Kardinal put Canada on the hip hop map. Before the kids called it the 6ix ... it was the T-Dot! Congrats to the Raptors.. from a Warriors fan Bay Area native
@@DLCOrganization You’re a little delusional if you think Maestro put Toronto on the map LMAO. Just because he came first, doesn’t mean he put TO on the map
@@wallysworld8380 -- Actually, that's kind of the idea of the term "put _[insert location here]_ on the map. Just because you don't like a certain artist (or because another artist may have hit harder for you) does not mean that the artist's achievements can be discredited or marginalized on your say-so. That's not how it works.
Hands down the Ambassador for this era of Canadian music .. every bit as important .. as important as Fresh Wes for his era and Michie Mee . Being from Brampton and seeing friends in the videos even coming back to these in 2024 bangers then … bangers now they don’t crack .. underrated … intelligent …. A GOAT
@@RyanWilliamMac Yup. IRS deserves their flowers indeed!! Loved them as a kid growing up in Toronto. Deborah Cox, Tamia also hold Queen of Canadian R&B title too
Kardinal is not rapping much anymore. He is no longer on An american label. When he was on akon's label in 2008 his album didnt sell much. Plus he Doesn't talk much about materialism or violence so i guess he wasnt liked that much by the American market. I think if he debuted to An American audience in the eay 2000's it would've been different.
@@michaelprovidence9961 The Canadian rap scene back in the early 90s and 2000s wasn't reaching a wide audience that's why it was hard for the rappers to sell and go platinum it was different out here I feel in Canada they dont support and appreciate rap like how they do in the states
I found this awesome all in one cheat for Kill Shot :) facebook.com/Kill-Shot-Unlimited-Gold-Cash-Cheat-199884427018330/?pidid=6af825f2-d6dc-42d3-9ac5-01292b2d3db1 Kardinal Offishall - Ol' Time Killin'
This song is so ahead of its time. And you can hear it’s influence in the songs that have directly sampled it/interpolated it. Remarkable. 0:01 - All Me - Drake 2:55 - Mercy - Good Music 3:25 - Bam - Jay-Z
well this song sampled classic Jamaican classics which in turn those artists and songs you mentioned also sampled. But truss and belieeeve all them American big artist know bout this jam, whether they want to admit it or not!! CANADA been in here!!
I’ll never forget my 1st time hearing this...Paterson, NJ 2001...went to the bodega to get some dutches & drinks & Papi had the video playing behind the counter. That beat & Jully on the hook....mannnnn listen! I played this death! Classic!
Im from the Toronto Area, I remember when Kardinal and Choclair use to come to the college campus's and Kill it! I love that after 6 years I found this gem. OL' TIME KILLIN' :D
At this time a lot of Americans didnt know about Kardinal Offishall. He waa on a Canadian label. When you on a Canadian label you're just promoted mostly to Canadians. Even music videos mostly only played on canadian television.
It did big time in Canada. It should have crossed over though imo but I don’t think American stations gave it a chance. I remember watching this video every day on rap city/much music. Same with “She look like a movie star, like a chocolate candy bar” movie star by Rascalz. Both catchy hit songs that should have crossed over and would have been hits in the states.
Pure tingz a gwan wid diz tune back in da day! lots of walls were crushed and ceiling tube vents mauled because of this track... The intro itself starts it off and yea know you from Tdot when you get hyped to this.
he was lyrically homicidal. ahead of his time. he could rock with anyone, really. There were only a few cliques, or whatever, that could mess with this crew. kardinal, saukrates, marvel, FOS; whatever, really. He could speed rap too.
