Many Many Thanks I was/am the founder, leader, guitarist and one of three vocalists in The Gentrys. I sang this song "Keep On Dancin' "when I was 17. It was a number 4 hit record in September 1965. I am still performing and singing it today. I and all The Gentrys are honored and appreciate so much, your making our hit the soundtrack for this monumental, fun video. MOST OF ALL EVERYONE FROM HOLLYWOOD TO HOME LAND KEEP ON DANCIN' !!!

yep the Cold War was a gas boomertard. Nothing like US & Soviet Union just a hair trigger away from nuclear war & total end of the planet. And just in case you missed it the Vietnam War was moar fun. And helter skelter with the Charlie Manson family as they hacked & slashed to the beat of the times. Which included anti war movement & student protest across the nation including National Guard using the student body of Kent State for target practice. Nevermid political assasinations like JFK,MlK and RFK and George Wallace. And to top it off Watergate and 'I'm not a crook' tricky Dick Nixon.

Eddie Applegate ("Richard Harrison") playing her boyfriend on the show, passed away at 81 before the end of 2016, a few months after both Patty and her tv father, William Schallert, who died 6 weeks after Patty (Mar. 29) on May 8, 2016. Jean Byron (the mom) died a few years earlier, so now Paul O'Keefe ("Ross", Patty's little brother on the show) is the sole remaining actor alive from the nucleus of that family. He is now 67 (Apr. 1951 birth).

+I Love bleach It's nostalgia; we forget that we have plenty of awful songs back in the 50's and 60's, we just don't remember any of them. And it was different back then; you could churn out and release lots of songs quickly. Today, you have to have a video to launch a song, so even the best artists only release a few song a year. I don't think you'll have a lot of people with half a dozen hits at the top of the charts like the Beatles did back then. There's still good music; just not as much of it.

I'm told that the Gentrys were the top band in Memphis back then -- I guess if you don't count the Stax-Volt artists like Otis Redding and Booker T. What's unique about this song is that it sounds for all the world like a high school dance band. Very simple arrangement with all the clichés, really simple fills, adenoidal vocalist, twangy guitars, etc. And yet it's very polished. I think that's the secret of its appeal - the Platonic ideal of a mid-60s high school garage band.

Growing up as a teen in the mid 60s/late 60s the only thing we heard from out dad was "turn down that racket"

Before becoming involved with professional wrestling; Jimmy "Mouth Of The South" Hart was a member of the rock band The Gentrys, and this 1965 hit made it into the top five spot on Billboard's Hot 100 list..

I appreciate video clips like this! Losing yourself for a couple of minutes to some great garage band music and classic TV dance clips gives you a momentary break from all the craziness around us!!!

Ahh, the 1960s good times and bad times... wait I wasn't alive in the 60s thank God there's music and history to get a little piece of that historical/revolutionary time period.❤️🌈🌻🌎✌️
