After a very short 7 days, I have finally decided whether or not to keep the 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition I bought from Carvana.
This was a really tough decision but I think I made the right choice!

Glad to see you made this into a good experience through an optimistic approach. The steering wheel looks 1,000x better and I’m extremely picky with my cars. I still believe that was a low mileage steering wheel regardless of the dirt. Those Alcantara wheels need cleaning every 3 months or they will look brown on the edges.

Just watched your delivery video. I'm excited to find out that you've decided to keep it. Sucks that the car was posted without a honest description but on the flip side of things, the small flaws allow you to get additional content and put your own touches on the car! I did a google search on your exact vehicle after watching your video and I was surprised to find only 1 example for sale in that color right now. New Subscriber

I had a 2016 Honda Civic EXL,I wanted the 2020 SI,so I went to my favorite Honda dealer and ordered it,it was made for me,I have all the papers,I got it October 2019,I love it and will never get rid of it!

Glad you decided to keep it (after watching your first vid). All the issues seem minor IMHO, driving Uber will yield more problems I would think. Hopefully you bought it at a good price. Just have fun with it and don’t look back.

Silverrock really surprised us. They had no problem replacing the battery, drivers door code panel, and the a/c mode door actuator in my wife's SHO. Now hopefully we won't have any other issues.

I respect your decision. If I was in this situation, the car would have never left the flatbed. Especially with how much the car costs, no shot I would have accepted delivery, or kept the car with all the unannounced issues with the car.

I would say keep it if the price is right, meaning since the car came with all those deep scratches and a scuffed steering wheel and seat that Carvana didn’t emphasize and let you know about, try to negotiate with them and pretty much put them on the spot saying how upset you were and on top of that mention the front lip when the guy delivered the car. From there you’re just hoping Carvana either fixes all the problems for you at no extra cost or you try and get them to lower the price because at the end of the day you weren’t satisfied with their service and how they didn’t tell you about majority of the flaws the car had

I am still amazed how willing all commenters are on forgiving the flaws of the vehicle . As someone who sells cars you all would give me a hell of a time on this . Plus the car is prepaid on delivery . I would not get dime one before putting the car right for any serious buyer and rightly so . I'd like to know why you are all so easy going ?? Oh and where do you go for any service ?? Thank's for letting me vent .

for the price keep it cause u can find another steering wheel that other fk8 guy are selling off 20-21, and paint are easily fix get a paint correction and that will be fix easy. As long as there wasnt any mechanical issue your good.

Also, being an owner of a 2018 ITR, would suggest getting a 2017 - 2019 leather steering wheel. Also, I would get a better weighted shifter, the stock shifter is ok but weighted one is much better. I would also get dream auto seats covers from the UK, they match the seat colors and do a phenomenal job of protecting the seats. Hope this is helpful.

What a bummer about all that you had to go through with time and money. I have a '21 in Championship White, which has been a great little commuter and a fun car all around. I did drive it hard and wore the front tires quickly, but I don't know how that car could have had so much wear in 4.6K miles. My steering wheel is almost like new at 10K miles, I live on a big hill, and my brake pads are not even close to being worn out. If you have 5% doubt about keeping it, you may be good to go with your gut, get rid of it, and get another one. If you keep it, I hope all of the issues are behind you and that you get to only get to enjoy it going forward.

My challenger is a 2017 and i just replaced the factory tires at 57k miles, car also has 93% of the brake pad life left which is nuts. Car is not even close to having any wear on it and has not even a speck of rust anywhere on the car.

when you want to see more detail from photos. Can you request additional photos before buying. Especially the rims , drivers seat and steering wheel. I would have bugged them to no end to complete the deal.

Exactly.. I have a 60k mile Type S that was in a minor front end collision. I paid out of pocket to fix it with all new OEM parts. Frame was perfectly fine. I put a 20,000 K24a2 motor which was fully rebuilt with all new upgraded internals, including a full Supertech valvetrain with head porting.. a BRAND NEW built transmission with racing shifter, new DSS axles, Type R Brembo upgrade, brand new Stage 4 ClutchMasters FX400... The whole drivetrain was brand new. The guy shows up and then starts complaining about the front end collision after I had already provided the Carfax, and the title is still clean. He drove the car before and LOVED it. I dont understand people like this. You buy a car and pay a fair price for what you get. I was probably losing $10,000 in this trade off and he would have got a brand new car that is now collectable and skyrocketing in value... His loss because now I have had offer of $20k for it! lol

from my previous experience as a inventory associate working for them youd be surprised what the cars go through when being delivered from different facilities especially if they dont service the cars themselves and take them to a auction to be serviced and which later would have issues and notice what they messed up and the longer they sit in the inventory lot. The cars might look good in the pictures and show the cosmetic flaws but it will look more noticable over time the longer the car gets moved around especially if the IAs, loaders or truck drivers dont properly drive them with care.

I actually had to send mine back it was clearly in a crash an had white splatter over the black paint on the roof an had a drill hole on the frame around the door where it was repaired.. i flipped on carvana that nothing of what was wrong was disclosed

@@angelhernandez-ln8ik i co me completely agree. When I bought my 2019 used I was amazed at how awful the steering wheel was and how badly it had aged in such a short time. To me, just looking at it aesthetically and in comparison to my ITRs I had, the JDM OE steering wheel was vastly better in design.

Got a dodge charger R/T from Caravana. Had a few interior and Exterior cosmetic issues. But they Took care of it through Sliver Rock. So I do feel Why you acted the way you did.

We’re you able to carefully verify the history on that car? In my 15 years as a professional auto technician, the number of times I saw a car with under 5,000 miles need a rear brake job was NEVER. I also noticed a nick in steering wheel airbag cover in the video while you were driving (seam between cover and steering wheel) that proves to me that it was very likely tampered with. Maybe the airbag was deployed, steering wheel bent, & thus the used steering wheel? Very cool car, and I’m glad you got it, but my opinion is something is sketchy with the mileage (allegedly, potentially). I’d dig deeper. You “may” be owed some money back here. Good luck.

I think he just got blinded by the fact that he was able to get this car and ignored all the warning signs. This car was obviously canibalized and had parts pulled for another vehicle and they re-installed the old parts from the used CTR. God only knows what all was taken from his "nearly New" car. It's probably loaded up with parts from a CTR with higher mileage and potential abuse. I personally don't understand why someone would accept a situation like this one, but I guess if he is okay with paying for a great big question mark so be it. I just hate seeing someone take advantage of something like this. You know they planned that shit out. Got a bunch of brand new parts and probably made money on the deal.

Anybody who knows anything about cars and you being a technician as myself knows that that car probably had 20,000 miles on it. Judging by the replacement tires the brake percentage of pad life and the wear and tear on the interior components. You just can't teach common sense. And common Sense will tell anyone to pay $60,000 for a Honda Civic no matter how fast it is is Ludacris..

Its also the drivers that are supposed to clean the cars, thus why they don't get cleaned properly. I tried to buy a car from carvana 2 seperate occasions 4 different cars, all of them went back and I have never bought a car through them.

Similar situation with carvana. Got a 2019 type r with 14k miles and it was filthy and gears were constantly popping out on their own when making turns. Immediatley went back and traded it for the 2021 boost blue (color i initially wanted) with 4k miles. They claim they "tried" cleaning it but its all bs. Both cars were dirty inside.

How did you pull down the collar, that shit is so tough. I have my 2021 CTR but I had to take off the panels and some screws later and was able to take it off.

I used to sell cars for 5 years subaru Hyundai plus used at this local lot and we told people whatever it took to sell it even though we were honest about majority of the deal but all used cars did have dings and scratches and worn out tires but the new cars were mint wrxs and tiburon were the hottest hatches in those days. only thing I can say man and I drive a 97 civic sedan ex til this day so I live honda but almost feel you're trying to hard to be the guy with the type r but if you love it then hey man enjoy it !

Not trying to be “hard” at all. I wanted a solid daily that fits my lifestyle and this was the perfect car. I downgraded from a brand new $100k raptor that I waited 8 months for. The LE will hold value no matter the miles I add to it. That’s one reason I picked a LE over a base CTR

We bought 2017 1/2 White Nissan Murano, after 5 months paint started peeling from the rear bumper. It was painted and it was not disclosed with possible damage that was also not disclosed. They would not take it back and denied work even though there was evidence of overspray on the tail lights. They blamed Nissan for bad quality paint but Nissan dealer said it it was their bad paint we would see the black of the bumper not another layer of white paint underneath. I ended up selling it back to Carvana with a little loss. Will never buy Carvana again.

I was going to be critical of your initial impression. Like really? Tires? Are we going to worry about tires and a few minor scratches...? I would give my left nut for that car, even if some crazy ex went at it with a bat and sandpaper LOL. But I get it. You pay a lot. You had a vision in your head and it didn't line up when you first met. That's really on Carvana... It's still a really nice ride. I'm glad you decided to keep it and fix it up. If the last guy didn't keep it nice maybe you can at least. :D

Carvana once delivered a Fiesta ST with a clean title to my house, LOL. Entire front end repainted like crap, all four rims yellowed and scratched, motor mounts totally screwed. Refused delivery.

I'm with you, if you're spending a ton of money on a car, it shouldn't come with so much wear. I recently bought a WRX from Carvana and while I love driving it, it has some wear on it like your Type R. Lots of little scratches and rock chip and curb rash on the rims, and the steering wheel was sticky and worn. I'm not keeping mine, I am swapping it for a 370z. I really want to keep the WRX because I love driving it, and every time I drive it, I love it more and more, but Silver Rock did not approve all the repairs, so it's going back to Carvana. My 370z should be deliver this Tuesday.

Some of these cars must be getting driven hard early in their life. I have a 2016 FK2 CTR (way more rare than the FK8) bought with 35km on the clock and now 55000km on it and no mechanical wear/..., warranty servicing (no claims) and all gone through is tyres. The original ContiSport 6s wore out after 7000km ( but that is normal for that tyre). Car has no scratches/... and is my daily driver. I'd have expected better service from Carvana tbh as what was expected was not what was delivered.

I know what you mean about the Type R being a great car. I almost bought one last month (2017, 55k miles, perfect condition) but they were asking 37 and I would only go up to 35k cash. They said no deal, which sucks but whatever. I ended up buying a 19 sport hatch 6MT for 22k. Put a Hondata tune on it and a Type R shifter assembly, and boom almost as fun as the type R for much less $. Good enough for me anyway. So was the previous guy a smoker, is that why everything was caked in crud after only 4k miles? Was there an odor? You never said anything, so it must've been a nonsmoker? Enjoy!!

If this was going to be a daily driver and track car, a non-LE type R would’ve been a better choice. Thousands less for practically the same car. This is a collector car with only 600 made, here.
