@@zombathinlostleghackercat5233 The "plains" is a flat area of land. "Mountain" obviously are not flat but big hills. Basically made a funny juxtaposition.
Tbh, i didn't like kai at first (mostly because i only found the censored) but damn the voice acting and dialogue are above and beyond dbz. There are even instances i don't even mind gohan's new voice. Really wish there was an uncut version of kai somewhere
Unfortunately there is no truly uncut version of Kai. Because some blood will always be censored even on the blurays, and in the buu saga the picture itself is cropped, or literally "cut" if you will.
God, the animation quality is fucking beautiful - Dragon Ball Super, take notes! As far as the original Funi vs Kai, nine times out of ten I side with Kai. Faulconer had some great songs, true, but why would you watch a show JUST for its soundtracks? If that's all that's good about it, then just go listen to the OSTs themselves, Kai just brings too much good stuff to the table for it to be written off as a cheap or inferior copy of the original.
+Lunaticthegame YT I'm talking about in terms of linework, colour saturation, and smoothness - Kai only had the original animation to work from, and they made it a *LOT* better. Super's animation is shit in comparison, no matter how you slice it. Plus, since when do DBZ and Good Animation ever go hand in hand? Kai is STILL DBZ's best animation to date (not counting video games or movies).
***** That they did, although I was specifically referring to she shows, and excluding the movies and the video games for the simple fact that both the games and the movies have more skilled animators, longer production times, a MUCH higher budget, and many other factors that helps make them look nice.
I miss Yamamoto. This ost, "One Hit to Victory", brings so much spirit and emotion to an otherwise simple powerup. It arouses a sense of eager anticipation for the viewer, and really highlights what's at stake for this battle.
In the 90s I would go to the Asian video rental store to see if they had received these videos yet, good times. I can’t believe people still watch this 30 years later.
when i was a kid i didnt knew ssj2 waqs a thing, despite loving gohan vs cell, for me was just ssj, because the hair didnt change , and ssj1 also has electricity sparks like this
Goku didn't have the time to push himself to SSJ2 as his body couldn't handle it with so much power transformations so soon . Settling with Mastered SSJ1 was what he needed to indulge in and to harness its abilities completely before stepping up to SSJ2. It would have been ultimate to watch him make it a cake walk against Cell if he would have managed to do so...
Yes at power level this is the maximum reach in ssj. Then the next level is ssj2. Unfortunately we never seen ssj2 in maximum power, they jump to ssj3. Then in ssj3 they didnt explore too, because i think vegeta could reach ssj3 too
@Jesse Bundrick If you're gonna call others stupid, don't show stupidity yourself. He can't use King Kai Fist in Super Saiyan form, it's too much for his body to bear. This, at the time of its writing, was the highest Goku could go. He even said to Gohan he was giving his all. Gohan was still stronger.
Jesse Bundrick you could even say kaioken correctly and you called us stupid. I wonder if you saw the fight between Goku and cell. Goku wasn’t strong enough to beat cell, and he was getting slapped by cell jr from lack of energy. If that fight went on between Goku and cell, Goku would have lost.
@@bluesummers5051 I'm a dbz fan and I agree with this to an extent we sometimes form opinions based on what we want things to be and some times based on what is happening in the show
@@DaSheepKiller Honestly, if Goku hadn’t given Cell that senzu, Gohan could have clapped Cell without going SSJ2. Cell had already used up half his power while Gohan was more powerful than Goku
I don't think so. Cell was actually holding back a lot during his fight with Goku. It's kind of like the fight with Frieza before the Super Saiyan. Goku was the only capable of giving him an entertaining fight, but he was still no match at all to him
Cell was actually a cool villain once he got to his perfect form. He was kind of like an evil Goku. His purpose wasn't for killing so much as it was fighting and having a good challenge. Hell, even in his first form when he absorbed people he did it for power he wasn't out just maliciously murdering people like Frieza.
I love how Gohan looks surprised... he’s probably wondering why his dad is holding back so much (as Gohan falsely perceives Goku as being stronger than himself) while supposedly powering up to full strength lol
That’s definitely the best way of depicting that gohan has so much within him, I’ll always love the old sagas of dragon ball, in fact dokkan has been representing some of the old sagas really well (well maybe for some but mainly they are all good).
I definitely feel Goku was on the verge of Ssj2, but just didn’t have that last bit of power Gohan had to reach it. He maxed out super sayian completely and was the first to show Grade 4, completely mastered form.
Cj Kalandek I will say the voice acting in Kai is better, and usually the getting to the point but the soundtrack of the og with Bruce Falconer is what I want to hear
@Pochuistas Sir, let me introduce to the True and Only Dragon Ball Z series. 100% more canon than the original one. All the things you did not understand before, will become clear. ru-vid.com/group/PL6EC7B047181AD013
0:20 I love this bit, it's setting itself like it's the final battle, one that will decide the course of the world. A battle like none other before. The music kicks in, And trunks and Cells reaction just fit in perfectly
The song playing in this scene, One Hit to Victory, is absolutely amazing. What it adds to this scene is incredible. The sense of Son Goku's immense power is prominent all throughout the song and makes the tone of this scene greater than it already is. One Hit to Victory is probably my favorite song in all of Dragon Ball.
Not to mention that there are so many legendary music scorers in Japan that out class the falconer music by miles. And Bruce Falconer didn’t even make his own fucking music he’s just the asshat that took credit but that is not even his music.
Yes at power level this is the maximum reach in ssj. Then the next level is ssj2. Unfortunately we never seen ssj2 in maximum power, they jump to ssj3. Then in ssj3 they didnt explore too, because i think vegeta could reach ssj3 too
@@didaprabekty7959 ssj isn’t worth it as we seen in the buu arc can’t regen energy in it at alland too much strain on the body as we seen fighting kid buu . ssj2 can’t be perfected too much strain and power to the body tho not as much as ssj3 does . why ssj is only one we’ve seen mastered is energy output and what it takes to transform to ssj2 n ssj3
@@Va5k1 To me this looks like if Goku used Kaioken while in Super Saiyan like when he increased his Super Saiyan Blue power by also going Kaioken in Dragon Ball Super.
You gotta admit, Cell was the most formidable opponent the Z warriors have ever fought. I would personally like to see him come back in future Dragonball series.
I’d still say Frieza is just because they could hang with Cell at Super Saiyan. Goku could barely touch Frieza at his base form when Frieza powered up just a little.
@Moon Is it a joke though? Maybe said as one but this isn't a one off. Ssj hair was gold/white to save his colorist time. ssj3 was a pain because of all the hair.
I think with the lightning while he's powering up shows he was close to the level of ssj2 but he seen Gohan already had the power so he thought there was no need to strain his body to try to reach the transformation. That being said if they would've taken the extra time in the hyperbolic time chamber I believe goku would've reached ssj2 and destroyed cell
1:12 Goku reenacts the opening. I never noticed that before. It's about 1:14 into the original version of Cha La Head Cha La. The later versions cut off the shot of Goku charging with his fist up.
LMAO Piss off with "aCtUAlLY" nonsense. It's not just "pretty good", it's FANTASTIC all the way thought. MOST English dub voice actors are fantastic abroad and they're all top tier throughout! Not just hidan's here. The entire English dub voice acting for this anime is nothing sort of phenomenal and outstanding. And not only that. Most to if not all English dub voice acting has been nothing short of the word fantastic since the past 20 years. This isn’t the 90s anymore where your anime English dub get any guy off the street anymore, hell no far from it.
Am I the only one who wasn't a fan of this power up sequence? Why is Goku powering up while throwing up the BX logo? Why did he do the "SPARKING" part of the DBZ intro as part of his power up?
Everyone’s talking about some of the other stuff, meanwhile the music is already giving me the chills, they really nailed this scene so well with that music. You can even feel the raw power as it progresses.
Anyhow, with this, Kai officially proves itself better than Funimations first dub. Comparison right here. *Music* Z - Since the power up scene did cover two episodes, I can't really give the best of explanation. However, I know for a fact that the ost used was pretty lame. The song didn't give ANY sense of emotion and was just there to be... well... music... Kai - TV Tropes listed this song as the 'epic' song on the Kai soundtrack and so I guess I can see why it's here. It gives a sort of feeling on how Goku's power seems to be limitless in this arc (Before Gohan takes over at least) and it fits especially while all of the characters are just watching him charge his energy. Though, when Cell powers up, I prefer the Kikuchi score because... obvious reasons... 0-1 *Dialogue* Z - Honestly, because shows back then were like this, Z needed to not only have dialogue that could cater to children, but also needed to keep it consistent in order to keep the viewer interested. THAT IT A MISTAKE! This isn't a Saturday morning Cartoon, this is a anime. I know that anime may have not been popular but by the mid-90's, it got a following to say the least (Hell, Sailor Moon was on Toonami before Z and that show was popular). Funimation wasn't who they were now and they didn't try to pander to the Otaku (Which gets real annoying sometimes honestly) but this held the show back and makes it completely dated. There should be no diaulge when characters watch Goku power up. We already know what they're thinking, you don't need to tell us (Don't tell me you'd want to know. It's like if your school teacher reminded you of a test every 5 minutes during class... even while taking it). Seriously, it's stupid. Kai - A lot of sitting and watching. The opening did have some dialogue which was in the Japanese version which is a good start. I'm glad that it keeps the character silent because we already understand what the characters are thinking. Hell, even 8 year old me understood that. I don't need the show to assure me what's going on. 0-2 *Voices* Z - Okay... Many sub fans come out and explain that they like subs but watch Z dubbed because of Goku's voice... Fuck you people. Z's dub is utter trash. I'll give you the rundown of all the horribleness... 1. Goku's actor barely bothered to do any acting in this arc. He tried harder in the damn Frieza arc for goodness sake and look how much I hate that... 2. Chris Sabat's Vegeta is fucking awful. He doesn't even know to do it himself and he only got it by the time Kai came out. Vegeta sounds like the generic bad guy from all of those 80's cartoon TV shows. Even then, you don't see me complaining about Brain Drummed's voice of Vegeta and he was even more of the generic bad guy. *Shaking my head* Seriously, stop. Worst, Piccolo is fucking horrible. In Kai he sounds more intelligent while here, he sounds like Shrek with a sore throat. 3. Everybody else sounds pathetic. Krillin does some stupid shit in this arc but you at least feel for him here. Sonny Strait's take on Krillin pisses me off to new ground. Nadonly's Gohan in this arc is also a big reason why I prefer Colleen Clinkenbeards Gohan. Trunks may sound a little to rapsy now days but... goodness, Eric Vale just didn't know who he wanted Trunks to be did he? An badass 18 year old. A whiny little 18 year old. An idiot and later this... Cell is also the same because he really doesn't know who he wants to be... Kai - Everybody sounds like... well... there own person. They don't sound like generic personality traits, they sound like actual fucking people. Gohan sounds like a 9 year old (Just learned that he is 11 in the Japanese version as well, he was 9 in the Manga though) and Colleen had matured Gohan's voice way better than Nadonly would later do (Giving 4-7 year old Gohan the same voice 12-15 year old Goku had). The only complaint I had was Cell but the dude's got the role down now but it still sounds a bit generic. 0-3 *Quality* Z - 1993? What do you expect? (Though Last House (The animation studio responsible for this episode) put very little effort into the art itself) Kai - Remastered 90's footage done in 2011? What do you expect? 0-4 *Conclusion* You people piss me off
Lunaticthegame Eh original fun dub I'd still better more intensity behind it when goku yells. BTW the lame music you're referring to is super sayian Gokus theme. P.S You might wanna see someone about that temper.
harristhesecondcomin Well excuse me but you realize that song doesn't really fit. I mean it hypes you up, but and I'd be okay with that if the music worked. Hell, it was worse the first time it played (Compared to the Japanese dub in which it the song completely illustrated the moment that Goku completely lost it.) And hell, say I have a temper but dude, you're being pissy about the fact that I just destroyed the Funimation dub.
0:53 Yamcha's hair appears to change for every scene. Here we have the spiky high top fade. When he helps Tien defend Goku, he turns into a mini Saiyan.
So you mean to tell me that Vegeta went into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, twice, (Goku only went once, and half of his time was spent helping Gohan transform) yet, he still was not anywhere near Goku's level? 😂💀
Kai was more grounded & voice acting was good but had less impact to show the intensity when brawling compared to funi dub though both are great in my eyes and depends on the taste of viewer for a preference or bias.
