Thanks for the video, it helps with the lack of RU-vid content on the MC4. I’d love to hear what your impression of the grinder is. I’m seriously considering upgrading from a Niche.
I'm happy to report that I love it. It's quiet, it's consistent, and it's just satisfying to use. I still have my Niche, but it's been used only a handful of times since getting the MC4. Best way I can describe the MC4 is that it achieves the same thick body the Niche is great at, but pulls out quite a bit more flavor and origin characteristics of the coffee. Niche has a tendency to kinda dull brighter notes in coffee, and the MC4 brings it back. The flavor profile is a lot more in line with a flat burr, but with the thick body of a conical burr. If you have an opportunity to get one, I don't think you'd regret it. I've not tried much brewed/pourover coffee with my MC4, as I pretty much only drink espresso. If you like brewed coffee as well, my understanding is the extra $$$ for the Flat Max is worth it. But to me, this was the right choice.
Fellow coffee nerd here, thank you for sharing your Monolith video. Any updates on it? I've been trying to find some reviews on how it does for drip / pour overs. Do you have any experience you can share?
Hello! In the year I've owned it, I use it pretty much every day exclusively for Espresso. I've also upgraded the burrs to the new MC5 Shurikones. It's a wonderful grinder. However, I haven't ever tried any other brew methods besides Espresso with it, as I have a Fellow Ode with SSP burrs that I use for Chemex/V60/French Press.
