I drove from Austin, Texas to Effingham, IL to see them live It was worth the drive. It may be 50 years, but they are still a great live band. The trip started out to see them IN Kansas, but due to a slight mistake in Google maps, I arrived at the venue north of Topeka in time to see the crew unloading the building back into the truck. I went back to Topeka and got a room and researched where they were the next night. That was Effingham. Supposed to be 4 hours east in I70, but again, it turned out to be closer to 6 hours. I got to the hotel in Effingham in time to change, go grab a burger and get to the venue. (from the hotel - go east on I-70, exit when you see the giant cross along the interstate. It was - about 170 foot tall). Venue wasn't bad for a small town and the show was excellent. The following night, I went back west to Warrenton, MO who just happened to be having their fall festival - a free show with 3 bands. It was supposed to include Toto, but a member passed the month before, so they cancelled. Other bands Atlanta Rhythm Section and Pure Prairie League/ PPL knew that Orleans was in the area, so they called them and they filled the headliner set on short notice. It was an excellent show. Then it was a two day drive with some sight seeing along the way, to get home and go back to work.
