All Anthony needed was Kate to show forth a little response to his advances... he's on a mission, to get married. If Kate won't have him, Edwina is his next choice. Anthony spent the entire show being so aggravated that Kate would not give him a signal that his efforts are not being wasted. It's hard to be mad at Kate for it, you feel for her because its obvious that she wants Anthony, but she is being so selfless, and has so much at stake. Kate is the epitome of exercising self control, so much to a fault. If Kate kissed him in that library, there is no way he would have proposed to Edwina. He'd been like "I don't care if I'm in love or not, I just want more of Kate's affection, move over Edwina!" Maybe, maybe not, who knows. But it would have been WAY worse if Kate kissed him back, and THEN he proposed to Edwina. Kate should have locked it in when she had the chance (but she can rightfully blame Daphne, so again, its hard to be mad at Kate)... she knew Edwina would have other suiters at her doorstep.
You can tell Benedict usually gets talked into a corner by his know-it-all brother. His bodylanguage screams "finally someone to verbally b!tchslap my brother".😘 She can verbally keep up with Antony...she outdoes him actually. And I have a feeling Benedict is usually in Antony's position when he does it to him. He is enjoying this little bit of karma.

For kantony a fast working brain that can think outside of the box does it for them. Someone who can keep them on their toes mentally. A little verbal wrestling match from time to time keeps things interesting. Someone with a personality and mind of their own to debate and bounce ideas off of. Hot! They were racing each other on the horse. And they were racing each other mentally all season long. Well that marriage will never be boring thats for sure.
A few things I noted from this episode. 1. Kate and Anthony’s clothes were coordinated when they were having tea with Edwina. 2. Edwina really showed she wasn’t that interested in actually knowing Anthony, she ignored everything Kate said about him, but also did not take on board what Daphne said about Anthony. If I thought a man was even tempered but his sister said he wasn’t I would possible take more note of his interactions and reflect on past interactions with others, because it is obvious he is putting on an act and that his behaviour is not true to himself. 3. It was obvious Anthony was distressed about the idea of Kate returning to India. 4. Daphne thought Anthony was going to end the courtship of Edwina when it appeared as though he accepted he loved Kate, but of course his fear of love sent him running in the opposite direction, but I think that he regretted it almost immediately. 5. Edwina seems to be more in love with the idea of being a Viscountess, and what he can give her rather than Anthony himself, she doesn’t even know him.
Completely agree with everything Edwina is defintely in love with this idea of being viscountess so everything that is right in front of her eyes goes over her head and you would think she would be able to read the room and read Kate's body language but apparently not they just made her seem i am sorry to say it but a little to naive . like you can be naive like Daphne in season 1 but something is so obvious you must be blind not to see or in your own world.
Yesss! And I think they are matching very subtlety the whole season, which I love. Also I saw someone saying that if you look closely at Anthony’s ring box at the proposal scene, you’ll notice it kind of matches what Kate is wearing in that moment! Omg

Yes, I notice that they both are very much coordinating on their clothing choices, a lovely little nod from the costume designers. Also, on their costumes, for both of them their clothes become lighter and looser as the season goes on to show their journey to falling in love, Kate’s hair and makeup also changes as the season goes on. It is a really clever way to show something in a non verbal way, which I like.
I hope it's not too big a spoiler if I say that Edwina is going to say "have I really be this blind" (or something similar..). And yes, you are. She is completely unaware of the undercurrents that are tossing Kanthony around. Daphne and Lady D sees them clearly, Violet too (maybe not this clearly, but she is noticing it), and the other bunch is unaware or too much into their own problems to notice. @@wg3464 yesss, and maybe I’m overthinking it lol but Anthony and Edwina’s clothes are very contrasting. Like they really highlight the way their roles align (as Anthony said), him as the viscount and her as the diamond. While Anthony and Kate look almost like the same person in a lot of scenes.
Anthony was so afraid of love that he stuck to his guns about marrying a suitable partner without messy feelings. He was reacting to Daphne identifying his feelings of love, and all he could understand was that the feeling is chaotic. In order to gain back control of himself, he went with what appeared to be the "safer" option. Foolish boy.

Ever since I have watched Season 2, I am obsessed with Kate and Anothony. I have rewatched their scenes more times than I am able to count, and my job performance is seriously suffering. Their chemistry is crazy intense. Like WTF? It is a lightning in a bottle to have your leads to have THIS level of chemistry. Also I am enjoying your reactions so so very much. During the dance scene it seemed to me she was kind of leading the dance probably because she used to teach Edwina to dance and because she such a dominant and confident type of person (she probably dances better than him, you can see the way she was kind of pushing/correcting his hand during the hands movement), this detail sends me.
Good catch - Jonathan Bailey said that the difference in dynamic between Anthony/Kate and Anthony/Edwina is also displayed in choreography. Choreography for A/E was basically Anthony always leading while in A/K dances it was also Kate who was leading so it was more equal relationship.
I think one of the best thing about this season is definitely how the other characters behind kate and anthony react to them being clowns 😂 it’s so much fun picking up their reactions on a rewatch.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Kate and Lady Danbury. In the beginning Kate seemed so sure of herself but now knows she has much to learn about the real world

You can tell during the hunting scene he was ready to talk about that moment he was like give me something . The thigh glance he couldn’t handle it . The power she has over him I love it !The library scene I love that they both opened up to one another about their dads. That dance destroyed me the song the glances everything . You can see Anthony being like omg are u feeling what I’m feeling ? I love that he told Kate it matters what she thinks . The sheer panic on his face when he found out she was going to India he short circuited, when he said u would abandon her he meant him . He panicked so much he ran to the study and couldn’t think and was frustrated why she didn’t like him he challenged her to admit she felt something as well. Daphne I love u but at that moment I wanted to scream lol . The teasing makes me want more lol . I love that daphne tried to help but unfortunately Anthony with his trauma ran the other way. U can even see when she said feelings of love the panic on his face and when she left the pain of what he knew he was going to do. Poor Kate when she cried with lady danubury and when she witness it she was hoping it was to her . My heart broke for her in that moment . The chemistry is INSANE'!! Give Simione and Jonny Emmy’s !!
Without spoilers, there are some great scenes coming up and I can’t wait to see your reaction to them. I will say one thing, not sure of the validity, but I have read that a lot of Kate’s actions are motivated by cultural norms for older sisters in South Asian families, as much as her own baggage, with this thought it makes it easier to understand where she is coming from. That is something I like about this season, how much I have discovered about the small cultural nods that have been put into the show without any big deal, which is how it should be.
and not just older south asian daughter, when you look at how she keeps her feelings to herself, and is restrained when it comes to the way she reacts, it reminds me a lot of Elinor dashwood (emma thompson) and Jane Bennet (Rosamund Pike)

I thought when Anthony took the book from Kate that he would offer to read to her, just like her Appa used to do, to calm her nerves about the storm. But Apparently not. Maybe this can still be something they do as a married couple. It would be so cute!

The proposal scene was so painful to watch 😭 and I'll never recover from the trauma of watching it! My poor Kate 😭 and asshole Anthony , i know it's his trauma that's making him do it but still I'll whack him if I get a chance for putting Kate through all of it! 😭
I am laughing so hard!!! I binged the entire S2 in less than 24 hours when it came out in March and I have watched it many times since. That being said, your reactions are amazing! I completely agree with your opinions and I'm having so much fun watching your videos. :)
Rewatching season 2 and all of your episodes reactions, made me full aware of how good the first part of S2 is in comparison of the first part of S3: the intense chemistry of the main couple as the ship of this season, but as individuals too.. there are SO much interesting and deep conflicted, relatable characters. The trope enemies to lovers journey, the dances, the music, the slow burn. The technical aspects as well: the pace of editing, the photography, the frames... SUPERIOR in all aspects.
I actually can understand why Anthony asked Edwina to marry him to a certain extent. Marrying the sister means zero chance of ever having anything with Kate (they're sisters!), which is what he's afraid of. I'm guessing he wouldn't be able to have her even as a mistress. And he probably doesn't think it'd be a bad bargain for Edwina, who'd get a cool title and wealth benefits. But I don't know how he rationalizes that it'd be better for Kate haha I never thought about it upon watching, but he actually didn't think about her at all! It's just sad...
In the book the trauma around his father's death also resulted in a very strong (if not rational) belief he would die young. His father died at 38 and he doesn't believe he could ever live up to his father in any way, including the age at which he died. So his absolute rejection of the idea of a love marriage also has to do with the fact that he wouldn't want to leave someone behind grieving him. In a sense he probably thinks he's doing Kate a favor by not marrying her. Still very sad but not necessarily a bad intention.
@@Suus929 Yeah...I really didn't like that part of the book, it felt way too surreal to me, I couldn't believe it haha I think the show handled Anthony's fear of love better. He's still worried about inflicting grief to a loved one in S2, but I think in this particular moment he's more scared of love itself (and maybe being the one grieving down the line). He's not thinking about Kate at all, or he would have proposed to somebody else (marrying her sister is the *worst* he could do to her). It's totally understandable, fear and trauma do that to people. It just kind of sucks for Kate!

I love your energy watching this, I see myself in that a lot. You notice every look and that is so enjoyable to see someone so excited about every tiny interaction. I didn’t like that either. SPOILER ALERT! Nor did I like Edwina having a sulk festival over Kate and Anthony being more attracted to each other. Book Edwina was supportive and happy for her sister and Anthony. I wish they explore Kate’s fear of storms and had the bee sting sucking since it would be symbolic as the bee took Anthony’s dad but got him his future wife and kids. The bee taketh and giveth.
SPOILERS Edwina seemed more infatuated by Antony than obsessed. He seemed to be the perfect man for her to marry and she definitely comes across as more sheltered compared to Kate, so her idolizing him and seeing him in a more naive, lovestruck light makes sense for how she is presented in the show. I've not read the books but based on what the show showed us, Edwina had never been betrayed like that before. How would someone realistically feel if they learnt on their wedding day, standing at the ALTAR, that their sister and husband-to-be were in love with one another? It would be devastating because she wanted that love for herself but instead, Kate got it, as naive as that sounds. Edwina by that point had imagined her entire future with Anthony and had been led along on the premise that he was loyal and as infatuated/in love with her as she was with him. Her taking it badly makes sense for a girl without experience in love and relationships. It makes more sense that she would be upset that Kate took it away and then would later grow supportive once she worked through her heartbreak and recognised Kate's sacrifices for her and how her and Anthony work way better.
@@NoirRose21 I disagree i dislike that Anthony tried to suck the venom out in the books which led to yet another forced marriage. It seems repetitive and very stupid lmao. Edwina being mad in the show added more to her character and it made sense for her to be annoyed.
I could not handle another forced marriage plot, especially for Kate and Anthony. I think the show was ultimately better because in the end they had agency in the narrative to make their own choice about marrying each other-and I LOVE that they both married for true love and for no other reason. It was also poetic to see Anthony being selfless and saying “I love you, I always did, you don’t have to embrace it or allow it, I just want you to know it. I love you.” Like oh my GOD it was the absolute best ending to this emotional slowburn, imo. Also, I honestly like Edwina and thought the failed wedding aftermath gave her more layers and much more clarity/insight into people. Now she can “adult” better, observe people better, and fall in love with the actual person they are before worrying about what title or wealth she will receive. Anthony pays her dowry in the book, it’s a nice gesture I hope they don’t forget to do in later seasons.

My only issue with this episode is that they really should have kept more stuff from the library scene in the books in the show. That could have been a great bonding moment for them. We as viewers would have also gotten insight to Kate's backstory they maybe could have done a flashback.

Agreed; even if in the book it was buried deep down, there could have just been a line about how Kate doesn't do well with storms because they remind her of her mother's passing. It would also explain why the flash of thunder/lightning was enough to cut through the feelings and scare Kate away.
I’m glad they didn’t do that…the book was boring…besides, the Kate in the book is quite insecure, and a plain Jane. There is no instant chemistry between Anthony and Kate in the book, at least not like the kind of sizzling energy that is between the Netflix Anthony and Kate. The die-hard fans who favor the book over the show, keep forgetting that difference… When 2 people meet, and the chemistry is as insane as it is with Kate and Anthony on the show, the energy between you, feeling like you’ve known this person your whole life, feeling their energy when they enter a room you’re in, even if you are standing facing the opposite direction…trust me, the bond is there! And when you do meet someone with that much chemistry between you, it is SCARY! So I do get why Anthony ran the other direction and proposed to Edwina. But I wish the readers who liked the book so much would stop comparing..the show is based on the characters in the book, but it is not a literal depiction, thank goodness…
Okay, so I'm working on spec scripts for season 3 (essentially professional fanfic for screenwriters lol) and I've been rewatching S1+2 and making beat sheets. Watching this video was my reward for finishing two more episodes and I can't wait to watch you scream over episode 5 now. This episode honestly made me even more mad at Anthony on rewatch lol, but I will never get over Marina putting in a good word for Penelope with Colin. This sweet little idiot needs to move on and fall in love with Penelope already. I know it's not their season yet, but the Kanthony angst is too overwhelming, I needed more Polin reprieve.
