They did have a rough patch between 1971 and 1985 where the team under achieved with them actually having losing seasons in the early 80s. But they made the big tournament every season since 1984 except year after the 1987-88 national championship when on probation.

Maybe if Kansas had extended their D and guarded the perimeter it would have created driving lanes and Nova would have exploited that. Could have been a different kind of game. Can't blame Nova for taking what they were given. Also, moving the 3-point line back would discourage a lot of athletic but poor shooting teams from even attempting 3s, and we'd be left with less exciting, low scoring "muscle ball." Who wants THAT?!?

ibn faqir But it’s different for Villanova. Even though their starting Power Forward and Center, Eric Paschall and Omari Spellman have done great, they are both only 6’9. Villanova doesn’t do great at getting points inside. Usually on their threes they are wide open so they aren’t just chucking up shots. Most of the time Jalen Brunson or someone else drives the lane, gets the defense to collapse, passes it back outside, then whoever receives the pass either shoots or makes the extra pass if someone is coming out on him, which still results in a wide open three. And it’s also different because they shoot very effectively from three. Yes they shoot a lot from three, but they don’t force shots from behind the arch and they look for shots all over the floor, they just have the most success from three.

The coach can’t play on the court. He can’t play defense. He can’t shoot. The guy is an unbelievable coach. Look what he did with this year’s team. This team had no business being in the Final Four. I love how people just blame coaches. No team in the country would have beaten Villanova last night. They were just ridiculously good. Not everything is Bill’s fault.

Brian Bertonazzi Whenever it's the big stage, he chokes. He doesn't prepare his players properly sometimes. I understand that he didn't know Nova would have that kind of shooting night but I mean come on. At least after the first few he could have mainly guarded the perimeter. I'm not a coach though so it's not fair of me to criticize.
