The Kati cake (Cati or Katy) is very well known in Transylvania, being prepared according to a Hungarian recipe (Kati tészta). It has 2 tender sheets of shortcrust filled with a generous layer of cocoa cream with butter, rum and crumbled sheet, it is decorated with meringue and grated chocolate shavings. In the olden days, raw egg whites were used for mousse, but now we offer you the Swiss meringue version, beaten on a steam bath.
Kati is a homemade traybake cake that can be found on dessert platters for Christmas, Easter, weddings, baptisms or other events. If we use quality ingredients (butter, real rum, good cocoa, etc.) then the result will be just right!
