A quick review of the Keis G701 Heated Gloves. At £199 are they any good? Could these be the answer for cold winter commutes?

Hi Bob, thanks for the review. I have a set of Gerbings and hate the connectors digging into my wrists, so much so that I hardly use them. Like the idea of the Keis but I dont think there is enough cable from my older style jacket to run out of my outer jacket sleeve and into the glove socket. Seems it would be fine if I can fit the the cuffs inside my outer jacket sleeve. Hence considering the the short cuff version, but then loos the option of a remote battery when riding our blood bikes that dont have power cables.

Hi Bob, I totally understand where your coming from. Dependant on which outer jacket I'm using depends if I connect the gloves to the under jacket, or simply use the battery pack on a jacket that has a second 'inner' cuff. You can get longer cables from Keis if you so wish but I'm not sure if these are suitable with the Gerbings system.

How do you find the battery cable coming out of the pocket and into the connector on the back of the glove? It has to come through the waterproof zip so seems unfit for purpose. Why they didn't put a connector inside the pocket, the batteries seem like an after thought. Mine also didn't come with the adaptors which Keis were apologetic about but they are technically not the correct batteries they are sending out, they should have female connectors but they can't get them manufactured so are sending the ones with male connectors instead!

Hi Fozzy, your right, I've tried it and there isn't enough cable, which is why I use the batteries. Alternatively, I use a different jacket that doesn't have the waterproof cuff. My jacket is the slightly older version so I have shrink wrapped the male to male adaptors onto the the sleeve cables.

I just received a set ( didn’t buy any batteries yet ) hooked them up to the bikes battery and the top along the fingers are cold. Only from the knuckles back to my wrist has any heat with gloves turned up full. Actually has a hot spot on the back of the hand. How are your gloves along the fingers ? I’m trying to work out if mine are faulty. I’ve tried the RST and Gerbing and definitely not as warm but these are better fitting. Lovely gloves and fit great so I’m hoping mine are faulty and can be swapped out.

Hi Sanctuary Studio Scotland, firstly thanks for taking the time to contact me. These are the first heated gloves I've owned. My gloves have heat on the backs of the hands and while the fingers aren't cold, they aren't as 'hot' as the back of the hand, I have also noticed a slight 'hot spot' just behind the knuckles. I've currently got more than a couple of inch's of snow with an air temp around zero degrees. I used the battery option and went for a walk this morning for over an hour. I found today the gloves to give a good level of warmth. I think the extra heat on the backs of the hands warmed the veins which in turn warmed my fingers. I've only warn the gloves on my 120 mile round trip commute a few times, and so far they have proven to keep the cold at bay better than heated grips alone. The gloves aren't as warm as my jacket or even the boot insoles (review coming soon). It might be worth contacting Keis to see if they do have a fault. Please let me know if Keis do swap them over and if there is a noticable difference.

@@robchisholm72 I’ll let you know what they say. I’m thinking it must be a fault. I owned the older generation RST paragon and they were much warmer all over. The newest Paragon 6 and the Gerbing are also a lot warmer all over but I prefer the fitting of the Keis so I’m staying hopeful it’s a faulty set. Unfortunately my hands would be to cold with the fingers the way they are. I should know when I call them tomorrow :)

@@NorrieChristie Fingers crossed you get a constructive outcome tomorrow. I've only opted for the Keis ones because I've had my heated under jacket for a couple of years now and have been very impressed with that.
