I keep fancy goldfish Ranchu/Oranda and butterfly koi together in a 500 gallon pond. I have never had any problems.

Just put three butterfly koi in my pond with the six resident shubunkin! So excited to see them all interact and grow.

My kois hate any kind of goldfish, even the single-tail ones. They keep bullying the goldfish & eating their eyes. :(

Bro I need help, I’ve got this comet goldfish… ima start off and say that it was initially feed for a gar that my friend had. He happened to be the only survivor out of the others and grew to a pretty decent size. My friend gave him to me to feed to my piranhas but my piranhas won’t bother him, there actually kinda timid of him if he gets aggressive. So I went n got this 55 gal from another friend that already had some sand and algae in it. I cleaned it out as much as I could but left the sand just bc it’s a bi*** to clean out. I set up the tank n let it run and next day put the comet in and he’s just been acting weirddd. He’s usually more active but since putting him in the 55 by himself he’s been really still. I see his fins moving every couple of seconds but in between he will just be still and let himself drift a little. He’s not floating to the top or gasping for air. Idk I can’t tell if my water conditions are just not well yet on my behalf, or if he’s just stressed or even if he’s actually calm and at peace that no one’s trying to kill him. 😕 not sure but I’ve been keeping a close eye on him. If anyone could give some insight it would be much appreciated

If you run a submerged pump to circulate water your pond can freeze over the koi slow their metabolism way down. My koi have survived 5 winters

Goldfish and Koi Fish share a very similar ecology and their taxonomically quite closely related as well

I've got a single smaller koi in my fancy gold fish 55 to grow him out that isn't going to be problematic right? My one fancy is fully grown and the black moor and oranda with him are slightly smaller they're still about twice the size of the koi, yes they're going outside once they're bigger but I'm under the idea that I can keep him growing with the goodies for a year or two? Thoughts

I have an aggressive KOI that was too young to put in my pond so I put into my 500 galloon tank with my fancy goldfish and 2 of my orandas was massaced by that KOI😫😫

U can put goldfish with kois but only male goldfish, dont put female goldfish with kois, bcos wen gildfish female spawn egg , koi attack that female goldfish, to eat the egg until the it cant spawn egg and they eat also the eye of female gildfish
