As she described being hit and abused by Adam, I couldn’t help but think, “how do you think Harmony felt when she was being beaten in her final moments??” This is one of the most horrific cases I’ve ever heard of. It’s truly incomprehensible. Everyone failed Harmony including the judge that allowed Adam to regain custody of her. He should also be held accountable. If social services were fully funded/staffed, children would stop falling through the cracks. Unfortunately peoples contempt for the poor and mentally disturbed takes priority over their proclaimed desire to help children like Harmony. The same people villifying the system consistently oppose simple measures that would help these children.
Let's not forget the social workers that just don't care. Or the one that took custody of a child and then killed her. I hate when people say mind your own business when we see someone, especially a child being abused. Report it right away. This has to stop.

I tried to force myself into the mind of this woman to imagine how it works. A person who's life is just a cacaphony of constant bad choices, one after another, none more horrific than her being more or less an observant, irresponsible bystander as her husband beat the life out of an innocent, helpless 5 year old child and went on to conceal and defile her dead body for weeks. And I just can't wrap my head around it other than the simple and maybe accurate explanation that ongoing drug addiction to heroin and crack can permanently damage the mind until people are no more than empty shells incapable of feeling anything other than the anxiety around where they will get their next fix. They make babies when they're high but they end up being an inconvenience other than the money they can claim for them from the state. I have had my dog sitting at my feet for a few hours today as I was watching the extended trial and I would unconsciously lean over and pet him from time to time. That dog has experienced more love in those few hours than little Harmony Montgomery did in the entirity of her very short life 😥

U might be confused with heroin and fentanyl which are illegal substances methadone is a legal substance given by medical proffessional a to help people stay off opioids
And methadone is usually very long term people are usually on it for years and she stated she went into jail on methadone so usually they continue to give it to u if u go in on the methadone . just by her demeanor I can tell she’s on methadone not saying her previous drug use didn’t affect her badly as well -however methadone has side effects u become very groggy when sitting for long periods of time I could tell the longer the court questioning went on she got more and more “drowsy and looking drugged out” methadone can make u very tired I really don’t no how she made it that long on the stand honestly
The state's attorney is really organized and well-spoken. His questions are clear and straightforward. No drama, no fluff. He did a good job of laying out the chronology of events for the jury.
You realize they have probably communicated to the point where it's a script now. He probably told her when to cry or act a certain way at specific times of his questioning. Are you new to court hearings. She's his star witness.

Her deal isn’t crazy uncommon. Unfortunately the truth is they needed her cooperation to nail the guy. We know what they did but proving it in court is completely different. She could always play the same card that’s she playing now. Aka she was afraid of the guy and did as she was told. Not to mention blaming drugs and basically repeatedly shifting blame to the guy. I highly doubt they would be able to get a murder conviction. It’s fairly common to make a deal with an accomplice to secure the conviction of the number 1 target. Sometimes you gotta make a deal with the devil.

Yes. I’ve also notice, through her entire testimony, she sometimes responds to questions with “we” and the prosecutor asks her for clarification and she says “Adam”. She describes what he was doing, and they ask did you see that and she says “no”… how can she describe it if she wasn’t present? Cross is going to be full on. They will tear her apart.

The system is at fault. Although the biological mom lost custody of her daughter to Adam due to drug use, the lack of checkups on Harmony’s well being by the state caused this too. Of course ill intentioned people, but still, lack of school attendance, lack of social worker checkups, biological mom should sue the state
CPS’s involvement/ authority limited when child is placed with the “non-offending” parent. Mom was the offending parent in the removal. Child Advocates can make all the difference. Local CASA (child advocacy organizations) are always looking for volunteer advocates and others to support.
If people would stop hating the poor and mentally diseased long enough to vote for fully funding social services, kids like Harmony would stop falling through the cracks with such regularity.
Idk I believe his final blows are what killed harmony. Even if Kayla didn’t beat Harmony, she allowed it by not fleeing or finding help. I’ve been abused and I had a thousand opportunities to leave but the first time my child witnessed it, I was gone and never looked back. I know the fear of a battered wife, I was battered and left for dead but I was very much alive when I woke up to police and paramedics around me the very first fear was where were my two children? He had left them downstairs away from my battered body thank goodness. I had a restraining order, I had left and hidden but not well enough. The fear of something happening to my children made me strong enough to sign a complaint and testify against him. How could Kayla watch him destroy Harmony and not think she and her children would be next.

I don’t think she’s under the influence like everyone seems to be suggesting. I think she is acting that way, head down, voice low, lack of emotion, to play the part of a battered woman for sympathy. She witnessed Adam beat his five year old daughter to death and still ate afterward with her lifeless body right behind her. She got pregnant in the bed beneath the vent where her stepdaughter’s body was rotting. She cut the soiled clothes molded to Harmony’s disfigured corpse. She had discussion after discussion with her husband over how to get rid of the child’s remains and went on with her own life for years. She is also a monster.

I have a tremendous amount of Respect for this Prosecutor! His patience, and being respectful towards her shows his professionalism despite knowing he despised both of them. Can’t imagine the anguish this case created in his life. I can only imagine the discussions he had at home, in the evenings, with his wife. How law enforcement and prosecutors don’t have PTSD is interesting.
Prosecutors and LE do get traumatized by cases like this. The self harm rate among LE officers is very high. Most don’t go home and tell their spouse the details of their day, to protect them.

Perhaps this was all so traumatic, she disassociated from it and compartmentalized the entire experience? But the abuse by Adam wasn’t so traumatic to the point where she needs to suppress her feelings. This could explain why she can cry over her own abuse but zones out when discussing Harmony?
The way she says "i was scared" gives me bloodpreshur af. HOW she wasnt scared to live such a cruel life and traumatizing the other 2 childern of her own. How she wasnt scared to carry a childs dead body in her stroler. HOW she sleep and let her two other childern sleep under a deadbody in the sealing!!!!! Guuuuyyyyyys this makes me sooooooooo crazy, angry and sad!!!!!!!!!!! Harmony, little love you deserve peace and freedom i hope you can finally find it 😢. My heart is broken.
