☼ is that what you heard? it is a fine narrative. & it is a fine girl-boss story. for reasons you point out: if youre someone that doesnt reall care about it - AND was there fro the start, unlike the fans...i mean we all make choices on where to invade. you know what story i dont actually know? Rian Jhnson, how he got the job w/what seems like no real cv. the answer is usually in the parents or their siblings/spouses in these cases, i find. Also in the cases where no risks were taken or - it is just nearly always the case. so... is he Lyndon Johnsons son's wifes sisters son?
I feel like that's always been the case. The sad part is that she's going to land on her feet somewhere else...and do the exact same thing all over again.
Man, I love star wars since I was a kid. I am a girl, and I looked up to luke not being overtaken by all the darkness in his life. A man who didn't know his parents, fought for everything he got, and even when he was losing he was winning in the end. He taught me perseverance, even when shit hits the fan you got to trudge through it. He taught me that even when you face your demons that are stronger than you, you can still win without resorting to the darker things of life. Rei, a female who is suppose to be a role model for females taught me that if you have a certain bloodline you can know everything and do everything and be a little shit. So, yea I think I will go with luke on this one since I am probably born to sheep herders etc, and don't come from wealth.
I respect what you say. Any written character can be a role model, but they must have a strong and believable character development arc and a logical, natural progression in the nature and flow of the story. One mistake that people like Kathleen Kennedy make is that they are blinded by that fact that a strong lead character should be a girl, forget whether she has any weaknesses as a character or a logical journey to follow. More often than not they forget that people need to associate, believe in and look up to these characters and then they are loved. It was never about whether they were man or woman, heterosexual or homosexual, good or evil, it was building a believable, loveable and creative character within a believable, lovable and creative universe to escape from realities. Perhaps to further the point, another reason why characters might not be liked might be because they attack the politics of the world, rather than unite the humanity within all of us?
Im a male and even tho the new lead was going to be female, it didn’t shake my excitement at all. I was super happy for more Star Wars, but you summed everything up perfectly, the lead was shit not for gender, but for literally everything else.
What Star Wars was is something that everyone can enjoy regardless of who you are or how you choose to identify yourself. What it is now is just utterly unrecognizable garbage from the masterpiece that came before it.
Kathleen Kennedy reminds of all the smirking incompetent female bosses I’ve ever had. There’s a TV series on Disney+ that chronicles the behind the scenes activities and development of the TV series The Mandolorian called “Star Wars Gallery” in which she joins a round table discussion with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. The disdain Jon has for her is so obvious and so palpable it’s hilarious. He absolutely despises her. Dave on the other hand just refuses to even look at her. She looks like the clued out girl from HR. I’m certain the head of Disney can shut down her little vanity project. There’s an old saying in Hollywood “there’s only one or two ways to say yes, but there are a thousand ways to say no.” Besides, who the hell wants to work with her?
It's quite easy, just stall the project. Her contract won't be renewed and when it's done you can finally kill her vanity feminist shit project without any issues. Plenty of ways to do it.
Shes jewish. Spielberg is jewish. This happens with every "minority" group where they try to mask their nepotism by saying they "look out for eachother". I would know. Im one of them, and have seen that shit myself
@@honkhonk8009 interesting, I had no idea she was Jewish. Unfortunately, that explains a lot. I'm repulsed by racism, but it's simply a fact there's a LOT of Jews in Hollywood, and while there's nothing inherently wrong with that (any more than there being a lot of Asian doctors is), there seems to be a lot of favoritism by Jews to other Jews (Bernie Madoff is the classic example - he preyed upon that), so for every genius like Spielberg, he props up the careers of mediocre people like Kennedy and JJ Abrams, who in turn keep blatantly incompetent people like Alex Kurtzman in the business.

You remember how Scar betrayed his brother, took over his kingdom and brought in a bunch of parasitic hyenas who did nothing but consume relentlessly and turned a once prosperous kingdom into a barren wasteland? And how he didn’t really have any particular reason or vision for becoming a King other than his ego? Yeah, I’m getting the same exact same vibes here.
Interesting fact i learned from JP: The Lion King (and other corrupt Uncle stories in general) that functions just as you describe, plus the kingdom being rescued by the true heir, was part of the core mythology of the Ancient Egyptian Religion. Also the heir was conceived by the deposed queen with her dead God King husbands dead severed Phallus. That being an early pseudo prototype and predecessor for the idea of the Virgin Birth.
@@TheJeremyKentBGross 1. That has _what_ to do with what we were discussing? 2. Your attempt to connect that myth to the Virgin Birth was _incredibly_ clumsy.
She is a powerful woman indeed because who else singlehandedly was able to destroy a decade-old franchise in such a short time? Not even Palpatine's scheme was that fast.
Lucas made three flawed 'good' Star Wars movies in the early 00s and all he had to do was sit back and wait for time and Disney to have them crowned masterpieces.
The prequels were fucking fire. They were unrefined at first, but the clone wars was pure HEAT. I know alot of people thatcan easdily say with objective confidence that the Clone Wars >>> the original 70's movies.
Kathleen is exactly like Palpatine, hiding in the shadows for many years, getting higher and higher in ranks and finally when the time came she revealed herself as a true villain.
I hope the comment was directed toward dollar store Okumura. He doesn't deserve to be in politics and he doesn't deserve to run a company. He sounds super corrupt and opportunistic, he only hired that woman for being a woman and kept her, despite her incompetence.

Seeing that first picture of Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg., she looks like an innocent, fawning little fangirl. That said, I am reminded of a line from the movie "Excalibur" that goes: King Arthur - "Where hides evil then in my kingdom?" Merlin's response - "Always, where ya never expect it! Always."
@@foxfoxtrot4368 It would been, but knowing live if something like this ever happend progressive media just would use this as an " exampull of misoginy and sexisizm in STAR WARS FAN Base". Yes, it's real: Bessie Braddock: "Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk." Winston Churchill: "Bessie, my dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly." Another legendary one was against Lady Astor: Astor: "If you were my husband, I would put poison in your coffee." Churchill: "Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."
If this actually happened, I would be very pleased. I’d be fine with him reusing the same cast from the “non-canon” Disney Trilogy (of course we can’t have Carrie Fisher), and then doing his own thing. I want to see Finn’s character get the justice it deserves, as well as Snoke.

Rodd Thunderheart Did you ever watch the Jurassic Park behind the scenes clips? I remember watching the mini documentary that was included in the DVD and thought to myself, “why is this woman constantly injecting herself into the stories and accounts by the director, the writers, the cast, and the production geniuses? What exactly was her role in the making of Jurassic Park”? Why was this glorified administrative exec being interviewed for this doc? She seemed to just be reiterating what Spielberg or Stan Winston or Michael Crichton said earlier.
I'll paraphrase from the comedic work "Er ist wieder da" - "He is back" by Timur Vermes, a book about Hitler reappearing in the year 2011 due to mysterious circumstances. "There is a kind of people that thinks that absolutely nothing can be done successfully if they aren't involved. These individuals are often rather untalented and unknowledgeable about the gives subject. And when something succeeds that they have been involved in it's not due to them. These people aren't enablers of success, they are merely success-companions.(probably fellow traveller is more useful in this context)"
Filoni could save it. We only need them to take that leap of faith and trust him. He’s overall in charge of Clone Wars and that turned out to be an amazing story.
@Mumford Coast to coast I personally did partly enjoy the sequels but it just doesn't work as a trilogy at all. TFA was a copy pasta of ANH TLJ thought it would make some brave decisions but ended up all the more disappointing and I do get your point about Luke Skywalker TROS is in my opinion the worst of the three because it just was a whole bunch of nothingness... The sad thing about all of this is, in my opinion, that disney COULD make great Star Wars movies as proven in Rogue One, which is one of my all time favorite SW movies and The Mandalorian, which i really loved The problem is that the executives care more about SJW crap than telling a good story with interesting characters...
The hilarious part is the fact that Star Wars already had diversity. I guess actual strong female characters in the jedi order didnt count because they werent whiney manchildren that feminists seem to think all female characters are.
How I remember when everyone was soooooo excited when Lucas sold out to Disney. Because everyone thought that without Lucas in the picture there would be no more movies as bad as the prequel trilogy. I sensed a disturbance and tried to warn everybody but no one listened....
It's weird how people thought the prequel trilogy was bad, when in fact, it opened the door to the origins of both Obi Wan and Luke Skywalker. Not to mention shined a bit of light on how the empire was made, why the Jedi Order fell, and why the Sith rose to power. (And led to the creation of the Clone Wars series). Honestly, as a fan, I'm glad I was born in the "Lucas Era" and got to see the good parts of Star Wars. Before whatever tf Disney decided to do with it eve occurred smh
@@johnnysalery7383 people were not inherently opposed to the prequels. Everyone was exited. But it's the execution that matters. And most didn't like the prequels for their execution. Clone wars is set in the same era and people love it
@@johnnysalery7383 Most people who didn't like the prequel films still accepted the story and liked certain things about them. The sequels on the other hand were a wasted once-in-history opportunity and brought nothing to the Star Wars franchise other than ruining beloved characters.
@@screamingapple6195 The Prequel's execution was great. Revenge of the Sith is an outright masterpiece. Corny dialogue has always been part of Star Wars and Anakin Skywalker has one of the most nuanced character arcs in film history. The Clone Wars actually simplified him instead of fleshing him out because all the fleshing out went to new characters like Ahsoka, Rex and Ventress. Don't get me wrong, all 3 of those characters were great (although Ahsoka's story should have ended YEARS ago, specifically in Twilight of the Apprentice) but Anakin was just reduced to a typical hero who occasionally does something morally questionable instead of a deeply tortured man with a very complex psychology. And for the idiots who say Hayden Christiansen can't act, the man can say more with his eyes than most actors can with their entire faces. He is THE definitive Darth Vader. James Earl Jones only brought the voice. David Prowse only brought the physicality. Hayden Christiansen brought it all, even tailoring his voice to match Jones' speech patterns on top of having greater physicality than Prowse ever achieved. Hell, as terrible as the Obi-Wan Kenobi show was, at least Christiansen understood his character better than literally anybody else involved in that production. His facial acting, especially how he can use his eyes, is exemplified when he only needed to use half of his face to convey everything you need to know about Darth Vader after Obi-Wan slices part of his mask off. At the end of the day, every single mainstream "criticism" thrown at the Prequels, as well as the vast majority of the lesser known complaints, boil down to the bitching of entitled morons who deluded themselves into thinking that they know George Lucas' universe and characters better than he does. Lucas achieved exactly what he set out to achieve, so none of the complaints thrown at him were constructive and therefore they don't count as legitimate criticism. They weren't trying to help Lucas improve the story he was telling. They were trying to tell him that he should have written a different story.
Strong females characters have been around for decades , it just isn’t convenient for feminists to acknowledge them ....... it’s hard to play the victim when there isn’t one .

I just realized: the producers of these new movies were so focused on representation of people in their films that they forgot to add plenty of alien characters, which are like the most interesting aspect of Star Wars.
Bringing in new directors such as John Favreau, etc. was such a wise move. These directors have such an incredible passion for Star Wars and what it's supposed to be. It really shows in the series that they direct. The Mandalorian looks and feels like Star Wars should!
the best thing about the original starwars trilogy is that people pushed back against Lucas and he listened. It lead to some of the most powerful scenes. It's because they had diversity of character and beliefs, instead of a bunch of people that all look different but think the same.
I finally watched Rogue One for the very first time and by Golly! It does save Disney-fied Star Wars from total wokish disaster. It's even a pretty good movie, not only a "passable " effort. I loved its gritty, rough-edged look which conveys the proper image of a rebellion conducted from the bottom up. The heroine is not a ridiculous, bland, totally personality-devoid, Mary Sue goddess impossibly perfect, infinitely potent, who can't cross any ark because nothing, infinitely safe or extremely dangerous situations change anything for her since nothing affects her in any way. Rey is a new archetype in fiction works: a singularity in the universe enacted by a creature with the features of a young, asexual mouth-breathing woman to which nothing of any consequence ever happens, a perfect Teflon-coated chick whose raison d'être, I guess, was, so naively, to create a feminine role model for young Disneyfied teenage girls of the 21st century. Big mistake, of course, since centuries of literature have shown that God-like figures don't make relevant models. What's the point of such perfect, drab, unreachably perfect figures if nobody could dream of even attaining a meager quantum of their qualities? By trying to tell young women in development: look at Rey Palpatine! Her Emperor genes, crossed with err, some woman who might have had counterbalancing "good deed genes" (!!) have made of her a Goddess: as infinitely potent as Jupiter, as infinitely benevolent as Jesus, as sexy as an empty Bordeaux bottle,. Why don't you try emulating her? In the land of the American dream, where, of course, hard work and good ethics can make you become as rich as Bezos or Musk! No tricks, no twist: it's all in you. Everyone can access the force! Just look at Rey Palpatine,! Enough BS and back to Rogue One. I was pleased, at last to see that Disney could make proper f***ing and procreate something worthwhile, something reasonably solid to make it cinematographic and reasonably uncringy. The droid's humor was mature and intelligent, the main protagonists believable, relatable and human, and the depiction of the Resistance on the ground, in the midst of the Empire on the rise on a scale that is massive but not ridiculous and incomprehensible as that seen in the sequel trilogy (especially the Rise of Mary Sue-Palpatine , err, sorry the Rise of Skywalker. In any case, I had pretty good, authentic SW vibes while watching Rogue One. And, most importantly, I didn't feel my stomach burn with too many "They fly now?" "Yep. They fly, now!" réparties. Overall, an honest, solid episode that is more canon than any of the dreadful sequel trilogy so. 7 through 9.
I remember seeing the force is female shirts promotion she was doing at the announcements of filming the 7th episode and knew it was going to be a train wreck
I can't believe that the controversy in Lucasfilms have more compelling stories to tell than the new Star Wars trilogy. Writers can use this as an inspiration for their rich people soap opera that every Aunts wanted.
problem with this idea is, the comedy central roasts are meant in good humor, but what Kathleen Kennedy has done to Star Wars has only earned her extreme and true hatred. it would not be done as good, light kidding, fun.

Bro this was the prophecy. The prophecy of The Chosen Retarded One who came and made something so shit that people who used to hate the prequels now hold them in high regard.
This is why Disney is pouring all assets on the mandelorian, not only is it a huge success to fans alike but it also causes Kennedy to stay in the background where she belongs.

When I imagine what it must be like for the people who work with Kennedy and still run with her ideas, I can only think of that popular line from yearly company evaluations: “It seems her employees will follow her everywhere, but only out of morbid curiosity.”
yep That is exactly how I feel too. I used to love everything star wars. There was something special and magical about it (even the prequels). Then KK took all that magic and all that special-ness put it in a pot brought it to a boiling point then proceeded to take a big steamy sh*t all over it. The magic would have been seeing all of the OG together again. This will never happen now. Like MASH said "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen". We always have the memories until we die. She basically just desperetaly want to "make a difference" probably not because she cares all that much about more female representation (Not that this is an actual problem nowadays anyway) But because she wants to be recoginzed and remembered as a figurehead for feminism and 'social justice. Wow. That was so insightful, empathetic, and brutal! But wait, are you saying that Rey was the "lead character" in TFA? That never occurred to me, I just kept waiting for heroes to appear but they never did, so I concluded it was basically a film about nothing. So they made a villain the "lead character" in a Star Wars film, that is pretty outrageous.
I never thought a Star Wars movie would ever make me look back at JarJar Banks and say, “Eh, he wasn’t the worst thing in the Star Wars universe.” The Last Jedi had me missing old Jar Jar. How far we have fallen...
I would rather watch "The Misadventures of Jar Jar Binks" than the new Star Wars movies. The only decent one is Rogue One, and that is about on par with TPM.
At least Jar jar was never revealed to have a romantic relationship with Obi-wan, and he never started moaning about how oppressed gungans were. And at least the actor actually was a fan of Star Wars and didn't "not know what a gungan was". God I hated L3-37..
@@davidedgar5923 I hate theorizing like that. It's one thing to theorize about future plot developments, but Star Wars youtubers are scraping the bottom of the barrel with that kind of shit.
