The one about Karl not being impressed with the "freaks" film is one of my absolute favourites. Ricky trying to stifle his laughter in the background after Karl's "if she wasn't eating.. and you were sat next to her" never fails to crack me up.
"No-one likes to pick on an invalid" might be the most cutting, mean thing someone has ever said to one of their friends. Comedy Central roasts don't even come close to it.
I disagree...I think when he's pleading with Steve to actually watch Men in Black so that he'll understand...and he sounds so earnest! Like he really thinks he's NOT being offensive, it's just someone who could be his brother!
The thing is, that was a normal jest back in the day. I grew up in Manchester in the 80s, the word ‘invalid’ was chucked about willynillyilly all the time

I work with a guy who looks exactly like a shorter red headed Steve. Takes everything in my power not to tell him it takes time to get used to how he looks

And Karl insults Susan all the time on TV He has no filter or shame..they got together and he's probably dumbed her down over the years to the point where she's dependent on his neediness. They are at the age now where they have to stick together because they won't find anyone

I reckon Steve is traumatised by these barbs, probably goes back to school days. Otherwise, with that natural witt he should be able to destroy Mr Dilkington and yet feebly fails everytime.
Steves is more sarcastic than genuinely funny, but i like sarcasm i get it, so steve in my eyes is funny, just a bit two high brow, to make carl snap, whereas carl has no brains, no empathy no sympathy for nobody not even Suzanne 😂so carl hits low, where steve hits high and it goes over carls head his insults 😂😂😂
