Carlson Md in my city, a black BLM 'activist' was shot & killed this year. The culprit- a black man in his 20's- was arrested... and his mother and aunt have been charged as well, for hiding him from our police department. That's not oppression, that's a failed community.
I agree to an extent... we have to want better for ourselves. We can see for ourselves what is right and what’s wrong. You can be absent of that family unit or father figure, but you still have instinctive desires to want to succeed and do the right thing.
Rodzilla what argument are you making? If a large proportion of your community is involved in crime then that will give that community a negative slant by law enforcement. To simply state they are a victim of their circumstances takes away personal responsibility. Many communities have struggled and overcome to be well respected members of society. They’ve done this by building strong community bond, keeping families together and not having children out of wedlock and emphasizing education. The black community can overcome their situation but it has to start with them, it can’t happen if you blame society or expect hand outs.
Rodzilla Yeah, that is exactly the point that these people made. Their problems have a lot less to do with being black than they have to do with the culture of these people. Ferguson is the perfect example. A guy robs a grocery store, immediately walks down the middle of the street, refuses to follow the law and get on the sidewalk, reaches in a cop car to punch a cop, and gets shot. The media says the cop shot the man because he was black, starts lies that the man wasn't even close to the cop when he was shot, then the robbery video is released, then the forensic evidence shows muzzle burn on the victims skin, then all the witnesses on the scene testify that he attacked a cop. And here we are, everytime someone suggests that Michael Brown was not shot because he was black- people like you get triggered and say that these famous blacks should shut their mouths. There are plenty of people telling poor white fools to stop asking the government to do stupid things. Of course they shouldn't expect the government to lower everyone's standard of living to bring shitty jobs back to America and push innovation towards Asia and Scandinavia, where they have free trade. Stop making excuses for problems you think other people should fix. And that's what Karl is saying, that's what most people think. Unfortunately, that slogan doesn't win elections.
Rodzilla I think we agree more than we disagree, but listen to this clip again. They were talking about Michael Brown. Michael Brown is what started BLM, and many, many people are unwilling to have a real conversation about what is and is not racism. Malone, Barkley, Freeman, Washington, etc know exactly what they are talking about. Some people care more about punishing white racism then they care about helping blacks, and it is a serious problem that anything they said is considered controversial. It isn't controversial to most Americans; it's obvious.
Rodzilla It's all a shame, but Ferguson, and the controversy of level headed blacks saying "wait a minute, here" is what this video is about and is a perfect example of what they are talking about. I mean these guys aren't speaking out like this about real acts of racism. And their speaking out is critical to keep the "any means necessary" black pantheresque nightmare from repeating itself in BLM. There is a radical faction of activists (as many whites as blacks) that seriously don't care what happened in Ferguson if they can start a riot, and we saw exactly that happen. Normal people that aren't committed to overthrowing America cannot relate to that behavior, and it was a major win for the political goals of extremists on the opposite side. (Remember Hillary only got 54% of the female vote, and trump got 30% of the Mexican vote.)
Rodzilla Yeah, you're right, i meant Mexican-american. Although i believe that was assumed, just as if we were talking about the Italians, Irish or jews...
Andrew Poore the question is when is white America going to start taking responsibility... Last time I checked there are constant instances of black people being mistreated or killed irresponsibly and nothing changes... Because let's just start to be honest... Most white folks don't give a damn about anything that doesn't affect them. I guarantee if white kids were being gunned down and mistreated someone would work day and night to put a stop to it but because it's not happening to you and yours you don't give a f**k.
+Todd Manning So what you angry about again? U don't care about white kids, why u angry that whites don't care about black kids? *I don't expect anyone to care about me,* so I take responsibility for my actions to avoid being in trouble financially and criminally. Who cares what people think or judges me? I'm doing great in life as a "ghetto" kid growing up as a minority in what used to be one of the most dangerous cities in the country. By the negative facts and statistics, I shouldn't be doing as good as I am. My parents raised me right, even when exposed (and involved) in gangs, violence around me. Fk you and everyone's emotions with respect.✌ I'm doing awesome without any angry issues against anyone. *That's the key to escaping the mental issues that curse "Black America."*
While I never blamed race for my problems, I used to blame everyone else. After an intense psilocybin experience, I realized everything was my fault. Life has been exponentially better since I took responsibility for my own problems.
What BLM and it's sympathizers want isn't complicated, sir. If a cop kills someone extra-judiciously then they should be convicted and punished according to the law. All this shit about blaming whites for our problems is obfuscation on your part and has nothing to do with the issue. If I was to set your house on fire, you're not "blaming all your problems on blacks" by simply implicating me in the arson.
What you don't understand is that it isn't that simple. There are sides to stories and actions. It's easy to look at a situation from one side and ignore the other because you don't care about the other side. That happens from both sides by the way. People will take sides based on preconceived bias and sometimes they take sides based on available information and use that to form an educated opinion. In the case of Michael Brown it was shown that he attacked the officer and was shot while approaching him. That came from eyewitness accounts! The whole, "hands up, don't shoot" narrative was a lie but the people that wanted to believe it didn't care about the truth. You want the officers to be convicted and punished but you don't care about their side of the story at all and won't believe it even if you hear it. All you care about is the color of the skin of the dead person. You don't care if they were a bad person or a criminal that victimized innocent people, all you care about is they look like you! White people don't do that. We don't care about the lives of drug dealers, gang members, thieves, robbers and people whacked out on drugs that are dangerous. When a cop kills a white person fitting that description the white people are okay with it but if the cops kill a black person fitting that description and white people are okay with it they are racist. I have never seen so many people try to defend the worth of a scumbag the way that so many black people do and it's only because they have a similar shade of skin. Martin Luther King JR had a dream that one day his children would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character and black people today that celebrate him and his vision of the future don't care about content of character, all they care about is the color of the skin.
@sibeliandrift "The matter of the "hair-trigger" response to black individuals by the police (leaving aside whether or not they can be regarded as "criminals" prior to arrest and trial, as they often are by many, which I do NOT consider appropriate) is a separate matter from the propensity for certain aspects of the gang subculture that lead young men towards destructive lives because they feel they are being oppressed by "whitey" Yes, it is a separate matter so STOP CONFLATING the two. This supposed black dysfunction is a different topic for a different thread. Your initial post was a total non-sequitur. You only acknowledged the issue of police misconduct after I pressed you but you still tried to pivot to black dysfunction.
@J Wil "The problem with your hypothesis, Black Man Rising, is that YOU want to be the one who decides what is "extra-judicious." YOU want to be the one who gets to decide when a police officer feels his life is threatened." The law already decides when an officer should feel he/she is in danger but you want to circumvent the law and make your word the law which leads to the shitstorm we're in. "No matter WHAT the circumstances are, or prove to be, BLM wants to march on ANY shooting of a black person by a white cop." Common sense tells you that that is a bogus statement. Nobody marches for EVERY shooting of a black person by a white cop. Not to mention, some of these shooting that they were protesting were by black officers as the case with Freddy Grey and Sean Bell. "And you're completely kidding yourself if you think a large portion of the black community doesn't blame whites for all of their problems" No evidence of that. You can't give me a single instance anywhere of a black person blaming whites for all their problems. That's another strawman you set up because you can't deal with the real argument.
Seriously, you guys are killing me with this. The guy who had, what is it, 3 children he refused to pay any child support for or even speak to is now lecturing other people about personal responsibility? C'mon guys, Malone is the last person in the world who should be talking about this shit.
He said "we" if I remember correctly. But to be honest it doesn't matter what his past is. He and Chuck are saying something that makes a lot of sense. His shortcomings have nothing to do with the fact. And another thing that he said which everyone who is on TV should consider about on going cases is "we don't know all the facts". People speculate on things that they have no idea about and that is just plain wrong.
But in this case, we do know the facts. Court ordered DNA tests were done, Demetrius Bell (one of the children in question) has spoken about it. This information is all out there, it's public record. Man, one of the girls was 13 when Karl got her pregnant. It's just weird to hear him talking about personal responsibility and looking in the mirror when he himself did none of these things.
@@raymondpalermo4998 Do you talk to the average person, they don't just walk around blaming white people for why they are broke necessarily. It's more so about the system that gives us a ceiling of success, and honestly that's every person who hasn't figured out a better way.
Your kinda guy knocked up a 13 year old girl when he was a sophomore in college. He acknowledged paternity but has refuse to have any relationship with his son.
little loudmouth lamont was very quiet when Malone was saying this. Usually he is interrupting and challenging anyone who says this. We know he was too scared to make Malone angry
i cannot believe i am JUST seeing this!! Karl Malone is such an eloquent speaker! He needs to be out there speaking to everyone:black, white and the rest, and teaching and role modeling! Karl Malone, i am a HUGE fan of your basketball playing but now i am a bigger fan of your mind, intelligence and thoughtfulness!! Thank you!!
The last twenty seconds or so reminded me of the classic Kennedy Quote. "ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country"
Fat Boy I respect Barkley's and Malone's opinion because its spot on... Not taking responsibility for your kids is disgusting, but sadly its become all too common and its something people don't want to hear... The easy thing to do is to keep blaming white people, not enough gun control laws, slavery or whatever else... I work in a school and when we look at statistics every year, the black and minority students stand out in all the categories where you don't want to be... Worst attendance, lowest grades and what's really telling is in most cases, the parent's last name is not the same as the kid's... What does that tell you?...
Ignacio Martinez because A. He fathered children that he treated like shit. B. When he was 20 he without a doubt and it’s been proven, got a 13 yr old girl pregnant
We in utah love two people. John Stockton and Karl Malone. One from the northwest, one from the southeast. They met in the middle in utah. And gave us 18 years as jazz teammates where they played 82 games a year. Every year almost. Karl malone: second all time in points. John stockton holds two of the five all time basketball statistic categories: Assists and steals. The other three: Hakeem: blocks Kareem: points Wilt: rebounds
NEVER! it dont fit the narrative. and lebron race baiting communist azz is allow to speak becvause he says stuff his white liberal daddy wants him to say
Have a lot of respect for Karl and Charles when they say the black communities have a responsibility for their own lives, no matter who we are we must take responsibility and own up to who we are. We have to do our own work and make life changes as we go, playing the victim is the most unhealthy choice along with playing the blame game. It will never work for a healthy lifestyle.
John Eastland sorry, John you are using the blame game, every time you label a situation with a blame you make an excuse for yourself and you will not live up to your potential. The whole world would be in trouble if we didn't move on beyond our situations, what ever that may be. You cripple yourself if you blame and make excuses for yourself. White supremacy and racism are the evil labels people use to stir up hate. I'm God's creature.
Loyal Patriot you are spewing suspected white supremacy rhetoric. You, your entire bloodline, and everybody who helped the Neanderthals out with their hideous and insidious plots, will surely meet karma one day
John Eastland You are just another every day person who labels people when you have no idea what they are about, you have no relevance in society. You add nothing to society's expectations of answers but come along with your nonsense double talk about meaningless words that don't give to any meaningful discussion. Go read the dictionary and find some real words that happen to add to a real conversion on a subject as important as taking responsibility for ones life. From your words I bet your life shows exactly the mess that derives from attaching labels so quickly to a situation. Sad!
Loyal Patriot furthermore, there is no white person actively working to stop the TYRANNY of white supremacy . So no matter how good hearted you all may think you are. you are guilty and you will all be dealt. Karma will be your judge, jury and executioner
My son asked me two months ago about and event , not gonna get into details, I told him the exactly the same thing .... when somebody dials 911, our first responders have no other option but to come prepared for the worst, they have families, but they also have a duty ...... I don’t blame them for preparing for the worst!!!
Genghis Khan and this is exactly what Karl Malone and Charles Barkley are talking about. You might not agree with some of their actions, and I know that Malone especially isn’t exactly a role model....BUT it doesn’t take away from the fact that their totally correct! Take responsibility, stop being the victim! And I loved how he said race goes both ways, such a true statement
MrSportsfreak56 bullshit the world banks are the ones killing everyone bringing death to the communities banks robbing families all day everyday stop lying
Thank you, as a proud father of 3 , grand father of 8, married for 42 years and a proud former marine , I completely agree . It is about discipline and focus and love.
Who better to know? Ignorant comment. If someone who messed up their life because of drugs tells you not to take them... trust that opinion more than anyone elses.
Will Rich Wrong. Closer to 50% , with 45% by blacks. If you go by percentage white people aren't nearly as dangerous to police. BY a factor of about 5-6 to 1. ucr.fbi.gov/leoka/2011/tables/table-44
I think one of the simplest things that can be done to make progress on these type of issues is to name specific names. Look at what it did in Hollywood. For years people just said, "Producers exploit women," which seemed untrue when people pictured the good producers. This allowed the bad producers to keep exploiting people. When you say, "Police harass people unjustly," this can sound untrue when the listener pictures a good cop that they know. When you accuse people, you have to name them. If you just name the job you are triggering the innocent who do that job to defend the guilty that do that same job. Get specific and you'll start getting results.
SO do lots of Black dads, yet instead of blaming the fact that most black people don't grow up with a dad in the states, they'd rather sit and blame the white man for enslaving their ANCESTORS 50-100 years ago :S, don't forget ALL LIVES DON'T MATTER, ONLY BLACK ONES!!
I have a dream that all men and women shall not be judged by they're color or Creed..... But to be judged by the content of they're character! ~ M. L. K.
Amen. Could not have said it better. God bless you and your family sir. I love when people (of any race, creed, religion, or age) think for themselves and use common sense.
I tell my kids the same thing, all the time. Concentrate on what you can control. You can really only control yourself, so concentrate on bettering yourself.
Good role models. I hope the Black community listens up. The only way things will change is if more leaders in the Black community can reach these kids and get through to them not to make poor choices.
DJ Winters I know u mean well, but the reason I don't like the comments from them is that they threw the WHOLE black community under the bus, & they haven't been in the community nor have shown ANY interest in social problems in the community threw out the years. When/If they do speak out (like so) they give impression that blk ppl don't look in the mirror, nobody knows the problem in the black community better than the ppl who live in them. So what in the world do they (Barkley. Malone.) know other than what they see on T.V. ? Where have they been? Race IS a double edge sword, BUT if their gonna check one side you have to check the other. Neither one of these guys are JIM BROWN or Muhammad Ali. And to think I used to root for them to win a championship. smh Peace.
He surprised me. He looks at things inward. What can I do? What is my responsibility? Long ago in an interview I heard his mother had taught them, think for yourself. It was her gift. Job well done, mom. It worked
Karl Malone said Black people need to stop looking for a handout and make our communities better. At 20 years old he impregnated his 13-year old neighbor. Her family opted not to press charges, otherwise he would've gone to jail. He didn't have a conversation with his son until he was 16, at which point, told him it was too late for them to have a relationship and he'd have to make it on his own. Karl Malone had two other children (twin boy and girl) he neglected until the daughter became an All-American basketball player. At that point he started to claim the twins, but still fails to acknowledge his other son to this day. If Karl Malone wasn't 6'9" with a nice jump shot and pick and roll partner, he'd be just another dead beat dad bringing down the community. "Judge not lest ye be judged."
Denzel DeShawn Trevon Johnson Bro come on that is totally missing the point. You can’t tell others how to take responsibility, when you as a man weren’t willing to care for children who didn’t ask to be here. He should feel blessed and ashamed at the same time because they did it on their own without his guidance! He children could have been a statistic
Look johnnie Hart. He did take personal responsibility and paid his child support and moved on. Now, mudslinger, I hope you have also taken personal responsibility for your own misdeeds and aren’t blaming others.
There are tens of thousands of men like this in America! If their peers would listen to them instead of most politicians, America would be a better place!!!!! I love Malone and Barkley!!!
Wow, that was sweet! There's a lot of people on this earth (of all races) that have been maligned, abused and taken advantage of, but it will always has and will boil down to what we do as individuals for our own selves.
John Eastland you not my mom type you fool im in Jersey fuck the talking let's meet up and fight nigga what's good get at me all this back and forth girl shit not happening I fight ok
Karl Malone - You da man!! Preach. African Americans need to stop the blame game and start taking initiative. As a young female black entrepreneur I can attest to the success someone like myself can get from putting in the hard yards. The opportunities are there for everyone, regardless of creed, color and culture. You’ve just gotta seize them!
yeah....... to those of you who agree w/mr. malone and mr. barkley , go watch the interview that joe rogan did w/this ex baltimore city cop, michael wood, and see if u still hold to these men's sentiments.
I guess those FBI investigations showing those police departments in the black areas around the country were systematically racist are lying too huh?! I guess the FBI lied about their investigation and data.......
An interview will change everything? You got to look in the mirror. These guys have lived life, young punk thugs now have never even been out of they're state. These guys are telling the truth but for some reason blacks don't like to hear it. There are more whites shot by cops than blacks, yet police have interactions with blacks 200% more. A cop will shoot white before black. They know shooting a white guy won't get attention.
Charles Barkley and Karl Malone and many other African Americans choose to have their own opinions and not fall victims to propaganda and brainwash. AMAZING. RESPECT.
We all need more Black Men like Charles and the Mailman to speak the truth about controlling your self and acting like grown Men and Woman not Children, take some responsibility for your self and quit acting like someone owes respect when you haven’t done shit to earn it. In closing, quit looking for the easy way out because their isn’t one. And remember this, if and when you decide act like an Animal don’t surprised when people treat you like one!
As a White man from Canada, where I believe the racial dynamic is a little different, I think we should start a crowd funding program to fund schools in Black neighborhoods. Give these kids the education they deserve. We need to level the playing field during the early years. Let's fund breakfast programs, daycare for single moms... Let's focus on the kids, that's the future. Dont leave it in the government's hands. Let's take action.
He's right but a hypocrite tho, he was f n a 12 yr old little girl at 19 yr old,got her pregnant with twins, was a dead beat until the parents was gonna ruin that college career with charges and he still had to be made to pay. Look that story up, true message but from the mouth of a pervert. . My daughter, never would've had an NBA career. Bet he wouldn't have liked the NRA then.
As a guy from Utah, growing up with the big K Malone and my Idle he has not let us down with these words. Charles was right and I wish all Americans could listen to these words and follow it. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR COMMUNITIES AND BE THE EXAMPLE YOU WANT THEM TO BE. MAKE ALL AMERICAN COMMUNITIES A BETTER PLACE.
