@@richbarrett6380 you hit the nail on the head. Oh man, the stories I cld share are endless. "Friend" & other friends made a plan for first friend's bday bash - a dinner. First friend says last minute I want to introduce you guys to new boyfriend, everyone objects because most were single and those with others wld have of coz wanted to bring them. She does anyway. Guy didn't get introduced somehow and I got bored & I left with my best friend. Followed out by two guys who offered we go to another place which we did. Hooked up with one of the guys on said evening and woke up tomorrow to a mil plus messages of first friend asking if anyone had seen a guy wearing ABC driving ABC car. My brain caught up with self & realised he was in my 🛌 nxt to me I thought oh crap. Woke him up he said ey, her and I jus met nothing even happened, call her right now. Told him out of my house stupid. Felt bad so confessed and she broke down and her EXACT words were "Of all the women here, why her!? She is darker than I am!" (Happily so) I thought ooooh this is where we are taking it, called the guy back and did him once again for good measure just because. She has never introduced a guy to me since and we haven't spoken either. But hey hoo.

Black people its about time we had this conversation. It's long over due. We complain about racism all the time yet within and amongst ourselves we are serving a form of racism to each other. If you are darker skinned woman in particular it gets worse unless you are being stereotyped and fetishized like Lupita or Adut. The irony is for women you are represent the lowest forms of ugliness and for men you often the epitome of masculinity and desirable fetish. But yet still the journey particularly growing up is not easy for darker skinned black people. Instagram is awash with pages specifically for light skins or mixed black men or women.

@Denver Mahara...Man speak for yourself so-called ''black people'' are not a monolith. Black people don't even exist all people of African descent have brown skin tones to varying degrees. How do you want to battle racism when you use the racially created terms by white people to define yourself? Do you see society still calls Asian people ''yellow people'' to a large degree ...NO. There is no such thing as ''mixed black men or women. You are either mixed or you are of authentic African heritage.

As a race, we’re not intellectually intelligent enough to have this conversation because too many idiots in our race think this way. I mean everyone knows those blacks “oh I can’t go in the sun I’ll get black” WTH like you said that out loud like it makes sense. Or “ooohhh your baby is pretty what is he or she mixed with?” I mean the stupidity is a bottomless pit in our community so I don’t see this conversation being productive at all yet we claim black excellence. No what we really mean is black excellence if it’s mixed with another race.

RU-vid might delete this comment because it could be deemed as controversial, but for the sake of humanity and the future of black women who are little black girls today I will make an attempt: Many of these mixed race people with black fathers and non black mothers who hate black women will in the future be Judges, lawyers, doctors, nurses, public school teachers, and hold other occupations that traditionally have executed unfair treatment towards full blooded black people and they will have an anti black whyte ideology. If you look at the coloreds in South Africa who are just as racist and bigoted towards the black South African as the whyte South Africans upi can see how they execute harsh treatment towards black South Africans. In the future the full blooded black population here in America will be greatly diminished and mixed race people with black fathers will be the new overseers of full blooded blacks. These people will be the interviewers on the jobs you seek, they will be the police that pull you over and treat you worse than whyte cops, they will be the judges that will give you longer sentences, and they will be the public school teachers who will target full blooded black children-especially little black girls for suspension from those schools. What you seeing today in how mixed race people with black fathers look at and treat full blooded black people-especially full blooded black girls today will be a 1000000x worse in the future.

The issue here isn't her beauty it's her skin tone. In fact, in some instances, the more beautiful a dark skinned woman is, the worse she'll have it, because there are people who actually think you shouldn't be that beautiful if you're that dark (insanity, I know). Add that to the fact that she grew up in a group with someone who was lighter; and favored, and perceived as prettier by some, more talented by some, and more worthy of attention by many. Kelly became successful despite the odds that were stacked against her, and that's just one of the reasons I root for this chick (even when she gets on my nerves☺️).

I think that in our communities we were taught to not like our skin because we we're considered a conquered race that made us feel weak and non prideful. This conversation was here yesterday, today, no doubt tomorrow and beyond… Skin colour has been linked to many views and levels of acceptance, stereotypes and assumptions within different Cultures, Religions and Races around the world. Even going back centuries for example The Slave Trade with the slave masters separating the Field Slaves - Darker Skin tones and House Slaves - Lighter Skin tones who were considered more “pleasing” and “acceptable” to be “part” of the white household. Leaping forward to more recent decades and the term “Passing” a phase related to a Black person who was able to pass as White due to their much lighter skin complexion and by doing so gaining “benefits” they believed it would give them the advantages of White Privilege (another complicated and complex discussion for another time). Also worth a mention are other cultures, ie Asian cultures who beyond African and Caribbean who also buy into that idealism of White/ Lighter skin tones being the acceptable view or desired look of true beauty. So the issue of ‘having’, ‘wanting’ and ‘preferring’ a skin tone far removed from ones own natural birth skin tone all the controversy that comes with that is only really going to change when we as individuals stand up, remember and praise the fact that TRUE NATURAL BEAUTY really does COME IN ALL COLOURS and SHADES..!!! 😍👍🏻👍🏽👍🏿😍
