Thanks for the video guys. I recently purchased an old mule from a carnival that was closing down. This video helped a lot. The mule had some other wiring problems but once I sorted that out I removed the carb and cleaned it. It is actually running now!! Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the excellent video. My father gave me his 2001 Mule 550. It’s sat in a barn for at least 3 years and would not start. I have zero experience with small engines but was able to check spark and fuel all the way to the clogged carb. I was not able to get the main jet out of the carb since the slot had been stripped away. So i used wire and carb cleaner. Once I reinstalled the carb, it started pulling gas in and fired right up!! Your video was perfectly what I needed.

@@2guyshow2thefishkingz89 My one main issue now is the hand brake arm will come up and stop the ride but the ratchet wont hold it locked, you cant even hear it ratcheting to lock and the spring on the button wont work its stuck

Thanks for this Video. It is excellent and you guys are something. I have a problem mayb you can elp me find resources or a manual on this baby. I bought a 2015 MULE PRO FXT SIDE BY SIDE. MODEL KAF820DFF. It has been a champ Last month I was usng it on the homestead and I backed it up an stopped and loaded up the bed. I hit the starter and it turned over but will not start. I took the fuel line off at the fuel pump and turned it over and NO Fuel at all Tank is full. I am only getting about 3 volts to the top of the plug to the intank fuel pump. Pump reads continunity with an ohm meter. I heard that it has a VEHICLE DOWN SENSOR I cannot find it to check it out it is a roll over protection device to kill it incase of a roll over. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 1200 MILES ON IT. I am retired and cannot work on this fancy stuff. I am fr the 60s and 70s where they built real equipment. I am an electrician by trade. I am in Birmingham alabama. Thanks for any help I am Don, the Grands call me Poppin.
Thanks, for watching...make sure the ground wire to pump is good..If that fuel pump works on just 12volt current, with no vacuum..I would check the pump for failure. Can you hook up some jumper wires to it..from the battery...make sure the ground is good and positive wire is good..test light each wire..with key on, etc. You can remove the pump and test it with a 12 volt battery and bucket of water..it should pump. If it doesn't pump..then that shows you it's bad...replace it. We had one that would start and when pump got hot..it would shut off...ordered a new pump..good to go. Keith 2guys how2
Electric fuel pump would be same diagnose...disconnect the fuel line from carburetor...place fuel line in an empty water bottle and turn key...it should pump gas..or pump gas and shut off after it primes the system. Those fuel pumps are cheap to buy new....best to replace if it pumps a weak flow. The ethanol in gas really hurts the older pumps. Hope this helps ! Keith 2guys how2
Hey i know this is an old video hope you can help. At 36:59 those 2 mini jets, you show putting in with a little flat blade neither of the 2 carbs i have any screw slot. I cant get those out. I saw one guy in another video tap the carb and one came out but tried that also and it did not work. I bought a new carb and it does run now but idles up and down bad. I thought maybe the new carb was not right since it was cheap.
Those little jets might be pressed in. I would try to spray clean them and clean with thin wire..spray high pressure air through them, make sure the rest of the carburetor is clean as well....and try the original carburetor, again. Check all ports and any tiny holes that could be clogged. Keith 2guys how2
The blac/white wire is the ground wire to the coil. It goes to the ignition switch..to ground out and shut it off. If you disconnect this wire it will eliminate the key switch or wires from having issues or a problem, from no start.
My 2004 3010 is giving me problems. No fuel moving through fuel line to pump. Just changed pump, relay, filter, fuel lines, and nothing. Killed battery while trouble shooting. Hoping to figure this out before I have to buy a battery and still have a dead mule
Check inside the tank, try to see the pick up tube...make sure it's not rusted off, if its metal. Dissconect fuel line from pum to tank and blow air back through the line into tank to be sure it's not clogged. If there is no restriction and pick up tube in tank is good..then check the vacuum line to pump...most pumps run on vacuum from engine crank case...the vacuum lines can have cracks or breaks..results in low or no vacuum.. unless it has an electric fuel pump..then it will prime and pump the gas itself. Make sure your fuel lines are installed correctly..and not backwards on pump or vacuum line. Don't burn your starter motor up, by cranking it too long. Just be patient and wait between starts..let the starter cool down. You can slow charge your battery with a 2 amp slow charger overnight...and then keep testing the unit..I'm sure you can fix it, yourself. Check those areas on the machine and let me know. The pressure is not much..it is made from vacuum created by the motor..when the motor turns over it creates vacuum for the fuel pump to operate. Fuel pumps are cheap enough to replace and install new vacuum line to ensure proper vacuum to pump. Keith 2guys how2
Great video. I’ve got a 2004 mule 3010 that will not start. I’ve replaced rusty fuel tank, new fuel filter and new electric fuel pump, new carburetor, new spark plugs, new battery. Crank crank crank will not start. I’m trying to get this old thing running for my elderly dad. I’m pulling my hair out. Any suggestions? I do get spark. I disconnected fuel line at carburetor. Getting fuel. Thanks.
I would check for spark. Take out the spark plug, plug it back into the plug wire boot. Hold the plug close, almost touching a clean bolt on the engine block, near by, where the plug wire can reach to. Hold it there and try to start the motor..you should see spark..if not then it's a spark issue. Clean the flywheel..magneto..and coil pad, as well as clean the motor and coil, where the coil mounts to the motor..you need a good ground connection and clean wire that connects to the coil. Test for spark first..then start all the cleaning and see if it gets spark. Use dielectric grease on motor where coil bolts to and grease the small wire connection to coil. Keep the magneto clean and dry, no grease. Most times it's a dirty magneto..on flywheel...you will see it on there, clean with memory cloth, clean with electrical cleaner spray and regap the coil if you take it off. Those always rust from sitting for long time, especially sitting outside. Keith 2guys how2
@@skinnystrad4241 Bad, cheap gas will wet the plug too much to start it as well..try a quick blast of starting fluid down in the cylinder..leave the plug out for a little bit and let it air out..if water is in the gas..the dried out cylinder, drip some fresh gas or starting fluid in spark plug hole...it should fire it off.
I have a 2010 kawasaki mule 610 XC that doesnt start sometimes but clicks. replaced the starter and solenoid and did not fix the problem and suggestions??
I would check the battery connections and make sure the battery has good cold cranking amps....make sure connections are clean and use dielectric grease on all connections. Make sure your battery ground to frame is clean..wirebush connections and grease with dielectric grease as well. Check the starter to selinoid wires and clean...grease. Clean connections to key switch, too. Most likely the main battery connections are loose or dirty. Let me know how it goes. Keith 2guys how2

@@production1037 If you can trickle charge the battery and have your local auto store do a load test on it. That will let you know if it 100% good. Most times it's a dirty connection, somewhere...easy fix, but, it needs a good connection to start.. Yesterday, I had a mower key switch that had loose connection and mower would cut out or not start. Cleaned connection, greases, tightened it up and works as should.
I have a 90s kawasaki mule kaf620a it's getting fire and gas turns over but will not crank has compression I've replace regulator gas lines filter cleaned tank all new plugs all new parts still won't crank
When you say crank...you mean start and fire off ? If it has spark at plug...good strong spark..and good fresh gas or pour a little gas in the spark plug cylinder hole and install spark plug and wire..if it has good spark it will run. If the spark is weak or plug is old and tired..bad gas or weak gas..the weak gas can saturate the plug and cause it not to start. I would take out the plug..dry out the cylinder by cranking motor over a few times..let it sit and repeat 5 times...don't over heat the starter..take your time. Install plug in plug boot and hold it to the metal motor bolt..try to start the motor and see if you have good spark. If you have good spark and a little gas poured into cylinder..install plug and try to start..if it starts..then it's a fuel issue or the vacuum line that connects to fuel pump might have a leak. Suck out old gas and check crank case vacuum line. Make sure you carburetor is clean, too. Let me know, what you find. Keith 2guys how2 Suck the
The. Vacuum line goes from the top of the motor crank case...lift up the. Ed and you will see it and it goes to the fuel pump...that crank case vacuum move the diaphragm inside the fuel pump to pump fuel to carburetor. Keith 2guys how2
@@ryanadams7440 Its been a while since I've worked on one of those..without the vacuum diagram..I think the other hose goes to the air filter box or the side of the carburetor...that keeps the vacuum flow constant, in the same direction.
Can you see the other end of wires and just add jumper wire, solder or crimp connection the missing piece of wire? You can use a test light to see if it is hot when trying to start unit..or if it is a ground wire, while trying to start unit. Clip the test light to motor bolt or negative side of battery and touch tip of test probe to burnt wire, copper strands...while starting the unit..if it lights its hot... reverse for checking for a ground.
