CORRECTION IT IS ACTUALLY 4^6=4096 WHEEL SETUP PER SKATE

use a higher mounting position for camera so that it's over the product you are reviewing, gives a better view and at the same time makes it easier to present the product I wanted to know your opinion on the LED luminous wheels from SEBA etc, are they good enough or the dynamo inside the wheels makes for a slower ride and lower longevity ? Please suggest one if you know.

Good thorough review. I researched these skates and bought last years model. The boot is very stiff for a "soft" boot, very responsive, comfortable and fit well. Overall, great support, not unlike a hard boot.But to each their own, I could not get comfortable with the flat, UFS style. I tried for months but wasn't able to adjust to it. I did like the rockering adjustability but Unfortunately, these now just sit on shelf in garage while my other skates go out and play!

yeah me too man, i dont know why i just cant adapt to the flat foot, maybe my lacing wasn't done right. i can jump in my cheaper skates so much easier.

I wonder - as regards grinding, d'you think it would be possible to fit an aluminium plate to the bottom of the boot, cut to the boot's sole shape? This would definitely protect the boot plastic. Maybe make it a wee bit smaller than the boot so it doesn't become a blade & slash your ankles, but you could drill holes for the frame's mounting bolts & have them clamp it all together. A couple of milimetres thickness would probably be enough, and it'd be cheap to replace & very slidey.

How do these skate roll? Do you get that feeling of falling backwards? You point out a lot of deficiencies like the axles, forward flex, etc (thank you) which makes me skeptical of buying them.

They're not bad skates. Just very particular. I was ultimate very fond of them

Hey do you know a good website where I can buy good cheap skates. Trying to get into inline skating.

I currently do most of my online shopping on either www.inlinewarehouse.com, rollerwarehouse.com, www.inlineskates.com or www.proskatersplace.com. They all Carry skates on a wide price range (cheap to expensive)

Cool review! Few things-- They grind fine, as long as the surface is metal, just takes an old school stance "Natural rocker" is more complex than 3rd wheel down & won't give you speed wobble if done correctly The frames are closer to 250mm IIRC to accommodate for the rockering The spacers set the axles 1mm off center in whatever direction Just don't lace the top 2 (4) spots, that'll fix your forward flex

Two words: duct tape. May look like shit, but it protects your skates. Oh, and those one-key bolts are called carriage bolts.

I was skating on 2016 Midtowns for much of the year (same length frame, same rocker system, but composite plastic, not aluminum like the uptown frame, boot is probably a bit softer as well, very comfy) and totally agree that the naturalish rocker is a bit unstable at high speeds. I actually bounced my head off the sidewalk and kinda messed up my shoulder after a speed wobble on a rough street got the best of me last month. Super fun for messing around, but for commuting, I'm running a toe rocker now - toe up, back three flat low. Still plenty maneuverable, but a bit more high-speed stability. I've since found a used pair of 2016 Unnaturals, and put my midtown frames on them, since I'm not a small-wheel grinder at all. Loving the higher ankle support.

I have the 2016 uptowns, you're totally right about the wide fit. Love the frames and the rocker. 6mm axles are a pain in the ass. I manage to do soul tricks on the 'souls' but only do them in parks not on rough ledges. You can fit the varsity souls to the skate which I bought recently. I like the versatility of the skates being able to put aggressive frames on them. Thanks for the review of the new ones, had seen a few pics on instagram nice to see em properly!

I can't skate my Front Streets because of a massive pressure point behind my pinkies, they're not wide enough. :( Yet I do fine with other wide-ish skates.

Thanks very much for your thorough review. i like the way you explained things in detail. i hope you'll make more reviews of different skates in the future. it's hard to find reliable skate reviews here. Inline warehouse for example just talks about what the skate is for advertising purposes, but not a review.

Thanks good review. I just bought the 2017. I’m a leisure skater trying to move towards urban and free skating...so you think that the uptown is a good starter over the sodo
@BINY_Channel
@BINY_Channel 6 лет назад
They are both good skates.The Uptown's are definitely more on the aggressive skate side than the Sodo's which are more of a Recreational skate. Never tried the Sodo, was thinking about possibly picking up a pair too

Blade In NY cool thanks. I’ve been doing a lot of research about the bigger wheels and super high hardness. People say it helps them skate over pebbles and cracks. The uptown’s have a good ability to do all of that right? Also again, great review and the information on you using them to powerslide was helpful

About the absence of the forward flex, would you gain more forward flex as you continue to ride and possibly break in the skates more? Or is it just a permanent part of the skate to have limited forward flex.
@BINY_Channel

They had to break in. They are very upright and stiff in the beginning. Ultimately loved these skates

Thank you man, I almost end up buying the Powerslide Doop because of my wide feet. But i'll definitely buy the K2 Uptown, i'm sure now the boot is real soft hehehe.

This is the kind of skate I’ve been looking for, but I’m concerned that my 24cm narrow feet with not have a good tight fit in these… what do you think?

Can I ask, how would this compare to the unnatural? And are they suitable for wizard frames
@BINY_Channel
@BINY_Channel 3 года назад
The uptown are on the stiff side but no where near how the stiff the Unnatural are. They're are stiff AF. I've never seen someone use wizard frames on Uptowns before. But from what I hear you need a stiff boot for those frames

I've had my K2 Enemies for almost 15 years.. We have short summers where I'm from, I also don't grind which is why they last so long .. I really don't wanna switch to a different style of skate.. Not sure if you've ever has a pair, but if you have do you find its the same feel? Mainly in the ankle support.
@BINY_Channel
@BINY_Channel 4 года назад
Didn't have one but the Uptowns are based on the same design. The cuffs are tall and make you feel upright at first, the boot is very roomy and comfortable
