Everyone starts with zero auditions. It doesn't mean you won't get any in the future!

That's a really good question and I suppose it's up to the individual how specific they want to get with their tracking. You could definitely add a column that tracks direct bookings with no auditions. This year, I've decided to start tracking auditions that I've had to turn down for one reason or another. In the past, I was not logging those but I think it is also important info to keep track of.

You can create it yourself. Or if you are in a project that is on IMDb they will usually add you. However, you will not have a photo associated with your account unless you get IMDb PRO.

You can definitely do online classes. Many acting schools are offering classes on Zoom.

I think it's good to do background work (extra work as we used to call it) just to get some experience on set and make a little cash BUT if you're going to do that - DO NOT TOUCH IMDb! If you don't have a character name with dialogue & didn't audition then it's background work and IF you add it it's going to show up as "uncredited" which most people know means you were an extra. If you do too much extra work and keep adding up "uncredited" credits it's going to make you look like a career extra to Casting Directors and some won't take you seriously as an actor. Other than that it's good because you learn the basic "do's and don'ts" of working on set. Like NEVER plug in your cell phone without asking, NEVER take the last diet Coke, NEVER take pictures on set unless production tells you it's Ok - just a few basic ones. You can't really make a lot of money as an extra though, not enough to support a career as an actor because there's a lot of things you have to pay for: acting classes, headshots, casting sites, zed cards etc. If you haven't started college yet then it might be good to stay focused on getting good grades so you can get into a good college. Try to find an occupation that's going to pay enough to cover rent, groceries, gas, acting classes, headshots, all that other stuff. It's good to have a strong foundation BEFORE you start to pursue a career in acting but also you'll want to pick a career that's going to be flexible enough for you to take time off for auditions, call backs, rehearsals, school etc. Kurt was a software engineer before he became an actor. So is my best friend (software engineer/actor) but now he's also designing D&D games. I got my education in the military which is good because Hollywood loves veterans but military life isn't for everyone. It does give certain advantages in certain situations because sometimes CD's are looking specifically for veterans because we already know how to handle weapons etc. Then again you can learn that at a civilian rifle range. Unless your family is rich and can pay for all of your expenses you should focus on having a NON-acting career first. Be a nerd; get good grades. I can't tell you how many actors I know that aren't actually DOING it because the only real job they can get is "waiter". I mean you CAN but do you want to be one of ten million struggling actors or one of seven billion that are struggling to survive? As for doing theater... once you start -: you'll get hooked on it. I LOVE doing live theater but it also doesn't usually pay a whole lot BUT it's where you'll develop genuine passion for the CRAFT of acting. Might even get cast in something while doing live theater because one of the people in the audience just happened to be a producer (happened to me & that was the job that made me SAG/AFTRA eligible). Not everything in theater is "serious" all the time. Sometimes it's va comedy but even if it isn't - you SHOULD have fun and enjoy the process. That's why it's called a "play". Get out there on stage and PLAY. There will be no shortage of opportunities to be serious and "emotional" but when you know what you're doing even that can be fun.

One other thing - if they have a theater class at your high school - get into it. And don't worry about how serious they are. You're only responsible for YOUR OWN performance; not everybody else's. If they're pissing you off - let that work for you; not against you. Work FROM it. The quality of your acting depends not upon you but what your scene partner does TO you but for that you have to be open and receptive.

You'd probably fit in just fine in Los Angeles but also (as a general rule) the more accents you can learn the more auditions you'll be able to submit for. My agent recently asked me if I could do a believable Texas accent - I can't, so I missed out. If you can do a perfect American accent that's good but don't try to kill your natural accent. Be who you are but work on broadening who you CAN be. Pat Morita didn't actually have a Japanese accent but he still ended up playing Mr. Miyagi in "The Karate Kid".

I've done them in the past and will probably do another one soon.

They can certainly be helpful just like reading a book on acting can be helpful. However, I don't think they can compare to an interactive class where you get to perform in front of the teacher and get feedback about your acting. These types of classes can be in person or online like via Zoom.
