Many people, like myself, don't really know what's the purpose of valve clearance check, or the function of some of the stuff on our bikes, so he's making us aware and understand why we need to have these things checked and done.. Not a gimmick for mechanics to make money.

Some of the official service centres don't allow customers to be in the work area (wait at customer lounge instead), I think it's totally crap concept. Yes some customer don't really care what's being done to their vehicle and just want to chill out while waiting, but some of us want to see what's being done. Thanks for viewing!

Considering all the parts and labor on the bike, I think it was reasonable. I'm not saying MYR 2000 is nothing to me, but if you want to play with big boy toys, be ready to pay to play. :)

I removed the air box/baffle at the bottom, but there's another cat within the headers which I did not remove. The model is Graves Hexagonal Slip-On Exhaust .

This is actually considered a toned down mileage, if I were to really ride it as much as I could the mileage will be much, much, higher.

If you just install a slip-on exhaust and not a full system, it is still OK, but if you install a full system, generally it is better to get a dyno and tune up done. To know if your bike needs a tune, you can always get a dyno run for the bike and see your current engine health.

All the oils I've tried with seem to be fine, didn't have any issues. Currently on Liqui Moly and since my friend who races also uses the Liqui Moly has no issues, I'm happy to stick with Liqui Moly.

The Yoshi was a loaner exhaust, wasn't my own, I just installed it while waiting for my own exhaust to arrive.

Fahzan Aziz yep, I've thinking about that too. But most of the time I ride my bike just to go to work. So I've been thinking to downgrade my bike. If only I manage to sell my bike.

I don't think it's a good move to downgrade, especially to a Z125 Pro from your Z250. - You do save a bit on maintenance cost, but not by very much. - Parts like tires are not that easy to source, and good ones are costly. - The power of the Z125 is very much lesser than the Z250. - Your commute to work will be slower, and you might not have the power to overtake cars. - You lose money when selling the Z250, and the Z125 is quite pricey. - You can consider other scooters or kapchai, cost less and more storage room. - With more practice you can still easily manage a 250 for the KL streets, it's not that big or heavy. - In future you can always plan some long distance rides won't have any issue.

It's not bad for the engine, it just doesn't have a long life. It's designed for race/performance so it wears out sooner. Need to change more frequently. If the owner has a lot of money for frequent oil change, can use it.

There's nothing wrong, just getting usual scheduled maintenance done to the bike to keep it running good.

You want to know where to find used ZX6R? I'm not really sure, you can try searching on Mudah, or Malaysian Superbike Exchange group on Facebook, or at bike shops.

This is for checking valve clearance only, if want to change valves, need to do top overhaul if not mistaken, and the cost will be different.. If the valves are fine there's no need to change them all.

The Ninja? 600cc. Under MYR 10k, for big bike? I don't think have. Under MYR 20k maybe have some option for 250cc or old ER6N, you can try survey on Mudah.my to see what's available.

Labour is generally cheaper here in Malaysia, but 2000 ringgit is still a lot to us.

I'd say we're lucky labor is still not crazy expensive here. MYR 2000 is not a small amount here (could be 2/3 of someone's monthly salary) but for the work and parts I feel it was reasonable. Move to Malaysia, anything can be settled by "donation" (read: bribe). LoL.

Kalau tempat magnet coil biasanya tak ada oil seal.. Boleh cuba tanya mekanik sebab saya bukan mekanik.. Tanya 66SpeedBike ataupun Blueprintgarage tengok macam mana.

Yes, it is a must, unless you don't mind having chance of destroying your engine. 40k km is not the manufacturer recommended time to check, it is based on my own preference. If you ride your bike hard all the way it's better to check your values sooner than later. Maybe 25 - 30k km intervals.

It all depends on when you decide to do what. It's not the law to do it at 40k km like what I did, 40k was my personal preference to get all those things done. If not should follow the manufacturer recommended mileage per your user manual.

TheSighBored I see.. mine is z800.. most of my friends said that 40k need to do major servicing including valve clearance.. is it anything said in the manual? Currently I'm also planning of calling welly bt cave - where I bought it - to see what their recommend.

You can download your bike user / service manual on the Internet and see for yourself. If not mistaken manufacturer recommended is earlier than 40k, but it depends on yourself and how to ride/take care of your bike, can be done a bit later or not. Workshop will usually say 30-35k that's my guess.

Is it going to be your first bike? If you can control yourself and not ride beyond your limit while you are learning the skills to ride, probably the ZX-10R. Otherwise maybe something smaller first.

Wow, why was it MYR 2k, just for valve clearance for along with another work done. What matters is that the bike is all good after the work.

The road was bumpy.. And yes stiffer fork result in more bumpy feel.
