Meet GeoTracker - the first 3D object tracker for After Effects. Now officially released!
With GeoTracker you can:
- Load and track custom 3D models
- Track 4 built-in 3D primitives: cube, cylinder, plane and sphere
- Export tracked objects as 3D and 2D Null layers (for linking to other layers or passing through to Element 3D, Cinema 4D, particle generators, etc.)
- Estimate camera focal length when camera parameters are unknown
- Track footages with reflections and occlusions
- Exclude problematic areas from tracking with 2D masks
Since the first release in September 2022, we’ve published 5 beta versions to improve stability and even added support for the latest AE 23.2 Beta which, by the way, now has a proper built-in 3D space and works with 3D objects natively.
Now that GeoTracker is released officially, it becomes a paid tool with a registration-free 15-day trial.

@@AaliDGr8 No, it's genuinely one of my favorite trackers I've ever used, very easy to learn. Problem is people expecting it to also make photoreal effects and sims when that's not what it does. It simply tracks 3D objects, the modeling and texturing and lighting is still on the artist

This looks awesome! What's the difference between this vs. Mocha Pro?

Hey! With GeoTracker, you can get a 3D position of a moving object and parent your layers to it. In contrast, a planar tracker like Mocha gives you a plane (which is so-called 2.5D), and it's applicable for flat surfaces.

@@keentools Thanks! So would that mean that GeoTracker would be better/more useful in all situations over Mocha? Or are there situations where Mocha's planar-tracker would be better? Not sure I'm understanding fully, so I thought maybe an example of when you'd use which might help.

@@coldblackice Depends on the use case. Need to track a "flat" object? Mocha pro. Need to track almost any other shape? Geotracker is my favorite

i can use deformable objects like geotracker for nuke? like that robot with a lot of armys that you imported a .obx rigged model.

No, unfortunately, it's not possible to track deformable objects in GeoTracker for After Effects at the moment.

Hi! Which version of GeoTracker do you use? We've added AE beta support to the 2022.2.5 version and later. Please try to update your plug-in, and it should work with the latest AE.

so it analyzes the video and makes a 3d objects based on what it sees? then now u can use that as a reference or do we model it ourselves how does this work?

Hi! It works this way: you load footage and a 3D model of the object you want to track to the plug-in or choose a built-in model. Then you place this 3d mesh over an object on the footage and press track. The plug-in analyses the movement of the object and makes a 3D model follow it. As a result, you get a 3D object that moves the same way as the one from the footage, and you can use these tracking results for visual effects, and motion graphics.

Is never that easy like it shows it here and you can be sure you will put a LOT more work in to it, sometimes you can get away faster with manual rotomation then tweaking the pluging.
