I just downloaded the trial and I'm trying out these tips right now. I have to say so far this plugin is absolutely mind blowing! What's so impressive so far is how easy and intuitive it is to use. I've been struggling with other tracking plugins but the ease at which you can create data to export into cinema is so very intuitive. I haven't run into any big issues yet but so far I'm loving this. I'm going to continue throwing different shots at it during this trial to see what else it can do!
Yes, we're working on new tutorials! Yesterday we released this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wiLy592l3lo.html. Check it out if you haven't already!
Finally!! though i am having an issue with the toolbar,it doesnt show up anywhere when clicking on "open toolbar",analysis is done and the effects is selected.
@Nabijon studio 28 days left only for this particular beta build. Definitely, more beta builds are coming, and they gonna be valid also for 30 days each
This is great! I had a go at the beta. Curious, would reading in 2d nulls, say exported from Mocha work in the future (for planar surface)? In most scenarios we'd do screen replacements there, but for objects in 3d space away from the surface GeoTracker would be a great addition but wouldn't want to retrack it. And last question. What is happening under the hood when it analyzes the footage, is it generating motion vectors? And if so, are they large files for high res comps? Is it temporary? and where is that data/cache stored?
Hi! We have something similar to what you described in GeoTracker for Nuke, we call these imported tracks - helpers. GeoTracker for After Effects doesn’t support helpers at the moment, but we might add this feature in the future. Yes, GeoTracker kind of generates motion vectors during the analysis. The higher resolution of the analysing footage, the larger the file is. These files with analysis aren’t temporary and they are stored in the After Effects media cache folder. You can always clear all the media cache in After Effects if you need to.
You can load a 3D model of a head to GeoTracker and track head movements with it. However, you won't be able to track emotions and facial expressions with the help of GeoTracker for After Effects. We have a tool for Nuke called FaceTracker for these purposes, but unfortunately, it's not available for AE at the moment.
I try recreate phone example, but cant set plane. Surface always slips off. Its not like in mocha, when you have 4 point of planar surface and just set pins in corners. When I move one of four point, other slips off, how can I fix this? Its doesnt streatch, and when it slips off other pints have blue line. Or maybe it some update, on your video all work fine. Plugin seems really useful, hope I can solve the problem.
The plane has to have the same proportions as the phone screen (default plane is square, screen is rectangular). What you can do is play with its Width and Height (Geometry tab) when matching it with the phone screen. And also use the estimate focal length option (Camera tab). Hope that helps!
@@keentools also I would like to know if it is possible to somehow create animation on the 3D model itself? On a simple or complex one, for example on a cylinder, so that the text can rotate around it. Or the corner of a building (box) where the text moves from edge to edge while being glued to the building? Or is it just a tracker to which you can conveniently add 3D models from other programs like c4d and elements 3d?
I can't work, because when I start adjusting the model, there is a red target displaying an error: Unfortunately, Geotrack doesn't support layers... etc, weird , I ain't using layers
GeoTracker doesn't support layers with dimensions that are different from the dimensions of the composition. To start working with GeoTracker in this case, please precompose the layer with your footage. Select the layer in the Timeline panel, and choose Layer > Pre-compose or press Ctrl+Shift+C (Windows) or Command+Shift+C (Mac OS), and then choose the 'Move all attributes into the new composition' option.
Today we released the second beta version of the GeoTracker for After Effects and added older AE version support. You can download it from our website and try it out!
Hi! We've fixed this issue in the nightly version of the plug-in. You can download it on this page, and the error shouldn't occur again: keentools.io/products/geotracker-for-after-effects
Hi! There's no direct option at the moment. However, as a workaround, you can export tracking results to Cinema 4D Lite first (it comes with AE for free). And then, you will be able to export them from C4D Lite in the FBX format, for example, and use this file in Blender. We also plan to release GeoTracker for Blender in the near future, so it will be possible to use the add-on within Blender!
I'm having a lot of trouble just lining up a simple plane. Everytime I move 1 pin, all the other pins move as well. I keep noticing a light blue line moving with the pins as well. I just want to line up the corners of the pin with the corners of my phone but every time I move 1 pin, all the other corners move as well and it's making it nearly impossible to line up. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Hi! Unfortunately, it's not really clear what might go wrong. Could you please contact us at team@keentools.io with your AE and GeoTracker versions and the screencast of the issue, if possible? This will allow us to understand it better and hopefully assist you further.
Is there a specific type of custom model I need to download for example if I want to do a headtrack will any head model work or should Iit be a wire frame
Unfortunately, we can't give any tips. At the moment, there are no built-in instruments in GeoTracker for After Effects like in Nuke for these purposes.
@@keentools Any plan to implement them? I've found the only way around it now is to set a high custom focal length, ~500-1000 and that allows for much easier manual tracking. Highly discourage using the estimated focal tracker on anything but very clean shots.
@@nicksneider5463 I've a little bit lost here. The Focal Length Estimation feature of GeoTracker works on a single image and it's not really affected by motion blur. Of course it worth to select a frame without MB and with notable perspective of the object to get an accurate result of estimation. As for tips, I'd say that more keyframes you set the better result could be achieved, but the tricky thing is how to setup keyframes consistently through the footage. In Nuke, GeoTracker has a feature to stabilize viewport around any particular pin (or set of pins), which could really help to preserve consistency of keyframes, but currently it seems that it's impossible to implement it using AE SDK (
Hi! We've got a whole tutorial just on exporting options. Check it out for all the details: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2DXk3P9kBY4.html
We released the second beta of GeoTracker for AE last week. Could you please download it from the website and let us know if the issue still persists? keentools.io/products/geotracker-for-after-effects#download
While this has lots of promise the beta is unusable for me. Opening the toolbar results in a crash error every single time. I cannot get past the open toolbar part of this tutorial.
Hi Brad! If you could provide us some details of your configuration (OS, AE version, hardware specs, etc.) that would helps us a lot to reproduce and fix the issue
Hi! You can find some examples on our website. They are initially for Nuke, but you can ignore the Nuke scripts, take footage + meshes and use them in After Effects. keentools.io/help/examples
I don't understand. Where did you get the wire frame model? Does this work for any car footage? Can the program generate a wire frame model for type of car in existence?
Hi! GeoTracker has 5 built-in primitives: plane, sphere, cube, cylinder, and head. You can use them or download the model you want from the internet as we did with the car. Please note that the plug-in can't generate wireframes.
@@keentools Did that, followed the instructions several over and it doesn't work. The object in the tracker stage fits perfectly, but when parenting the null send the object flying all over the place, and resetting the position to 0,0,0 puts the object completely out of the comp viewer. The built in tracker works better
@@Matey-qe8jg You can do a screencast of your problem and send that and your AE project file and materials (3D model, footage) so could try it on our side and see what goes wrong: team@keentools.io
