The most intelligent comment I ever heard on the topic of Kashmir is by Indian Economist Amartya Sen and he said " India has a functional democracy but it doesn't works in Kashmir, Pakistan has dictatorship and they want democracy in Kashmir"

As a youngster, I don't have much knowledge of history, but a sound awareness of present. I am student at IIT Kanpur , here I see my Kashmiri brothers doing world class research in technology and science. We eat together, play together and learn together. There is no such discrimination with kasmiri youths in India, they are provided with equal opportunity. I wonder if they would have given same world class education in Pakistan. As both IND and Pak are entering 75th year of independence, we should attain path of peace and work for upliftment of common people leaving behind colonial scars. Thanks

Thats good Deepak, but you can't generalize your own experience on the whole issue. I have been in Middle East for 16 years and had mainly Indian friends including Kashmiries. No Kashmiri had anything good to say about Indian activities there. Imagine being born in a place that looks like army barracks and hearing and seeing military attrocities on a daily basis. The mindset of the people will be completely different than ours. Perhaps its a little same in Balouchistan for us, but not exactly due to no religious divide.

Indeed bro kashmir issue revolves around the whole kashmir region (azad kashmir, gilgit baltistan, jammu & kashmir, ladakh, aksai chin, trans karakoram etc.) But it must be noted that the worst kind of human rights abuses which includes indian army's rape with kashmiri women no justice for these women and punishment for the particular indian personell, tear gas on innocent youth, children and blinding them with it, missing persons case etc. All these just for one thing, give us the right to vote for ourselves of whom we want to join or want to remain independent and this has been ignored since 1947. Until india doesn't become serious regarding this issue, this issue will go on and the region won't move forward

@@younisshahgillani9683 Don't believe in all the news you hear from the media about the Indian army killing & raping civilians. We hear the same about your army in Pakistani Kashmir too. In fact it was proven that the Pakistani army did these things to the people of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) in 1971. The only solution to Kashmir is the 1948 UN resolution. But Pakistan themselves have failed to follow the 1st step which is to demilitarize in Kashmir before any plebiscite takes place. Honestly I don't understand why Pakistan wants Kashmir when with all due respect they aren't able to handle their own country. Economy on the verge of collapse, the PM himself admitting to be beggars, the political instability & various terrorist & separatist movements. Why do you want to spoil the lives of Kashmiris? The biggest tragedy of Kashmir is radicalization of Kashmiri youth by Pakistan in the name of religion. Pakistan is radicalizing their youth and sending into Kashmir why would they care of Kashmiri youth. Pakistan has miscalculated Nehru he is too much of discussions and international laws person. He waited for 15 years before liberating Goa and took full 1 year to go into Hyderabad that too it was Patel decision. Pakistan could not wait for 1 month into invade Kashmir. India lost opportunity in 1947 itself. Pakistan tried its hand in 4 wars, not yet learned a lesson given the tweets by PM and other influential politicians. Only option is leave it as is and develop respective countries. India never ever commented on Pakistan statements or tweets it is just waste of time.

The reasons behind the historical animosity between India and Pakistan - and its continuation for last seven decades - is not simply due to a territorial dispute in Kashmir. It runs much deeper than that… and is steeped in the religious ideology of Pakistan which was the pivot for their separation from British India in 1947 where Hindus were in majority. Pakistan was born out of Hindu hatred by Muslims in British India… An overwhelming majority (more than 90%) of Muslims in British India voted in favour of creation of Pakistan as a separate homeland for themselves. The leader of Muslims in British India - Mohammad Ali Jinnah was so obsessed with having India partitioned… he even said at Kanpur on March 30, 1941, that "in order to liberate seven crores of Muslims where they were in a majority (East & West Pakistan) he was willing to perform the last ceremony of martyrdom, if necessary, and let two crores of Muslims (in India) be smashed". Many of Indian Muslims did not expect it to happen… and when Pakistan was actually created in 1947 - they chickened out of migrating to their promised land! So 1/3rd of the Muslim population in British India stayed back in India and by 1970 Pakistan was bifurcated into 2 parts - now called Pakistan and Bangladesh - each with roughly 1/3rd of the muslim population from original British India. This tri-furcation of Muslim population was the best thing that happened for the Indian Sub-continent! It helped India to come out a dominant Islamic fundamentalism within the country and focus on economy and development. Today it’s GDP is more than 10 times that of Pakistan and it is growing much faster. Subsequently, Bangladesh also focused on economy and human development and has today surpassed Pakistan in terms of GDP and other development parameters. Pakistan remains focused on India-hatred and blows out 70% of its budget in feeding its Army - which runs the country. The Pak Army brutally exploits the country and its people while these very stupid and brainwashed people continue to idolise them. There is no escape for Pakistan from this spiral!

I as a resident of Kashmir believe that the policies of Pakistan have failed . The most appropriate reason is that the kashmiri leadership was not able to put the main idea of this struggle into the minds of the common masses, and the second reason I realised is that the ground leadership massacred and looted people at gunpoint. There is a saying in urdu 'Bandar kae haath mein ustra dedo woh Kya karega' . Now, those people are propagating on the pulpits . Can people accept them? The only solution I can give is that Pakistan has to shift and put the rope of leadership into the hands of the youth.

If ppl like Fazal ur Rehman r president of Kashmir committee if the parliament , u think some thought was being given seriously to Kashmir resolution ? 2. hindutva is reaction to jihad. India is secular state. Our education system is secular our society is secular. Our History book in school never used that muslims divided India, it only subtly criticise muslim league party. We dont read about 1948, 1965 1971 wars in our school curriculum. Moreover, oir literature books our language books of punjabi hindi english story peom books have equal representation of all religious identity indian heros. We read about Abdul Hamid indian martyr, khilafat movement, Abdul kalam our first education minister, Dr. AP j abdul kalam our greatest scientist, president ever. Every engineer like me had Dr. APJ saab as our ideal whether he is sikh hindu or Muslim. Even in all private and public schools there is no discrimination Hindus sikhs Jains parsis muslims christians study together play together. even going to each others home and celebrating festivals is common. Yes there is rise of radicalisation in India but it didn't start from BJP. Congress after emergeny in 1975, heavily relied on religion and started sponsoring hindu votes as before that it was heavily seen as muslim appeasment party giving over representation to minority in ministries, petrol pump allotments, free haj, Aid to 10s of thousands madrasas while taxing hindu temples. For Winning 1985 election, Congress created Hindu sikh issue by patronising differt sikh sects that had armed in fight later bhindrawala group grabbed power and become direct enemy of state. This mismanagement created religious divide in India. Further, after Indira gandhi death, Congress was weak so for muslim appeasement it over ruled the cout ruling of Shah bano case where alimony was demanded from her husband but due to muslim pwrsonal law board, Congress came up with new legislation in Parliament so it created religious tensions among hind and Muslims and congress was seen as Muslim appeasemnt party going beyond Constitution. To control Hindunresentment, popular measures were taken by congress like opening Babri masjid for Hindu pilgrimage, Ramayan and Mahabharat Hindu epic serial production which further infuse Hindu nostalgia about past just like Ertgul a fictional series has done in the muslim world. Later Incident of babri masjix happen. Muslims voters moved to regional parties like TMC, NC, Samajwadi party and others as they were disillusioned with convress. BJP gained Hindu votes. Over the time, BJP become stronger. and stronger due to incompetent dynasty opposition. Muslim waqf board should have dialogue with Vishwa hindu parishad and RSS for long term peace and harmony. Two things that can help muslims is by Banning cow slaughter and discouraging muslims not to kill cows. Most of mob lynchings in India is dominated by incidents where Muslim cattle traders were killed for selling beef, cow slaughter. So If muslims would respecr cultural sensitivity in India they can escape from reaction from Hindus who worship cows. Similarly, Ayodhya, Kashi and mathura r temporal holy cities of Hindus just like Mecca Madina. Ayodhya Babri masjid case is solved but yet There r big mosques in Kashi and Mathura built Inside Temple grounds sharing boundary walls to humiliate hindus by Muslim rulers so when ever evry year hindus go there they hate muslims more for encroaching their most pious temples in the world so it create religious divide. Matter is in court, hopefully these 2 temples when returned to hindu community, there would be less resentment in Hindu community. Better is that waqf boards should voluntary give back this land rather than court ruling, then it would create positivity and more harmoney. Indian state and billionaires r already willing to pay for land and construction of replacement mosques in outskirts of these holy city but Waqf boards had ego issues. Sooner or later hindus by court aquire these mosques so better is to do this voluneerly. Dialogue must be initiated among waqf board for better result rather than taking hard position. Waqf boards should understand cultural and religious sensitivity of Indian domain. Hopefully U learn from this comment as hindutwa is often misrepresented.

In my personal opinion, the sole reason why Pakistan has failed to get hold of Kashmir in last 40 years is its unstable and poor economic situation. It is impossible for a country which cannot provide basic facilities to its citizens, to think beyond status and include another state under weak financial conditions. Secondly both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers so a conventional war is out of question. Are you ready for this eventuality after losing Bangladesh? I hope you are. 🙂 Today the situation is different: IN is doing G20 meets and arranging for investment from Saudis and UAE in Kashmir - while PK is losing control of KP to TTP and Baluchistan to BLA. Also - Kashmiris in IN have had a taste of development - which is making residents of PoK and Gilgit restless and wanting the same and be part of their brethren in Indian Administered Jammu & Kashmir. It will be interesting to see how you address their aspirations - when you cannot even address the aspirations of Punjabis. 🙂 So - my guess is the only option left for PK - is a face-saving surrender - which was what Musharaff had negotiated with Manmohan Singh. Now that formula will form the baseline to start negotiations with PK by Modi. Thanks to Musharaff - IN knows PK's bottom-line. Also - IN has created significantly advantages over PK in economy - and hence in negotiations - since the Musharaff deal was negotiated.

You presented your thoughts very well and in an even-tempered manner. My take is this. India is based on secularism. It cannot let Kashmir secede on basis of religion as few other regions may then demand the same. Also India can't be seen to give up in front of armed militancy. For Pakistan it wants Kashmir since it thinks that it should have come to it due to muslim majority. Also the loss of a big territory in form of Bangladesh increased the need for some payback. And both the countries also want it because whoever controls the territory will also control the water of many rivers. Water is going to be increasingly an important resource in this world. But the reality is neither India can take Pakistani Kashmir not Pakistan can take Indian Kashmir. Only viable option is to turn the LOC to border. And then develop respective parts in the best way possible. For the argument that this solution does not take into account what majority Kashmiris want then this is not the first time that has happened in this world. Did Tibetans get their self determination? Or Uighyurs? Or Kurds? We have to live in the practical world not an imaginary one.

Sir, Kashmir issue is always cause of bone of contention between India and Pakistan. Actually, Pakistan couldn't present it's agenda on international arena in this regard. Pakistan remained occupied and up to ear in some other affairs like Afghanistan war over last 4 decades almost. This provided space for India to advocate it's agenda worldwide. Pakistan is not looking forward with a calculative policy. Establishment considers it dead horse now. We have supported arms forces in IOK but we couldn't make sufficient solutions for this issue as lingering on this issue served the agenda of establishment and it tightened it's grip over political and miltay sphere through Kashmir cause. It never made steps to tackle the calamity of situation. Sorry to hear about your family background

In conclusion, Peerzada says Kashmir is the core issue which, if it were resolved would have normalised India - Pak relations. That's a fallacy. Truth is, Kashmir is not the core issue. For Pakistanis to be specific. Fact is, the Pakistanis have an itch to fight and defeat India militarily. A kind of inferiority complex and identity crisis provokes Muslims to raise the flag of Jihad. Kashmir is just a pawn in that struggle. If Kashmir were resolved whichever way, the Jihadis would be fired up for another cause. Maybe 'suppression' of Indian muslims? Gazwa e Hind? Why did Pakistan not go to the UN instead of Nehru? Why did they choose to send infiltrators in 1948 and in 1965? And again in Kargil? That itch will not go away. From 1947 till 1989, Kashmir was fairly quiet. It's only after the Jihadi mindset that arose after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan that Kashmir became an Islamic terror hotspot. India cannot afford to lose ground on Kashmir.

Moeed sahab, thanks for the video and analysis. You've pointed out "flaws" in Pakistan policy since late 1940s (conveniently blaming those who are mostly dead and cannot defend themselves now - as an analyst therefore a DISCLAIMER was in order)... May I point out flaws, even misleading arguments in YOUR analysis :- 1. PMs of India like Narasimha Rao, Vajpayee, Manmohan Singh DID promise "Sky is the limit" yes - but NOT to Pakistan but only to Kashmiris AND within the constitution and sovereignty of India - PLEASE NOTE. 2. Blaming Musharraf (too unwell to defend himself) is easy , but it was yur fellow Kashmiri Syed Ali Geelani and his violence based street politics that chiefly undermined the peace process in mid 2000s. 3. Completely absolving Imran Khan from any blame? Sir, WHO was PM from Aug 2019 till recently? And WHAT did he DO on Kashmir other than empty rhetoric and renaming roads? D-uh!! 😁 4. Forgetting to mention acceptance of Junagarh accession (Sep 15, 1947) - i.e BEFORE Kashmir was even an issue. That set a BAD precedent. Overall, the basis of all these flaws points to a FUNDAMENTAL flaw in Pakistanis -- more than policy, but of MINDSET, ideology, and attitudes (as a nation on politics) and that shows especially in your last 3-4 mins of this segment. Kashmir is only a symptom, NOT the actual disease. Disease is - Regarding yourselves as "Conquerors" (of Hindus and Indian lands, evidence in this video too!) has now turned your nation into Paupers. Mindset, attitudes of "jihad" "kaafir" "Gaddaar" etc (based on religion and emotion) with no end in sight means that India as a nation can NEVER TRUST Pakistan as a nation, full stop. My own disclaimer - am not referring to any specific Indian or Pakistani, but as a country. Thank you.

1. Kashmir is not a fundamental problem between India and Pakistan, but its the nature of Pakistan, i.e Army, Politicians and People. The Pakistani army takes a big chunk of money out of their annual budget even now when there is great economic turmoil in the country. They need to justify their expenses so they destabilize the valley and antagonize India. 2. Many Pakistani Politicians have expressed their concern over the UNSC resolution 47. The very first point of that resolution was that Pakistan should withdraw its military from the region, which it had not done yet. Even though Indian does not support that resolution because even the resolution recognized the Pakistani illegal intervention so principally Pakistan has no stake in Kashmir because Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir ceded its territory to India. 3. Pakistani never had any upper hand in any war. In 1948, the Indian army would have captured all the Kashmir by force but Nehru was a pacifist and he did not feel that war was required when the territory was legally ceded to India. 4. Pakistan could have developed a friendly environment with India, many important Hindu temples were in Pakistan, if they had developed them instead of demolishing them then they would have benefitted from Hindu pilgrimage. But the radical nature of Islam did not allow that. In my conclusion, Kashmir has not been an issue between India and Pakistan. It was forcefully created by the Pakistani Army and politicians. Article 370 had lost its weight even before the abrogation. Kashmiri had migrated to other states of India for education and career opportunity. Just a few radical Islamist groups who just want the freedom to kill kafirs have problem. Otherwise, Jammu and Kashmir is on the right path.

How all these Pakistani experts on Indian side of Jammu and Kashmir never have anything to say about the conditions & developments in Pakistani controlled so called "azad" Kashmir. Only once I heard some comments by Arzoo Kazmi about the pathetic mobile network, terrible road conditions and lack of educational facilities there. Do you guys really think PM Modi will do a U-turn on article 370 ?? Wake up guys and stop wasting yours and every one else's time. The way infrastructure projects are going on in Kashmir valley and Ladakh wait and see the transformation in the next 10 years. With the condition of the economy in Pakistan today, it'll be a while before POK can see better days.

Kashmir was supposed to be in Pakistan but greediness of Jinnah towards Hyderabad and junagarh make him indecisive and he refused election praposal of sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in J&K . Ultimately greediness given all 3 estates to India . Indian are still not so much interested in Kashmir valley but they can't digest this concept that it must be the part of Pakistan for muslim population . If that so then why India should be secular country . If India declares them sanatani country then i have no objection for Kashmir valley .

I have also gone through ur debate with UK based Kashmiri journalist and BJP leader on TRT world. It was also ur impressive opioion that both 🇵🇰 & 🇮🇳 done blundered and ppl of Kashmir has suffered a lot during this course of history.Presently, situation is not at all in favour of 🇵🇰 bcos we have intentionally lost focus from this issue as on the eve of celebrating 75 yrs of independence, unfortunately, we are still striving for durable political structure in our country

Here's a simple truth - if you keep demanding kashmir, no chance of you getting it, but the kashmiris will lose even what rights and freedom they already had. Kashmir (at least valley region) was already 95% M majority. You had your own people, culture, religious freedom. You had your own govt, you even had your own separate constitution and flag in kashmir. Now what do they have? - kashmir fully integrated into India - J&K not even a state any more - governor rule - And more army and police Pleass let the people live there peacefully.

Unfortunarely the whole debate reduces itself into a solution based on religion which is a flawed basis. Pakistan itself has divided POK into 2. Both are muslims but Azad Kashmir is Sunni whereas GB is Shia. No trust there between muslims ! Further Ladakh is a Buddhist dominnated area which China wants for itself to integrate into Tibet. Already they have occupied Aksai Chin. A complete solution cannot be found now ignoring the Chinese.

India has always been a very miserable place for the poor and common people. We were told that Pakistan will be a heaven for the poor but Pakistan is also a hell for the poor and common people. While the third worst country for the poor and common people is Bangladesh. It has been proved that all the resources of these countries have always been in the possession of only the upper corrupt class and this class continues to exploit the poor and common people.

Prosperity and Human Development Index of IN and BGD far exceed that of PK - for your information. And it is only in PK that its elite has performed an "elite capture" - and continues to exploit the poor. Meanwhile IN has a 400 million strong thriving middle-class - which is why it is such an attractive market. So, your point is??? According to me - it ought to be that PK is a failed state - while its neighbours have all made significant and substantial progress. :-)

Pakistanis feel comforted in their misery, if they can feel that India is worse or equally bad. Unfortunately for Pakistanis like you, that is no longer true and will be less true each passing year. India according to World Bank projections _will continue to be the fastest growing economy in the world_ for the next decade, while Pakistan will continue making repeated trips to the IMF with its begging bowl. That is, if it even survives this upcoming recession.

@@vinamrasinghai2339 Correct! Pakistan was created for the feudal lords - the rich Muslim _zamindars_ of North India. The other 99% riffraff just exist in Pakistan to attend to the feudal lords' needs.

The only reason you added the last part of "Has India won" was to keep cool with the Pakistani Establishment and atleast be a little bit on the Pakistani narrative which is totally understandable in your case. But yes it's a brilliant analysis. To put it simply yes Pakistan has lost and India is in the winning process already
