I know music is subjective but I agree, I find ALL her biggest hits quite annoying. Maybe a 2/10 quality wise. Not something I seek out to listen to in my free time.
I hate how she uses the word 'sexy', that is a word for men and it objectifies. Women's power isnt about being sexy or and object its about honouring God with how she looks after her body.

@maybelle4832 if that song is telling women to be impure, promiscuous and to sell their bodies like most music does then it's blasphemous. It's a shame too because Katy is so beautiful. She could easily wear clothes and have a beautiful Face. Not many ppl have such beauty. But the worldly woman finds value in her sexuality as Proverbs warns us.

I checked it out, and was thinking maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but it was really a bad song, especially the lyrics. And the music is not impressive enough to make up for the horrible corny lyrics, And also the visuals from the official video look so trashy on many levels
With all due respect, I highly doubt it. He married Yoko Ono and gave her a mic so she could "sing" alongside him, and most of her own "lyrics" consisted of screaming, "aaahhhhhh....". So....idk....
It is beyond me that Russell Brand was once married to Katy Perry. After their divorce, his leaving this hedonistic lifestyle ultimately pursuing a real relationship with our creator is such an amazing and inspiring life’s journey. And then I stumbled on to this empty vessel who - in her own words- “sold my soul to the devil”. Pray for Katy.
I honestly dont love the song much either, but there are a few things that made me really happy. And the lyrics arent that bad. They werent trying to rhyme thorn with one, it was a pre-chorus replay, same as the first verse, she say number one. They are replaying it to setup the chorus. The lyrics arent stupid they are just a little objective, the video was stupid ill say that but it tells women that we can be hot and pretty and strong and do everything a man can do but not for a man's eyes. Doesnt it feel nice when a female friend calls you hot are gorgeous instead of asking why you are dressed up nicely? Same energy is being given.
Another reason that music was better back in the day, "I am Woman" was an anthem for women, not just young women reveling in their sexy and sassy sex appeal.

I listen to the song more than 20 times, I like it, but I see an orchestra set up by being negative about it. And I know why the leaders of the cult club don't like divine feminine. The patriarch doesn't like that, and the influencer gets paid. She sees how the American man is portrayed, he is tough and strong, and she shows the opposite side and portrays women in this way. If it becomes too direct, of equality, then suddenly many people do not agree with it. People don't get it, or they get negative rewards to stop the feminine message. (divine veminine :) Are you just copycatting, are getting payd? I think both.

I totally get all the backlash involved wirh wanting an artist to put out something that shows growth….but I’m a male…and I can tell you….based on where I’m at in my life right now..there’s a lot going on and I’ve listened to songs that I never thought I would and they resonated with me because they triggered my emotions during this moment…point being…I’m sure this song resonated with someone. That’s the positive thing. There’s a woman somewhere feeling small…unimportant or even questioning her abilities…and I’m sure….this was a moment for someone. That’s the beautiful thing about music. So I will celebrate that. Heart❤
I hate when people mention how many song writers it took to write a song as some sort of “gotcha” song writing credits are also given for creating the harmonies and instrumentation not just the lyrics. 5 writers on a song isn’t even a lot
The tabloids are a piece of crap talking abut Katys new LP or song I think it is fine. I am sick and tired of people making Katy look bad? Even though she is 39 going 40 she still has it. ‘Comeback or not’ she is still #1 in my books.
We speak life and death with are words. The song is definitely not of God but should we continue to criticize. What is the reason for it? Is katy someone that God wants to save? Obviously she has fallen but why not pray that she finds Jesus? She was once a Christian song writer. She may come back to the faith but she would come as she is. If we continuously make fun of people, how does that encourage someone to come to Jesus. She is hurting soul that may make the decision to follow Jesus. We were once in darkness, and god didn't throw are imperfections and sins in our face. We should stand up for truth and expose darkness but how does this encourage? There are lots of bad songs we could make fun of but can't we look at it from Gods eyes. This song promotes sin please God don't let this influence others. I plead the blood of Jesus over Katy's life. Bring her to you. She is lost and needs to be found. Pray that her heart is broken and humbled. All these people who wrote it may they find salvation and use their talents to advance the kingdom. Lets build, expose without condemnation, and pray for those who don't know Jesus. Im just as guilty and i mean this gently. People are heading in the wrong direction and need prayers, and guidance and someone to walk with. Try to be a little more gentle and realize we were once in darkness. That these people writing and katy desperately need Jesus. With our tongues we can bring life or death. Lets use it to glorify God in action bringing others to Jesus.
