*KALKI 2898 AD* Spoiler Discussion | Movie Mode 

11:29 I think I get why people who have not been raised on these epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana would have a hard time linking the past (the battle of Mahabharata) and the present (I.e the future 2898 AD) any revelation that occurred just links to the past. So you can just think of the past for,s shown being a spoiler for the present and their roles. Bhairava is shown to be allegedly “Karna” in his past life, and he just had a miserable life where he was a capable man born out of wedlock to the same queen who is the mother of the side of good but had to live a life of deprivation, a string of bad choices/ kindness and favors from the evil side made him fight the battle from their side; Bhairava is doing the same thing (also a random thing I noticed Karna the past form was born with armour moulded to his skin and Bhairava is always shown in armour) Ashwatthama the immortal was the son of the Guru to both sides, and a moral sin and was cursed to be a restless soul for eternity until he helps the future avatar. There’s also inconspicuous mention of Krishna (the previous avatar who cursed Ashwatthama) I just wish we had better content on Mahabharata that I could recommend but THE DRAMA! there is in Mahabharata is incomparable and I really wish someone here recommends a good English version of the epic.

The final end where Prabhas is revealed to be the reincarnation of "Karna". He is an underrated character in the Mahabaratha, kind of because he allied with the "antagonists" in the Kurukshetra war. Nevertheless he was a great King and an invincible warrior on the battle field. He is referred to as "Dhanveer" or "Kodai Vallal" among the folks of India, because he is the king of giveaways. Anyone who visits his palace leaves with loads of wealth. Imagine being "Mr. Beast" during the Mahabaratha times. His defeat came only because he sided with the bad guys during the war and only because the main "villain" Duryodhana took him under his wing, when the "protagonists" Pandavas ridiculed him during a sparring showdown. Plus he is also the eldest brother of all the Pandavas😂 and the true heir to the throne technically, but refused it because he was loyal to his friend Duryodhana. The Mahabaratha even though it emphasizes good over evil, it is ultimately a Civil War and all it provides is perspectives. Each character has his or her own perspective where they are considered to be the good guys and the opposite party is wrong. Even my comment here could trigger some people each defending their favorite character to their grave, but I just offered my perspective, so my fellow aasthikas, please don't @ me

He touched the stick/wand which belonged to him as Karna in the Magabharta era, that brought back the warrior in him apparently. Both Ashwathama and Karna were on the evil side in Mahabharta, its like these 2 souls are seeking redemption in this era by saving Krishna's next avatar Kalki.

The reason why bhairava got into that mode that's because of the weapon he grabbed. I don't know you guys missed it, but aswathama tells that little girl about the stick he has. It'll work for only one that's his brother karna from Mahabharata. Prabhas's character is an incarnation.

let me give you a little context about the historical/mythological context of all the characters and why this movie is such a gem of Indian cinema. Sum80 is actually sumati, it has been written in our scriptures that Kalki avatar will born from sumati in the land of Shambala (kalki purana: Purana is basically a style of scripture based around one god/goddess/almost godly figure). So her baby wasn't actually supposed to survive the complex but she did because it has to happen. We still don't know who the father is? which serum they put it in all the girls? what is project K? Supreme Yaskin is such an interesting character that I can't even wrap my head around it. It says in the Purana/scripture that in the final hours of the Kali Yuga(era) Kali Asur (Asur is the being you can compare with the devil/supreme kind of demon) was trying to bring an avatar to life under his control to destroy it all before the beginning of his end. Because Kali has been alive since the Satya yuga (the first of the four yugas). "Kali is the great-great-grandson of Brahma (The universe itself, Brahma is one of the three main Gods of the Hindu trinity). He is the son of Krodha (Anger) and his sister-turned-wife Himsa (Violence). He is the grandson of Dambha (Vanity) and his sister Maya (Illusion). He is the great-grandson of Adharma (Impropriety) and his wife, Mithya (Falsehood). Adharma was originally created from Brahma's back as a malina pataka (a very dark and deadly sinful object)." This portion is directly quoted from Kalki Purana's translation. So Kali knows what's going to happen and he has already tried several times to prevent it from happening all over again because in Hindu mythology/history/religion (whatever you say) there are multiverses and cyclical time periods. Kali manipulated incidents and historical events long before his reign, basically, there are four angelic (for the point of reference) figures who are considered to be the reigning lords of each of the four yugas, among them Dwapara and Kali are two, and they got way too much corrupted in their way. (I'm not gonna tell their whole origin stories and journey because it's a lot to unpack in a comment) So the war of Mahabharata that you were watching in the movie with lord Krishna and all, was happening in the Dwapara yuga under the reign of Dwapara (Asur, there's debate about it) the third yuga, then after Krishna's death the Kali-yuga started to unfold slowly and Kali became the reigning lord. In the Kalki Purana in the book The Origins of Evil in Hindu Mythology states Kali does not die in the end battle but, instead, escapes through time and space to live in the Kali Yuga of the next Kalpa (Kalpa is basically a Day of Brahma, where all life form takes places and Brahma has a night too, where all life forms that are created are sucked into him just like the theory of "Big Bounce: Creation of Universe" discovered in February 2006 by Abhay Ashtekar, Tomasz Pawlowski, and Parampreet Singh at Pennsylvania State University. I liked that Prabhas is a representative of Kaliyug with the selfishness and evilness, but the moral is that the goodness will still prevail over evil.

Prabhas's character is reincarnation of the KARNA from MAHABHARAT (which this movie is made as a sequel of) , in the flash black sequence they were (ASHWATTHAMA and pradhas ) friends and they were fighting from the same side.

Love your discussion. My take is that Bhairava’s character is well written and very misunderstood by some audience and there are so many layers to it and it will get more and more interesting in sequel. One of his motive to go to complex I suspect is to free his Adoptive dad-Captain partly he is guilt ridden. There also seems to be hint at time travel…

Your understanding of the movie and envisions, excitement are all aweosme to hear. I am sure you all will find out more sooner. A part of the cultural references are historical, a part are future predictions.

It’s a cultural thing. People who have grown up in India & know about the Mahabharata will understand it. Prabhas plays a re-incarnated version of Karna a warrior from the past.

You need to learn about Mahabharata to get full context about the movie..the epic Mahabharata is the soul of the movie

I think that's a cliff hanger for next part as we know that character from Mahabharat but he attained salvation like everyone in that battlefield. So, Director might explain in next part.

20:40 I think the thing is India has 1.4 Billion people and there are many different industries. With different industries there come many actors and stars etc. So there ought be some huge fans for every star in India but they are just a portion of the normal movie going audience here. Not just Prabhas, SRK, Amir khan, Amithabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal are some examples of huge movie stars.

Reading Mahabharat will give you majority of answers. The film is further based on it.

8:55 it is a problem with the movie. You are supposed to understand it if you know the Mahabharata but still director needed to hint at it before. They should have explained better. Should have done foreshadowing. Bahubal part two is still superior to rrr and kalki and everything else.

Hinduism is quit dificult to understand to really understand the vision and context perspective of this movie ,you should have some idea of the mahabharat war to get which character was what at that time ,so no worries 😅😅 bhairava or kaal bhairava is another name for lord shiva,in every yuga when lord vishnu was incarnated as avatar ,lord shiva was also used to incarante in any form or avatar, for example during lord ram yuga hanuman was shiva's avatar similarly during lord krishna era The Krishna Darshan Avatar of Lord Shiva, and during mahabharata yuga or at the start of kali yuga karna was the avatar of lord shiva . Spoiler ahead***** so prabhas' name is bhairava in this movie and the mahabharata scene we saw prabhas as "karna " so those who understand and follows hinduism or read any of the scritptures ike mahabharata or puranas and bhagwat gita can connect those dots very well. As an hindu and indian perspective a great thinking and plot twist by Nag Ashwin, mastery and his thought process was brillliant for this movie for me by nag ashwin. ❤❤

The Mahabharata happened and then ended with the good side led by lord Krishna won and other side lost. At the end of the Mahabharata there are 7 guys who are immortal who are told to live on till lord Vishnu is born again for the tenth avatar in the next yuga , namely Kalki ( the child in Deepika's womb ). All these 7 immortals will come and join in this final war and help lord Vishnu / Kalki in his battle to triumph over all evil. So you will see six more 8 ft height men joining during the course of these movies . There is a reason why they are 8 ft . The scriptures say that the four yugas are cyclical. The first yuga known as sat yuga is the absolute best where almost everyone is righteous, perfect, kind, and godly good qualities and lives a good happy healthy life. Hence they are of much greater height build and strength . As each new yuga comes the goodness and godly qualities keep reducing in society and also people's height .... Hence by end of Kali yuga society is almost just evil and men most stunted in heights ... Now I think out of cinematic liberty they have taken liberty of bringing back another hero from Mahabharat age known as Karna. Prabhas is the reincarnation of karna . That staff used by Ashwatthama was originally the bow of karna . So when reincarnated karna touched the staff, it recognised him and hence the power came and so did the memories. Karna was Arjunas stepbrother but fought from evil side even if he had a lot of good qualities and is still loved ( there are a million boys named karna even today in India !! ) so perhaps they want to show redemption arc for karna and hence this cinematic liberty . ALSO : they have shown that other bow that in the end Kali picks up ; that was Arjunas bow. The only weapon that could have defeated arjunas bow called gandheev was karnas bow . So I guess since gandheev is in evil hands now , karnas bow needs to stand against it to defeat it ! 😊 ONE last context u should have is the main villain Kali , on whom this yuga is based. Kali is basically the non physical embodiment of evil that is immortal since it got a drop of amrut long long back and henc Kali can never be dead . He basically takes over and controls important peoples mind and body over time and converts them to extreme evil humans with great great power . Hence lord Vishnu then has to come down and defeat him and banish Kali again . That's lots of context . Should be enough to cover for now .... Hahaha. Have fun !

Mahabharata epic is the source of all the story lines and incarnations. So watch some mahabharata videos. No disappointment for indians. As we know the story of mahabharata. Bahubali is mostly fixtional. No source material from hindu mythology.

the stick Aswathama holding is not just a stick its the weapon of Karna (prabhas past life), so Aswathama says in a scene that only when Karna Holds the stick the material and powers will activate and during the last battle when the stick falls in Prabhas hands the Past Karna Concious comes back, Director literally spoon fed these scenes how can you not get it??

This trash movie copies the main ideas from so many sources that it's not even funny. Mad Max, Dune, Avatar, Iron Man, The Matrix, Naruto (yes, a freaking anime), Doctor Strange and of course the Mahabharath. Even the smaller stuff is copied from shows like Black mirror and some of the sound effects are copied from unrelated movies like "Us", etc. This is straight up a mismash of trash and doesn't represent the best of Tollywood.

This movie wont be complex.. Oh sorry complicated😂. If you have the basic story of mahabharat. You will get the idea what happened. Thanks
