Kawasaki's Hydrogen and Electric Motorcycles are on the way, but are WE ready for them?
G'day I'm Kwackajack and welcome to another video! Today we take a look at the up and coming next-gen motorcycles from Kawasaki that we know for certain are incoming in the near future. They have been very open and honest about the fact that they are aiming for a green and hybrid future when it comes to motorcycles.
So let me know down in the comments whether or not it's something YOU would buy!

I just hope that while Kawasaki innovates with it's alternative fuel projects, it does not forget about it's petrol bikes. Hoping that petrol bikes still get enough support and advancements along side electric and hybrid bikes in the future.

When LPG first came out it was supposed to of being the way forward. That soon fizzled out. If manufacturers are going to go down the route of Hydrogen, I think they should put money into the infrastructure first. Afterall, it's no good having a bike/car that runs on Hydrogen if you have nowhere to fill up. I can't see those cannister types catching on as where do you buy them from? Will they be freely available or will it be just a handful of places that sell them? If that's the case, they then have a captive market & can charge what ever they want. As I'm sure those cannisters will only fit a certain manufacturers bike.

I've demoed a Zero Motorcycle and they do have a market for more conscious riders. It's a zen feeling, it's relaxing, friendly, safe and easier ride. You're definitely more aware with the no sound and the absence of the thrilling revs.

It's scary thinking about what would happen if a hydrogen bike gets dropped. What Kawasaki should do now and not tomorrow is update the small and middle range bikes. The ninja 400 could use an upgrade not to mention the 650 which is way down in the competition.

Years ago before I retired from heavy haul trucking delivering to a Minnesota refinery they were doubling the size of their hydrogen production. They said it might be big some day. KHI only builds motorcycles because a board member liked them! Yes to different types fueled bikes. Electric bikes are slow and no sellers where I live. Low numbers predicted on cars so far. Peace.

Id consider a hydrogen bike if it came with a home hydrogen generator that compressed and stored the fuel for me to hook up and refill. I wouldn't do the swapable proprietary tank design ever. Same with electric i dont want it. Its slow heavy and too long to recharge. I hope these technologies improve but they arent ready yet.

Hydrogen on demand is the ticket, just fill with plain water. Far-fetched, has been done in the past on lawn mowers.

Looking good, without the bunny. You should upgrade to a z650. No hydrogen, the infrastructure isn't in place.

Although I am keen for a moderate electric that can maintain 100 KPH for an hour as a work commuter, I think Hydrogen will be the most popular iteration of the motorbike moving forward. The vibration of the engine, the note from the exhaust, the ability to just fill up and go. You don't want to look at a map for a twisty road and have to give it up because you need to stop at the bottom for an hour to recharge. When you open it up, you don't want to worry about how much distance you just lost on your ride. The future of sports cars and motorbikes are mostly hydrogen. You don't get into them by calculating the negatives to the fun factor.
@ukmitch86
@ukmitch86 Год назад
No noise I'm afraid. hydrogen isn't used for combustion. It's used as an electrolyte for a Solid State Fuel Cell (membrane) which generates electron flow to drive electric motors.

Hydrogen works the same way as petrol. A combustion engine can perfectly work on Hydrogen, granted as the lightest element it is indeed very explosive, everyone is still going with Hydrogen fuel cells; I would like to see Hydrogen on demand (water turned into Hydrogen).

The motorcycle’s today are great , but have exceeded the price a LOT of people cannot pay. Maybe a single guy with few obligations can swing the purchase price, but anybody with a family find this as a no-can-do proposition. This is a secondary concern when faced with car payments, braces, travel sports, groceries and gas, but COULD be doable if the damn things weren’t so freaking high! A putt putt is $8000, a fun runabout is 12k and a sport bike with some balls is $15 and up. That’s a used car for son or daughter. COVID’s non-ending repercussions have sucked the life out of ANYTHING fun, and our society, companies and distributors have all jumped on the bandwagon to further drive the spike in !! When is enough ENOUGH??!!

While electric and ulternative fuels will be the future, as a society we still need to look at how we aquire the resources, it's not greener if the mining for it happens out of sight. From a personal standpoint the minerals being mined from the congo for electric devices should be seen as a crime against humanity... But in saying that I don't have any idea of a.better way to do it🤷

Well, here's my view, I wouldn't want a full electric, 1, there temporary, batteries will not last and are on the long run more dangerous to the environment, they domt have enough charging points, yet you need oil for the electric??? 2, Hydrogen.. Hell yeah. I would have one of them, also bio fuel maybe an option, hydrogus excellent for the environment, cheap and they go a lot further than petrol and they go like a rocket, great exceleration too.

In general, I like EV bikes and its the way its going......it will take a while though and many issues need to be resolved with them. I've ridden a friends Zero S a bit and its was surprisingly decent around urban areas (Brisbane). The immediate and powerful Torque is addictive. No clutch is as well. The range was crap on the highway as expected. It was fine for 3 years then had issues with the Battery and then the Controller. With Zero having left Australia it took the owner 18 months to get it sorted and even then it was exy. So for me, until a manufactuer can guarantee a decent range, quick refueling, reliability and local support, then ICE is the way. EV's have a lot of Pro's though No more oil and filter changes, timing chain / valve adjustment checks, coolant, spark plug etc.
