i like that they show it's the patriarchy because it's being built, maintained, and governed by men. there is no conspiracy and it's not an accident. in REAL LIFE proof of work is required to wield power. whereas in barbie land, where it's all just arbitrary. this movie is a great metaphor for female solipsism vs reality.

I worked as a PA for this day on set. 14 freaking hours lol. I'm upset they cut so much from this sequence, I watched Ryan Gosling take a step back full alert when the double doors automatically opened in front of him and he was walking around an outdoor restaurant spilling everyone's drinks because he couldn't believe there was actually liquid in them (similar to Margot spilling water on herself in the Mattel scene) and him playing with the man's mustache when he first met him. All cut from the final product but it was amazing having been there on this day. I had a blast!

Fun fact: the I am just ken dance did not exist in 3 dimensions. 1. Barbie is just a movie so in our real world the dance never happened. 2. The dance ocurred in Barbieland which in the movie is a fictional land that doesn't exists and 3. The dance only happens in Ken's mind, when the song ends they show all the kens on the beach with their beach clothing, so that dance was a total dilusional experience the kens were having. Weird.
It's not that people misunderstand what writers mean, it's more that depending on perspective one can enjoy what was meant in a way different than it's intention.

Greta intended for this movie to be about Ken's growth just as much as Barbie's and it makes so much sense given the toy's history-the Ken doll was literally created just to be Barbie's accessory or "boy toy" with little to no personality of his own. The real Ruth Handler said that when she created Barbie, a whole bunch of little girls kept asking her "where's Barbie's boyfriend?" so much that she eventually had to give her one

We’d go to work to keep infrastructure running, but we’d have a blast. We’d go golfing, watch sporting events, go fishing and hunting and drive around safely. We’d play our video games and enjoy life. Ken shows it here. We only need women to repopulate. They can hangout with us if they party with us or serve us, but that’s it. Barbie wants neither so she’s kicked to the curb.
Ken was the best part of this movie. Guy was treated like a minority in his world his whole life, and when he finally becomes strong, he's considered 'wrong'...lmao..alr.

Sylvester Stallone’s story about making Rocky is incredibly inspiring to any film maker. (HE SOLD HIS OWN DOG) then It’s a big truck that is also electric so it can hold many needed supplies and is good for the environment. Honestly I only agree with the fact there are no women on money. Should change Ben Franklin at least. MAYBE there should be a woman on MT Rushmore but Statue of Liberty soooo. Ronald regan and bill Clinton?
