn’t been bouncy since bleaching. The ends better too. 2-4 the same. 5th time again even better. And I used less styling product. But I did do a bumble bumble pre poo, invisible oil. Like you without conditioner I also had a hard time. Since bleaching I only use masks though Instead of conditioner. But i smooth it on & wait until it starts softening hair about 10 secs. Then I rake carefully for better distribution. And then I wait 4 min & comb through & apply usual styling products. 6th time even better. Hair looked light and more virgin like. I’ve also been using olaplex for about 2 years now. I had stopped using it a couple times to see the difference and after 2-3 months I noticed hair felt & looked weaker… now after my 6th wash of using k18 I used olaplex the next wash. And hair was still great. Even though I didn’t use the k18. But not as smooth & shiny. While I don’t think one can compare olaplex to k18, one could say k18 is like olaplex along with the best mask. But still that doesn’t do what I saw with k18 with just the first use. I only compare because of price. The price of olaplex and a great mask would total the price of k18. That being said I will continue to purchase both to get a mask in on some washes and give the hair added nutrients. What I love about the k18 is it cuts down on steps. Wash and style. Although I think I will do the bumble invisible oil pre poo. Sooo good. I am also looking for a different shampoo to use with k18 since one cannot use conditioner. The pre poo is great and I also used the invisible oil shampoo balm. But if i don’t use the bb pre poo and use bumble bond repair shampoo , it’s hard to rinse hair as much as I would like. Hair is stiff. So looking for a super hydrating shampoo possibly redkin mega soft? K18 will do the job with just a shampoo but with olaplex you are required to leave in and then for me at least a mask is definitely needed. So while I do plan on using the bb pre poo with k18 I don’t need to to get results.

So I use k18 after lightening my roots for the first 6 washes and then alternate with Olaplex & then I go off it until my next hair appointment. Less hair breakage overall & barely any split ends.

I have super long and thick & coarse hair down my butt (legit below my butt) and Olaplex lasted me AT LEAST 6 uses! How do you use it? Lol. You don’t need this much. Brush it through & make sure your hair is CLEAN & damp. Use shampoo before!
You only need a small amount of olaplex, I was way over using it until my hairdresser said to use far less, it still works great! You can mix it with a little bit of water to make it easier to apply

I’m glad you posted this video. I watched it after my 2nd application of k18 and I’m not completely impressed. Seems like my hair feels like it does if I don’t fully rinse out my conditioner. But like I said it’s only my 2nd time using it so I am going to keep going with it.
That's a good description. But I like the frizz free results and healthy looking hair. I am going to try less product and less of my styling serum or maybe just blow dry with just the k18
My hair was in ROUGH shape after traveling and sun damage as well as going from dark brown to TONS of highlights (many overlapping) within the last year. Am genuinely amazed I have any hair left but … it was not looking pretty. Tangled so fast and about 4 inches of dead brittle sad looking ends. 😭 I used k18 after first round of bleaching and I swear it saved my hair so I decided to buy some more. Just used it again and it made my hair soooo soft and silky smooth. 💖 I put it in for 4 mins then just put conditioner over it. My hair is like hers and just needs conditioner. The k18 still worked af! Can actually run my fingers through W no snags and it stays nice and flowy instead of tangling instantly. May have saved the growth I’ve had this year as I am trying to keep the length. It’s seriously magical stuff, at least for my hair type!💫 I paid so much for the hair colour I have now so this is the price I have to pay to keep it 😆
I have been using this product as instructed and have had significant hair fall out and dryness, specially since it specifies not to condition hair prior to use. My hair is not too damage and I purchased this mostly to strengthen my hair in between salon visits but it just dries it up so much and it smells so much like chemicals. I wish more people would give more honest opinions instead of following the hypes
I think all products doesn't work for everyone. I can honestly say this product did help my horrible damaged hair . It was breaking off and split ends so bad due to thyroid issues. I also continued to have my hair colored. Not going gray naturally lol . My Thyroid is still not controlled but this has helped my hair a lot. Even my hair dresser said whatever your doing keep doing it .
I'm in week 3. Everyone I speak to about it loves it. And everyone is over Olaplex. Olapkex drags your hair down. This does not. Thanks on the tip of adding leave in conditioner after. 👍😁
I’ve used it twice and my hair feels worse 😅 After some research I think I’ve given my hair protein overload..! Didn’t know this was possible but it does has to do with the hair porosity and if lots of your products contain proteins it’s very possible to give them too much protein, which results in dry, brittle, dull hair. I think this is way Olaplex has the opposite result for me!
After watching your video I bought this product. OMG! Love this product so much, thank you for your review. It’s expensive but will definitely be repurchasing. I have very long thick curly colour treated hair that is course, dry and porous. This product works. My hair was soft, curly were bouncy, very easy to brush, not as much fall out and ends don’t seem as dry. I let my hair air dry, I use only one styling product a curl enhancer and that’s it. I needed 3 pumps to evenly cover hair. Already purchased again so I don’t run out. Hands down game changer.

Just did a bleach bath on my already bleached hair to get some pink out of it that I slapped on there on a whim- I knew it was a dangerous move, and as expected my hair felt horrid after. Did a k18 treatment and instantly could run my finger through it, and it is back to silky and shiny. Unreal! Yea worth the money!

I think it would be helpful to see K18 vs Olaplex overall results, price per treatment difference (how often and how much of each product used to achieve similar results). My guess is that Olaplex is good enough. K18 might be better overall, but if you compare the incremental benefits with incremental costs, it is not worth buying K18 unless you have a good amount of disposable income.
Ok, just used this product after freshly purchasing after watching this video. I am a natural brunette who has always colored or highlighted my hair every few years or so for the past 15 years. It wasn't until my most recent Balayage (Sept 2109) that I realized how trashed the blonde/lightened portion of my hair is. My hair has been tangling in the shower which it NEVER did, no matter how blonde covered I was. I have been trying out Olaplex products, however I don't see any difference. So.... I used a WetBrush comb in the shower to get some of my tangles out due to the "no conditioner" rule. I understand the K18 won't penetrate your hair cuticle properly otherwise. I don't understand why they say to only use a couple of pumps... if they knew how much hair I have!!! I am not sure if I should blow-dry and straighten my hair like I usually do or if I should just let it airdry. And maybe I missed this, but how often should I be using this product? I'm wondering when I will see a difference. My damaged hair feels maybe possibly a little less "crunchy" than usual but we'll see!!

I miss my blond hair, but my hair before pandemic all broke off and would not grow. My hair is now just past my shoulders. For the past several months only coloring to cover grey. I want to go blond again, so I just bought this. First use, I noticed a major difference. It is way better than Olaplex. My hair was bouncer, shiner, and felt like silk. No frizz after my quick blow dry with my Dyson and the round brush attachment. I feel confident about getting some Lightner in hair now at end of this month.
This product is THE BEST. I have the most tangled CURLY hair ever and would not have believed that it also worked as a detangler but it does. This woman hasnt used it properly. Im 51 years old and this has transformed my hair. Dont listen to her you do NOT need leave in conditioner.
Im thinking About buying k18 tomorrow. I have been thinking so much back and forth About this product and i feel like im either gonna love it or my hair is gonna hate it and just be so much Worse. I'd like to thank you for your thorough review. I purchased the sample size first to try it before purchasing the more expense full size. I have shoulder length somewhat fine hair. I used it for the second time today and can tell a bit of a difference. The real test was going outside in the mid-summer Florida humidity. After stepping outside my hair is usually a total frizz ball no matter what, but not after using K18. Before I purchase the large size, I want to try Redken's Acid Bonding line. I ordered the sample size to check them out.

I see that a few months ago you have a video using the Olaplex No.8 hair mask, and you seemed to really like it. Therefore, my question is, "Do you prefer the K-18 hair mask as opposed to the Olaplex No. 8 hair mask?"
I know I told you in your bond builder video but I LOVE this stuff! I'm like you, I didn't want to love it bc of the price and I'll be rebuying it too. So worth it! My hair is high porosity, dry and wavy/curly I find I need about 6 pumps per application so no way that bottle will give me 50 uses. I'm someone who would never want to skip conditioner either to detangle so I use a pre-poo treatment prior to cleansing and that definitely helps. I'm a little over a month in. I used it for the first 5-6 washes consistently and now I'm using once a week. I look forward to long term results.

@@kurty95 I use it once a week now but In the beginning they say to use it once every three washes I think. I’ve been using it for a year now. It has brought life back to my wavy 2b hair. However, I also stopped using heat tools and I stopped dying my hair. I have been following the curly girl method.
Brush your hair gently but thoroughly BEFORE washing it. Try not to RUB the hair to cause tangles. Massage the shampoo into the roots ONLY. Then run the Shampoo carefully DOWN the hair, that is….downwards only, not left to right or round and round. You only have to leave the k18 for 4 minutes anyway, then you can apply a leave in Conditioner. I wait about 8 minutes….just to be sure. I then use Davines Milk and Milk Shake Whipped Cream and run it through lengthwise. I have no problems with tangles whatsoever, using this method. Hope this helps.
It's taken me a while to figure out how to use this with long hair that tangles like crazy! Now, I try to oil and detangle my hair before I wash it, then use this, wait 4 mins, then I use a leave-in conditioner and oil. I don't comb it while the K18 is soaking in. It'll break. Hope this helps!

Probably going to pass on this one although it looks promising. I just started using the redken acidic bonding shampoo/conditioner/leave in and oh my word it has made the biggest change in my hair... might I even say better than olaplex?!?! I’m able to purchase the professional line and I’m going to get the acidic sealer and protein amino which from what I hear will be just as great as the shampoo/conditioner and at a fraction of the price of k18. Would love to see a comparison though of this and olaplex 3.

What I love the most is how it smooths my hair without weighing it down, I had a lot of issues with olaplex doing that to my hair. I highly recommend the redken acidic line.
I just started using acidic bonding range too & i love it 👌. I have gone really light for summer so i thought i would give it a go & boy its made a huge difference
That’s what I’m doing. I have the Redken Professional Acidic Bonding treatment, the Olaplex 1 and 2, as well as the K18. I’m rotating all of them. I’m afraid I did something really stupid with my hair and it needs all the help it can get!
After these first 6 treatments, how will you integrate it going forward with your once a week hair washing routine? Every few weeks? That’s the part I can’t figure out for myself (Also once a week-er)
I’m glad K18 is working for everyone else but I find I get major breakage after using the mask as directed. I wash, no conditioner, towel dry with an old t shirt and apply 2 pumps to my long wavy hair. And I get instant dry, hay feeling hair with tangles and breakage. I think it’s the alcohol. My hair reacts VERY badly to alcohol. I have no problem with Olaplex. Shame, because I had such high hopes for K18.
