Johnathan Poole I agree on Chavez and Tejada especially, but you also have to remember that the Yankees were LOADED back then. They were coming off 3 titles in 4 years, and now they were signing Giambi, and Boston got Damon. So they lost their best hitter, their leadoff man, and their closer all in one off season, that's tough to bounce back from, even WITH that great rotation you mentioned and Tejada & Chavez. Ultimately, it was meant to overdramatize the 'Moneyball' theory (that's what Hollywood does, it overdramatizes real life events to make them more entertaining). However, I do think that the movie did a very good job in explaining the basic idea behind Bill James' theory, and also how to utilize it from a scouting standpoint. In that regard, the film was very effective IMO.

There are things that Baseball, as a sport, can do, that no other sport will ever come close to doing. Moments like this walk-off homer, are one of those moments. Football, as exciting and competitive as it is, does not have moments that thrust pure joy into your heart and soul. Moments, well, if I am being honest, can make any person literally cry. We can always remember where we were when our team squeaked-out a win, or better yet, made that miracle moment happen! I can only speak for myself, but some of the best moments I've ever spent with my family, my son, were at the ballpark. Man, I love this game!

Up there with the 1980 US hockey team(I’m Canadian and even we love that story man), or even Canada winning that gold medal game on our ice versus are biggest rivals in 2010. Just so much redemption in this Oakland A’s story. Billy proving his worth at the helm of a major league ball club, Hattenberg coming thru in a season where he literally had learn how to play the game again. The saddest part of the movie is "crowd reaction" out weights, the live reaction. Oak doesn't deserve a team as anywhere else would've been goosebumps.

It’s moments like that where you actually feel alive. As a fan, as that player as the coach that made the choice to pitch hit and as a GM that knew. It’s those moments. Everyone get a ESPN moment in there life. That’s what fuels ya!

I remember watching the Redsox game on NESN when this happened. They played some highlights, letting all the sox fans know. Hatteberg was previously our backup catcher and it was so nice to see him make history with the As.

This was an amazing season in baseball. As an Angel fan I remember watching the A's accomplish this amazing winning streak and the whole time they did the this, the A's only gained two games on the Angel's. The Angel's went 18-2 while the A's won 20 straight games and nobody talks about what the Angels did. Oh well, they got the Championship that year.

I'm a Diehard Red Sox fan and Huntsville Stars fan. So that was awesome when a former red sox player Hatte won it for the Stars affiliate. There was a ton of greats that came through the Huntsville Stars n went onto the A's. Love it!

Throughout my life, Baseball never caught my eye in the slightest. A few months ago I began to investigate the world of sports betting and the largest number of picks that were sent to me were from MLB. On one occasion I gave myself the opportunity to bet on selections and watch those games. It never crossed my mind how tense, calculating, ruthless, and subtly exciting baseball could be. In less than what you can imagine, I was beginning to become obsessed with the sport... However, not being an American and not having that sense of belonging to x or y team, it was difficult for me to choose a preferred team to support. The Moneyball film convinced me to support the Athletics; It is such an inspiring story that it surpasses all sports fiction!

GREAT moment!! Excellent movie, too... The only curious, incongruous part is when Billy (Brad) afterwards says -- VERY depressingly to Pete -- "What's the point?" The point??!! To quote another movie, "Lighten up, Francis!!"

Matt Crider I may not be right, but by my looks it seems to be a sinker tailing away from Hatteberg, and into the outside part of the zone. I would estimate it was between the middle and outside part of the plate when Hatteberg hit it. Hardly a meatball by my angle.
