Kashi's Rainforest Cage is getting a makeover soon! 🐹 If you have any ideas or suggestions for **natural** themes, please leave them below I appreciate any inspiration! This is so exciting! Perhaps you could think about making a tropical island theme, since it is about to be summer, and you could use a lot of sand, and some similar bedding to the one that is in Kashi's current cage setup (although, you can do whatever theme you feel more happy and excited about)! This means that it wouldn't smell too different, and wouldn't stress her out either. Another way that you could maybe lower the stress levels is by creating the theme, on a smaller scale, inside of her play cage. This means that you could transfer a good portion of the toys and other materials used in that cage to her main one, so that she already has her smell on them. It would also be useful to you, as you could experiment a bit with that cage and see how you and Kashi like the theme/setup before having to commit to redoing the main cage! I hope these ideas helped a bit. I wish you the best of luck with re-designing the cage!

Yes!! I think a desert theme would be amazing in this cage! I think the sand would look so cool! 🐹Maybe you could build/implement some of those german style boxes that have all those different compartments for sole enrichment for Kashi, I feel like she would love those :) Also, I think snake aspen (made by zoo med) would look incredible in a sand desert (especially because it holds and allows animals to create dens so easily! Lastly, I think terra-cotta pots would make lovely pops of color in with sandy natural colors, along with maybe some disinfected tree branches + items made with jute twine (just because the overall look of it) Sorry it's a lot haha but I just wanted to throw some ideas out there 😅😂🐹 p.s cute footage of kashi !

I think you should do a meadow theme. European hamster (Wild hamsters) usually live in low-lying meadows.

I can't believe Kashi can be bored with such a great cage set up. There so many tunnels, hide outs and different bedding but I enjoyed seeing her explore in this video. Idea: How about adding an amusement park in a corner with her regular wheel, add a saucer wheel, swing, a maze box etc so she has many things she play with but keep the tunnels, bridges and the different bedding. All my hamster always love their wooden labyrinth house that I always leave there. They go to other house but they would always returned to the labyrinth house to sleep and yes stock their food. I find my IKEA Detolf is not big enough to do this theme I would love to see your creativity and see Kashi enjoy it.

I'm sure Kashi will find the change exciting. Especially since she is now happy and confident enough to explore her play cage themes. One of my hams absolutely hates change and sticks to a rigid routine. Recently, I had to give him a full cage clean and I was worried he would be stressed. To my surprise, he absolutely loved the change and seemed really excited. He settled into a different routine very quickly. Kashi will love it. Full cage cleaning provides great stimulation. And a desert theme sounds fun. I can't wait to see what master piece you come up with.

Cool! a new cage set up for Kashi sounds so much fun! I bet Kashi will love it! I think a desert theme sounds cool, a nice big sand area would be cool, a deep burrow section with more buried tunnels would be cool, more cork tunnels and cork bark would be cool too!

For a slight change you could do something like ginger snaps fairy themed cage theme but for larger changes like a desert theme I like the idea of creating an island or several islands with beaches or a large lagoon with a shipwreck at the opening... I’m catching up on your videos so now I am off to go and see your unicorn bedroom!!

I agree with doing a desert. Since you clearly want to recreate the natural environment for Kashi a desert is the obvious option. The natural environment of some wild hamsters is the Syrian deserts so it would be cool if you could look at deserts in Syria and recreate that! After a quick Google search I found that Syrian hamsters in the wild live in warm, dry areas like steppes, sand dunes and the edges of deserts. Maybe do a couple of different environments in one cage..? That way Kashi could live in the desert and go on vacation to somewhere else on the other side of the cage! Idk, just an idea... But I do really like the thought of a desert theme!

Maybe just change a portion of the cage at a time. After all it isnt unnatural for a landscape to change slowly over time with trees falling etc. Change like one corner at first, let her get used to it for a bit then change another corner, and so on.

I'm currently working on a desert theme at the moment. It's probably my favorite theme to do. I've really enjoyed your desert themes from the past. I also find the desert theme to be more flexible to change things up periodically to prevent boredom, as we seem to have an abundance of those type of items here in the states.

Hmmm! I’m not super creative but I’ll give it a shot. Haha! Maybe a beach theme, where they have water (fake water) and a beach with drift wood and little tiki huts. A waterfall where it’s super mossy and foresty, or “a walk in the park” where you have a little path with a stream, some benches, and lots of grass, and big trees or willow trees. A hobbit house where you have a path leading up to a big hill/mound where inside she has a big little underground house to go in where the top is covered with grass or moss

Galapogos cage theme! You'd have to look up the Galapagos Islands to see the climate and get some inspiration. I think it would be very nice, with a carribean/tropical feel to it. The Galapogos islands seem to have some rocky terrain based on the pictures I've seen as well, which would be interesting.

Maybe you could do a desert orrrrr to match with your room you could make her a candy wonderland or something like that! I know it isn’t really a “natural” theme but I think it would be super cute!

I think a desert theme would be lovely to try out in the large cage! I'd also love to see a fairy garden in the large theme, you've done one of that theme before, but on a smaller scale. Woodland, flower garden, tundra, meadow, mountain, tropical islands could all be fun. Maybe even treetop/treehouse theme? If Kashi ends up liking having things changed up then you might end up trying a few different themes. I love the natural aesthetic. Edit because I immediately thought of more things: Or pondside theme could be cool. Water gardens with lilies and frogs, etc? With appropriately colored bedding instead of bodies of water of course. Perhaps also look into different gardening styles for inspiration? Like an English garden theme, French garden theme, Japanese garden theme, Greek garden theme, etc could be fun. Though probably Kashi would quickly destroy the order of those. Oceanside or underwater theme? This is probably too many ideas. ^^

it would be amazing if you could do some kind of nautical theme, TONS of blue and white bedding around most of the cage as an ocean with maybe some wooden boats and submarines, then in opposite corners you could have a "beach" sand pit with a lighthouse, wooden docks and maybe even a carnival (hamster wheel and play set)! and in the other corner a "tropical island" still using some of the natural pieces from the rainforest. i think it would look amazing and you could introduce so many toys! There would be bedding, sand, dirt and mulch. :)

Since the cage is so big how about a new theme for half of the cage at a time. She'll always have something familiar but gets to explore something new every few weeks. Also, how about an interactive play box where she can dig and find food or chew toys

One of my absolute favorite cages you've done was Gingersnap's beach/ocean theme. If you did that, you could also have a desert portion of the cage in addition to a beach portion. Love your videos!

Someone else suggested a meadow theme, and I love that idea! I have a few things to add to that. Moss and soil would look good in that cage. Maybe you could put tunnels/pvc pipes below the surface for Kashi to dig in...? Small rocks and cork logs would be nice, too.

I think a desert cage theme would be pretty cool! So would a tropical beach theme. You could make little bungalows and blue and green bedding as the ocean. You could also add lots of sand like the desert theme.

I did a Beach Getaway theme for my dwarf hamster Sprinkles. I think that would be a cute idea. I used Aspen bedding for the beach and blue carefresh bedding for the water. He even has his own little beach house and a palm tree 😊

As a Zelda Fan. I'd love a Hyrule themed cage, it would be incredible! Btw, how can you know if you're hamster is bored.... I was wondering because my dwarf hamster is in a 450sq inches bin cage and she never chews constantly, but idk, I think my hamster has different ways to show her stress but I can't identify them.

Perhaps a Narnia theme? You could try to do a natural theme with a winter setting. White bedding, copious wooden material, natural decor (i.e. "trees") and maybe even Mr. Tumnus' cabin as well as a Barbie wardrobe or something (lol)? A snowy forest wallpaper? Though I understand if it would be a pain to discard all of that aspen just for an aesthetic change.

I always thought this was the perfect cage so it's hard to think of ways to make it better! I know my hamster loves the bird toy with the hanging coconuts you can climb in so I'm not sure if there are any more natural looking hanging pieces she could climb up in. Or if you do a desert theme it would be adorable to have a 2 story sand castle looking hamster play house for her to explore, but I have zero idea where to find that. Lol maybe in my fantasy :P

I think a desert theme would be awsome i think she would match a desert theme perfectly here are some of my suggestions * have a corner full of sand *have some puddles of "water" (blue bedding) and around you can add some plants and instead of a bowl for the "water" you can make a arrangement of rocks *and instead of a regular bowl for her food you can use a water bowl *add some cactus everywhere *im not sure if hamsters are aloud this but if you can you could add succulents *maybe some fake snakes in her sand And you can print out an amazing background with tumble weeds around Ps im thinking of makeing a cage theme for my male hamster he is what the store called an "albino" sorry i dont know how to spell that but they called him that cuz his coat is full white and he has red eyes so please leave a suggestion in the comments thank you xoxo ill probably record it and put it on my so call "channel" lol

You should put a flying saucer and a wheel in her new cage to see if she prefers one over the other. In the desert theme you should put the soft granule bedding, sand, and aspen shavings. With the new cage you could do the same with her rainforest cage with the underground tunnel in deep aspen bedding. If you do have a desert theme there should be an oasis, cause why not 💁. For the oasis you could use your wood branches and stuff to make like a secret place and the oasis could be blue bedding. Terra cotta pots and a cactus would be really cool in a desert theme.

I was just about to say to do a desert theme! Another thing that would be neat is some kind of snow theme, like maybe Alaskan. I’m not sure how you would do it, but there could be an ice fishing section, ice sculptures (use non toxic blue paint on ceramic figures), a little hill or something with a sled, and maybe you could find snowy ceramic trees. Just something I thought would be cool if you could figure out a way to do it

You're probably already building, but I think she might look a little washed out with all the sand in a desert cage theme. But your cages always turn out spectacular so I'm sure you could still find a way to make her pop! This would be hard, but I was thinking more of a snow and rock themed cage? You could get fake, hamster safe snow for her to dig in and maybe try to find or make some pine trees. You could also build little rocky structures. Another idea would be a beach theme. Kind of like the dessert, but you could add palm trees and shells and maybe some fake animals such as crabs or turtles. Just some ideas :) (sorry its so long)

I would like to add something of her natural environment. For example, something she can really dig in and build her own tunnels. Or you could add real plants. My parents had a terrarium for snakes of the size of a big wardrobe and the plants were very nice in it.

You could do a Taiga (snowy pine forrest). I think it would look really cool xD
