It's a science fiction epic film based on a Hindu Mythology story. The story is about the 10th avatar of Lord Vishnu, "Kalki" who will defeat evil "Kali" and restore the world. The main hero is actor Prabhas(you saw him in Salaar, he's a hero) who playing as a selfish bounty hunter "Bhairava". The old guy is Ashwattama(played by Amitabh Bachan), a legendary character(from the epic Mahabharata book) cursed as immortal with blood leaking continuously from his forehead 6000 years ago by God Krishna. He and the other 6 immortals(Mahabali, Ved Vyasa, Hanumana, Vibhishana, Kripacharya, and Parshurama) are supposed to train this Kalki to end Kali. There is also a 2 episode web series named "Bujji & Bhairava" on Prime Video

It's actually a dystopian film set with a background in Indian mythology. So basically the child of Deepikas character has the potential to save the world from its apocalypse. It also has amitabh Bachchan (the old man fighting he's actually playing ashwathaama who is an immortal character from the indian epic the Mahabharata) and kamal hassan ( the guy with the scary makeup at the end) who are two legends of indian cinema literally two of the greatest stars the country has ever seen alongside prabhas who plays a bounty hunter, with a sort of devil may care attitude.the film has a lot of practical effects like the car Bujji which is a real car they built for the film and its been in production for 4 years. So the title basically refers to the 10th avatar of lord Vishnu. Kalki is the final avatar and takes the form of a horse that will save the good people during the end of the world and let the bad people suffer. So this film being set in an apocalypse studies the rise of a Kalki like figure who will rise and save the people from this apocalypse like the myths say. Really excited to check it out later this month and cant wait for your review Sean!

I watched animated preludes. Despite the inconsistency in the 3d animation, the quality of the writing was truly superb. I longed for more interactions between the articulate AI, Buji, and the devil-may-care Bhairava, but alas, we must await the movie release. As a mythology enthusiast and aspiring fantasy writer, I couldn't help but admire their skillful integration of mythology into the realm of science fiction. The portrayal of Kalki directly draws from ancient scriptures, envisioning a post-apocalyptic world marred by societal collapse, where the wealthy hoard resources while the masses suffer starvation. According to prophecy, Kalki, the final avatar, will emerge from Shambala to guide the world into a new era. Reflecting on this, both Kalki and Paul embody figures destined to usher in a verdant paradise. Though it may appear coincidental, the striking parallels between them is interesting.

This is the starting or first movie so no pre requisites are needed before watching. Trailer looks promising, expecting the movie to be good. For some reason, the trailer reminded me of Alita Battle Angel but it won't be related. Also, there are some good tamil Sci-fi movies like 24, Enthiran series, Dasavathaaram....... Late Director K.V.Anand movies has Science in all his movies (Jurassic world dominion movie locust concept was in one of his movies before Jurassic). Tamil Sci-fi Movies related to genetic engineering - 7 aum arivu, Maattrraan.

Dont compare it to star wars oe madmax or ironman as its nothing like those genre.. This is based off of Indian mythology.. Amitabh bachhan is playing the role of Ashwathaama from mahabharat. He is the son of guru dronacharya who had trained the pandavas. Ashwathama is kne of the 12 immortals that are walking now on this earth.. Bhairava who here is Prabhas is the protector of the city Kashi as in the indian ancient texts.. Finally, the baby in Deepika Padukone is the final avatar of Lord Vishnu as per the prophesy who is born at the end of Kaliyug to destroy all evil on this earth.. they say he will come riding on a white horse with a blade to annahilate the evil and restore peace and faith n Earth... Please understand the context of the subject before comparing it to the hollywood fictions.. This is written in the Indian holy texts..

I'm not kidding when i say that nothing this has been made in India ever... Aside my excitement for this movie there are some nitpicks that i have like the music feels a little to pop, it would've have been great to have some silence moments, they should've played with its ambience of the chaos like Blade Runner 2049 or something... About the vfx, it couldn't have been better with the budget they are making this with. Also there seem to be a lot of childish jokes and the dialogues also feel a bit cheesy, as the native speaker. These are my nitpicks but beside that, i'm all in for this movie. The theories people are making about this one are getting me all hyped up, specially since i've heard so much about the main characters like Vishnu, Ashwatthama, Kali and all the other characters and their mythologies. Its very interesting.

Let me explain why Indian audience is damn eager for this: In Hinduism, there are 4 Yugas (Eras). Satya Yuga (Golden Age) Treta Yuga (Silver Age) Dwapar Yuga (Copper Age) and Kali Yuga (Iron Age). The level of wickedness, badness and misery in world increases in every consecutive Yuga. As years pass, one Yug ends and another begins. Ramayan happened in Treta Yug. Mahabharat happened in Dwapar Yug. Currently we are in the Kali Yug (2024 AD). Now the interesting part, The Yugas aren't linear, they are in a circle like a clock, the end of Kali Yug would begin the Satya Yug. But as Satya Yuga is the holiest of all and Kaliyug the unholiest, the transition of these two Yugas won't be the same as the other pairs. When this happens, the Universe will face an entire wipe out and only the good souls will survive that will carry on the Satya Yuga once again. It is like a circle of life. What begins will end, and the end will bring a new beginning! There are more details of each Yuga, how they were, what were the timelines, how were the humans then, etc. Now, coming to the movie... You need to know that in these four Yugas, to maintain the balance and prove the victory of goodness vs evil (Dharma vs Adharma), Lord Vishnu, the Proprietor of the Universe incarnates in the mortal world for 10 times, called the 10 Avatars or Dashavatar. Avatar is an Indian word. [Dharma means righteousness and not religion here!]. I won't speak about all the Incarnations in detail here, but you guys must have heard about Shree Ram and Shree Krishn. Actually you can't say it as visible of clearly cgi work just by watching the color grading somehow! It's a dystopian world (2898 AD) where everything's shown to be destroyed except the Complex area where a luxury life is spent. The color grading needed to be in a brownish-golden touch to adjust the world of end of Kali Yug (Kali age) according to our Puran when Lord Kalki will arrive to save the world! ❤ Hope you better understand the world when you watch the movie!
