Another windy day on the wild West Coast of Vancouver Island leads to some challenging fishing conditions, to rough for Salmon fishing, so we decide to target some groundfish, which did not disappoint! A fantastic day out on the water until we discover an unwanted and unwelcome surprise waiting for us back at the beach...

Woof - that chop looked wicked! Normally swells have a pattern, but that sea was just messy! Are you guys wearing dry suits? Can't tell from the video.

Ya, it was a pretty sloppy day, it's been pretty windy in our area all season, gotta really pay attention when we're dealing with the swells plus the wind waves. No drysuits on that day, we know that the oceans cold but it's way to hot in the middle of summer for drysuits. Now that we're getting into fall, the drysuits will be coming out with us.

😂 apparently not! Next time, we'll be sure to get a business license for our "business." Sure wish I knew what the business is and how much it brings in a year! 😂😂😂

Apparently there was a complaint made that we were taking groups of 8 kayakers out and running fishing charters, we were planning on explaining it in the next video 😂 I already had this video done though so we just put it up, but the town took the ticket back.

@@kckayakfishing was the complaint made by a competing charter business? I found ukee and tofino overly regulated and fake. Lots of beautiful places on the island I'd rather go and spend my time and money

@mikeandroi2698 we can't say for sure who made the complaint, bylaw wouldn't tell us, we can see how they would get confused because our trailer has our logo all over it, still crazy though to ticket us without confirming and just taking someone's word for it. We're flattered though that they think there is potential for us to run a charter there 😂😂😂

Ya once we told them we weren't a buisness, basically what happened was someone complained about us running charters from the beach even though it was just us two out there, instead of figuring out if we were a buisness or not they just slapped us with a fine. Good thing we didn't have to pay it because the fine was triple what a buisness license costs! 😂😂😂

Soooo good! We actually prefer bottom fish over Salmon, easy to cook, and can be used in a bunch of different recipes!

Someone had called and complained to the bylaw office that we were running charters from the beach, instead of actually confirming if we were they just slapped us with a fine for no business license which is insane, but after we explained that we're not a business thankfully they removed the fine on us.

I wish we were making money from the channel, maybe one day 😂 basically what happened is a local was upset that we had our trailer parked at the beach parking lot, (which is totally legal, there are no signs that say no trailers allowed) they decided to call the town and tell them we were running charters with groups of 8 kayakers, which is crazy because we can't even fit 8 kayaks in our trailer, rather than actually confirming if we were doing charters bylaw decided to take the locals word for it and slap us with a fine, which is insane. After a couple of phone calls, and going into the town office refusing to pay, they took the ticket back and we didn't have to pay the fine. As for our RU-vid channel, if one day we start making money, we'll have to look into licensing, might get expensive if we need a license for every town and area that we film in. Sure is a different feeling great lake kayak fishingman here did the boat thing for 12 years brought a kayak to go on a back country fishing trip was hooked. Sold boat got a actual fishing kayak never looked back catching salmon and trout from the kayak is something special

So anyone with a youtube channel that isn't monetized needs a business license with every city they film in? 🤔 I have no idea, but it's probably something we should look into and find out for sure if we do start making money from our channel
