Right there, the embodiment of the saying 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear'. He has been given the enviable experience of being able to travel the world, visit amazing places and meet people from many other cultures. Yet all he can talk about is jet-lag and 'having the shits'. Travel broadens the mind, but you have to have a mind to begin with.
What are you talking about? Karl is a genius philosopher, listen to what he's saying very carefully. I can't believe how much of his genius goes above people's heads, no wonder why he didn't like "An Idiot Abroad" and changed it to "The Moaning of Life" instead. People just can't get past the "idiot" part. Karl is a very smart philosophical thinker without the foo foo, so if you don't listen carefully you'll miss all the gems he constantly drops.
Proust had his ENTIRE life to come up with that quote. He also wrote the longest French language book ever written. Remembrance of things Past. Karl has to do it on the spot. Not really fair.
Yeah, you're right there! I've lost count of the number of times I've heard him say stuff that I thought, at the time, was stupid only to realise later that he was right (or at least his own version of right!!). 🤣🤣
I don't understand how people can be fans of Karl without understanding this fundamental truth. Do people just enjoy him because they think he's "stupid"? Funny how a practical person comes of as the idiot in a fantasist world.
@@alicedoors4826 He's displayed intellectual brilliance at times, acknowledged by the other two. Also the funniest man I've come across, which seems effortless compared to comedians. We need more Karl Pilkingtons.

I know most of the time he's just being himself but sometimes im just like "is he in or the joke or not?" "is the joke actually on me?👀", always a blast! I really miss him. I'm currently living in a fantasy where I run into Jeff Bezos (why Jeff? Because he understood the genius of Jeremy Clarkson) and beg him to make Karl an offer he can't refuse.
