Greetings, everyone! Welcome to The Commander Tavern! I am Demented Kirby and this is the 25th and final episode of the 3rd season of one of the series on this channel, The Brewery. This series is all about brewing and deck techs - hopefully showcasing the spiciest of brews!
This episode of The Brewery is my take on Karona, False God using Jegantha, the Wellspring as its companion. The deck is a voltron deck that plays hot potato with Karona since you're handing her over to your opponents so that they can also enjoy hitting each other with her. This new build feels like it learned some lessons from the Siona deck

Siona could even be included as one of the 99 in order to help dig for a vow/impetus as well as creating chump blockers just in case whenever you enchant Karona with an aura.

Karona was (I think) the third or fourth commander deck I built and she's certainly due for an update. I really like Teferi's Moat for protecting myself and Whispersilk Cloak is to equip on Karona

Karona is a deck I tried to make viable for the longest time. But, between using slots to force attacks and protect myself, the deck was too wonky and didn’t function well a lot of the times. It was also incredibly mana hungry. But the impetus cycle solved this. The only problem with Whispersilk Cloak is the shroud. You can’t enchant her or equip anything else to her because of it. So I went with Aqueous Form instead. Same reason Lightning Greaves aren’t included.

@@TheCommanderTavern I don't really run a lot of targeted instant speed tricks to help Karona, so the Shroud doesn't come up very often. I do also play Trailblazer's Boots in the deck and those are pretty good at getting Karona through. I've lost to my own Karona only once (opponent removed Teferi's Moat and I failed to hold up mana for Constant Mist), have you lost to Karona too?

Before this version? Plenty of times. Players would just destroy what protected me. Now, for me to lose to Karona, a mass enchantment wipe has to be cast. So I just save my counterspells for that. I lost once to her during a test (before the companion nerf). I had Jegantha on board, used it and an extra mana to cast Karona. Then I attempted to cast Shiny Impetus on her. It got destroyed in the next opponent's turn. So each opponent got Karona and chose "avatar" for the creature type. Since Jegantha was tapped, I couldn't block and took 8 commander damage thrice and lost. So it's not impossible to lose to your own Karona, but at least now it's not as often.

does not lifelink be targeted to corona means your opponet gains life also the one attacking making the game to a scrumbeling halt

Well, that happens with the "lifegain" auras but not an aura like Armadillo Cloak; with its wording you're the only one gaining life from it. It might seem like giving Karona lifelink is counterintuitive but it's not; it's yet another way to incentivize opponents to attack each other. A player could have a googol life and it won't matter because they lose to either 10 poison counters or 21 commander damage. But at least during my turn, when I swing with Karona, I can gain life if I'm low on life while still being able to eventually take out high-life opponents with commander damage. Hope that explains some of the logic! But by all means, you can take out what gives lifelink and swap it out for something else. But do leave Armadillo Cloak.

@@TheCommanderTavern i would say add the sword cycle because the sword have the abillity and not the creature important thing to not

dragullong blackfang The problem with the swords is that they give Karona protection for X and Y colors, so you can’t enchant her with a vow or impetus.

@@TheCommanderTavern ah make sense then equip the least amount of sword the sword combination which fucks arounds the least with your aura

I tried that; it didn't work. Each aura has at least one color, and the vows are super important because they prevent Karona from attacking you. Protection to any color restricts which vow/impetus I can enchant her with. The swords don't even always guarantee Karona getting through nor do they prevent Karona from attacking me. They also don't force opponents into attacking each other with Karona. Those 3 counterpoints outweigh any pros of the swords. So I took them out. And I was only running like 4 of them.
