The "I'm a nice person" immediately followed by bulling and body shaming someone is gold. I took a class in college about ethics and communication. In where we learned the bottom of the barrel of arguments is personal insults. A person only resorts to personal insults when they have no other logical points or are unable to make a valid counter argument. The thought process is 'well you're making a good point, i dont like that and it makes me feel bad. So im going to insult you to make you feel bad too.'

I find this woman's lack of intelligence disturbing. How she became a journalist is puzzling.

I have followed Theory for a long time, I do not always agree with what he says but he never goes after people or tells others to do so. Rachel shows everyone his true face by insulting Theory's look, and body type and then cries all day about people being racist on the internet. Good job Rachel.

For me one of the reasons the internet doesn’t work, because you can have two reasonable people debating a subject cordially. Then a child or a troll or a miss understood comment will suck all the air out of the conversation. Focus will easily go to the negative over anything positive.

The reason why Star Wars fans are done pulling any punches is we started out as losers, nerds and now the same assholes who called us names for years are doing the same shit again. When you go straight to insults, you’ve lost the argument. Plain and simple. Theory had the most chill reaction to that interview and even more so to that gross women’s response to his reaction.

The reason that interviewer took the "basment dwellers obsessing over cannon" angle with that first question is because she thinks Headland feels that way. She was trying to show how much they have in common by mirroring her perceived opinions. In wrestling terms she was putting herself over. It would have been great if Leslye would have said "i don't think its silly to be concerned about that". Then the interviewer would have agreed with her. In other words: she believes in nothing in particular. She just wants to be seen as cool by the celebrity.

I think the fans who went after her for being a cow did it because when she attacked Theory she said that she gets by because of her winning personality and her "hot bod". The floodgates opened up after that lack of self awareness on her part. I don't condone...but I understand.

Another part that annoys me is how the media uncriticallly assigns nasty comments to a group. Like you, I'm sure Amandla Stenberg did get racist comments but why are those comments automatically attributed to the Star Wars fandom . . . did they research the commenters and confirm they'd seen the original trilogy or something? Was there a signed letter by the leader of a large Star Wars fandom group? When Stenberg went on 'The View' one of the hosts immediately attributed racist comments to the right wing based on nothing. I could easily post a racist message to one of the black cast members of Game of Thrones: HOTD, but I've never even seen the show, so would sending that racist message mean I'm part of the fandom? I don't think so.

Even Grace Randolph said that the episode 7 was trash. It's incredible how they are able to attack everyone who dislike the show for several reasons. And all the critiques that I've seen is not about kuir ideology or something like that, the critics are more related to the lack of sympathy for the characters, the screenwrite, and Amandla lack of performance, (if she considers that critique her performance is raci...sit well she's kind of lost). Being kuir or not, is obvious that Headland didn't hire competent people in screenwrite., is not excuse to forgive Headland and her mistakes and her inability to give us, at least a good show. And, honestly, I find it, a bit ironic, because people like Rachel, I bet that they are just like Headland and these new fanatics that critique George Lucas's decisions, but when someone decide critique one of the shows produced by Disney, they start to complain, accusing everyone to be a bigot. So, in the bottom, their arguments is that they could critique George's Lucas works, his decisions, but we can't do the same about what Disney is doing? That's why I can't stand these new fanatics.

They should get rid of Pablo Hidalgo and have theory be the one in charge of lore and making sure new entries to the series stick to it

You understand that people have put up with bullshit from Disney for a long time. Writers ignored fan criticism and they don't care about Star Wars as much as the fans. People are getting more and more impatient so it's understandable why fans are having unbridled rage against people who have turned Star Wars, one of most beloved franchises, upside down and inside out. Unfortunately, fan toxicity (which is the extreme minority of the comments they've been getting) is their main excuse to waive off constructive criticism that is coming from the majority of fans. It's their fault that they take it personally and label everyone as racists or phobes or whatever title. You go outside of twitter and touch grass and suddenly all that toxicity goes away. I wouldn't say both sides have equal responsibility, Disney and the bootlicking media is 98% responsible for how they interact with fans.

I’d like to add that I’m disappointed in Disney for how they’ve been managing the majority of Star Wars projects but I’m also disappointed in the fandom. It seems like the minority of toxic fans are the majority lately. We ought to look at people like theory as an example on how to be within this fandom.

The reality is that Disney made a shitty show and chose to focus on the 1% of criticism from the degenerates/racists that appear in every fandom/platform/etc. to deflect from the fact that they made a bad show. Disney writers and actors should be ashamed that they stooped to this level and they deserve to be humiliated by journalists and content creators. Imagine if they just owned it and apologized to fans. It would be unheard of and would honestly make me more interested and willing to give them another chance on the next show. People would appreciate a humble response for once and Disney blew an opportunity to be a true leader in the entertainment industry by insulting and attacking their fans instead owning their mistake. One problem with "getting things accomplished on the internet" is there's no filter: you get the entire spectrum of behaviour, from worst to best. Sensible people see the worst and are put off from participating, so the worst behaviour gets amplified. Since this effect is somewhat reliable, clever people can exploit it.

Theory is to Star Wars what an Expert Witness is to a Trial. He knows what he's talking about (as do I to a lesser extent) because he's spent many years being interested in the world and researching it etc. He's not just talking out of his ass like many people do.

The reason why receipts are necessary is twofold: firstly, what was said may not be racist but has been interpreted that way by those who want to claim that dislike of the product is, in and of itself, racist. Secondly, there is history behind activists making up receipts of abuse so people will often check their social media to see if they are there. For example, JK Rowling can certainly show the receipts of the abuse she gets from trans activists.

The huge problem is that these people don't care about being respectful so they do not deserve respect. Something people don't understand is respect is something you earn, every person you don't know get's a common courtesy with the benefit of the doubt until such a time they show you they sre unworthy of that courtesy and then it needs to be withdrawn, but if anyone gets respect regardless of their actions then they have freedom of consequence and there will be no justice in that scenario. Those who are worthy of respect will have earned it, and those who have been deemed unworthy of even a common courtesy need to be held accountable outside of the law because the law is corrupt in many ways and it doesn't do anything substantial most of the time. The fact is these people never have cared about the fact that people like me and starwarstheory have been die hard fans since childhood in my case since I couldn't even speak yet I was in the theater for phantom menace, and it was engrained in my family and our values for literal years and I read comics and played games and we were bullied for liking starwars but we kept enjoying it, and then these people came along and want to shit all over those 30+ years of the fandom that literally built starwars and act like we are stupid for liking starwars factually the way that it actually was and not conforming to this abomination it has become under the disney banner, they do not get to come into OUR fandom and dictate that, and I'll be damned if I ever give up that position.
