Lol.okay yah 10 years ago.but look what happened to all the so called rappers and gheto ass boys.they be wearing more than just pink polos.purses, flowers, glitter, bedazzeled everything.like wtf.he knew it than.now look at the bum.im sure most rappers and other celebs be sharing the same closet as their spouses and daughters.wtf is that all about.
everyones hating on kanye for using poems in his songs but OBVIOUSLY thats all a song is at its core. he made these way before he turned them into songs. you cant blame a dude for using some of his best writing more than once come on
You're absolutely correct. It's also something that goes on way too often in the black community and ultimately its the children that suffer. This kinda thing is also very prevelant with celebrities and athletes having to deal with women trying to "trap" them by getting pregnant.
This is not an issue for the average (majority) of the population. if you're not 7 digit kind of rich, no need to worry about a her trapping you. Your energy is better spent elsewhere. Don't let these celebrities make you think their rich problem is your problem... like cancelation, tax, etc.
@@consistentinconsistency3867 OP didn’t say it was an exclusively black community kinda problem; You kinda all lives matter’d the subject there. I hope you learned from your mistake from when you posted this.
@ThumbsUpEnt1 exactly, I hate when people say he's not real anymore. Perfect example is his song power. "The systems broken, the schools closed, the prisons open" I mean think about that for a second.
His legacy as the greatest of the 21st century has been solidified since 2013. He’s basically been retired as a rapper since then so these past few years of controversy don’t count against him 🤫😭
to the people who are saying kanye was real back then and he isnt now he is making the best hiphop in the world right now and taking hip hop to a new level when other rappers are making electro music.
I had no idea this was Kanye West! I looked up "18 Years, poetry slam", trying to find a memorable poem I'd heard once or twice on tv. Thought was just some anonymous and clever kid. And I have never listened to any of his music, tho I heard of Gold Digger. This rhyme must have been written before that album or song. He actually had talent! I always thought this was just some memorable lament of a poor working man. Never heard the beginning, I guess, about his Mama. Shocked to see it's Kanye! Makes me like it a little less, though, just 'cos of the Mama/fame/p*ssy part. / Edit: I withdraw that last bit about his Mom. I see nothing really wrong with it; sounds normal to me for - it's just a way of talking. It communicates fine.
it was a poem before then he used it for gold digger. most of the raps you hear from Kanye were poems first but even if they weren't it still be considered poetry since a song is just poetry put to music
omgee i remember my mom told me and my sister to go to sleep cause we had to be at school and we were up anyway and watched this on hbo then we were like i bet he use this in a song and then gold digger came out lmao i freakin love kanye my idol idc what anybody says about him he is my hero when its comes to music the EINSTEIN of hip hop and i stand behind him 100%
kanye west changed every thing from fashon to music its just that people are to ignorant to realize!!! so they dont like him becouse he "dissed" taylor swifft wtf who care as long as his music is good
All music with lyrics is basically poetry. The difference is the elevation of subject matter. You can write about "baby mamas" or maybe consider something more important.
does anyone else think that this was just Kanye saying "hmmmm......slam poetry, i can make some money off dis shit......" and then he gets on here and does a shit verse that really has no point. walks off the stage like he's a fucking god? Seriously Kanye? I can't understand the hype around this man. He's just some producer, that figured out he could rhyme kinda cleverly one day, and started wearing polo Shirts and everybody thought it was the shit. Kanye, man: Don't call yourself a poet.
i think the main reason you think this is because you heard the song version 1st before the poetry version (like most, if not all, of us) so you have the song version stuck in your head as the predominately better version...only, the difference is, the rest of us aren't as ignorant when listening to the poetry version ...well, 'cept maybe jinijojo and skater2k4 lolz XD
He's not a gay fish! It's been medicaly proven! He's not a gay! He's not a fish! He is not a gay fish! Don't tell him it's a play on words. Man, he's a lyricist. He's a wordsmith! He's the gift of the world!
Yeah, I understand what you mean. I definitely don't expect you to accept something that you consider disrespectful. I agree that poetry is about releasing your inner feelings, but to me some of the rap that you call disrespectful is doing just that; it's releasing one's dark side.. the animalistic feelings we all have but are afraid to admit to. Again, I DON'T support this type of message and I wish there was less of it in rap, but I do find it intriguing on a psychological level.
why does the comment about kanye being fake has so many likes? he's just wrong, ye is real compared to all the other bullshit that is in the game now.. he have always been real
That's my opinion but I believe poetry is expressing your feelings in a beautiful way. Not saying you want to fuck her so hard that she can't feel her body. That's not poetry to me. Poetry is releasing your most true inner feelings. Not sexual and agian, degrading thoughts towards women. I love poetry that has a controversial subject but when that subject disrespects someone, it is nothing but trash to me. I mean this is what you like and all to you. But for me, I don't accept it.
ShaKah Fresh I like what you said. But this particular poem is just telling it from the guy's point of view. The only really offensive part was the "b" word at the end. That's unfortunately how some people talk, though. I could do without it, but it doesn't negate the whole poem. You can't just censor some stuff because it's not romantic. You havee a right to your opinion, tho, of course, and it's a good point in my opinion! Still, this little poem is clever and he delivered it very well. Oh yeah, it also had the "p" word. But it was all part of the world he was creating (or expressing). All poetry can't be the same. It will probably never get into the Norton Anthology, though.
I don't know if he recorded Gold Digger before or after this, but the lyrics are surprisingly similar. I guess a poem or a song an hold different meanings when you emphasize different parts of it.
@amiteshdiyal nah... his POEMS were VERSES he used in his songs. i think the bittersweet poem was a whole lot better in the poetry version than the actual song... feel me noggin?
A proper synonym for "Slam Poetry" is _Misspoken Word_. It's kind of like listening to a bebop solo over the same phrase, over and over, by someone with no musical ability. A few rise to real jazz, most of it is artless jizz.
hey, i dont know why these kids here gave you the thumbs down. its just his opinion, and as a matter of fact, its mine too. poetry is here to be interpreted by the individual and for me and murrc2h, we cant connect with it. sure i understand the concept of the poem, but i cant feel the meaning. this doesnt mean i dont respect it. and if you kids give me the thumbs down too, then you dont understand or feel me.
i'm not going to lie. Despite Kayne's incomprhensible douchebaggery and my hatred towards him personally, that was pretty fuckin funny. and his music aint bad either.
So basically Kanye is doing a poem on why you should be a dead beat dad... rather have the humvee then hyundai on the chance teh the child you raised is and presummably loved is not yours.
@babyjenksyall Obviously he took the lyrics from gold digger and then used it as a poem. then a little after, produced the song. the song was already written when he said this poem
