That's probably wishful thinking, that would be cool though. Maybe he will retool the tracks later on a album or mixtape. And just take out all the beef stuff just a thought
@@19krocker91He basically put out an EP on Drake between April 30th and may 4th Track 1: Euphoria Track 2: 6:16 in LA Track 3: Meet The Grahams Track 4: Not Like Us
I do think he missed this deeper meaning: Eight bars= Bars are used in prison cells If you're in a two man cell, that other man is your celly He doesn't want to talk to him Language barriers= Cell bars are barriers No accent you can 'sell' me= Cell You know I'm a 'sel'fish ninja= Cell, cellies, barriers, bars Kendrick is too intelligent for any of them
I thought you might be reaching at first, but you definitely got something that everyone else missed. Kendrick has studied the greatest, and mastered their tricks. Lupe is definitely one of those, who approaches his bars from every possible aspect. At this point, the question begs to be asked. Has the student surpassed the teacher?
You're right about the Jamaican accent because there is a clip of Drake when he was a teenager saying that it's a really ignorant way of speaking. Drake only started talking like that when Dancehall was on the rise again and it was deemed the 'cool' thing to do.
Drake was a Jewish kid in Toronto, who didn't even try to be a part of even the culture of things in Toronto, before it was something he could make money off of anyway. And that's what kills Drake; he doesn't culturally belong to anywhere; not Atlanta, not Texas, not The South generally, not SoCal, not East London, not Jamaica, and not even Toronto. The man's a mercenary who doesn't value anything but money, and what money can get him. Hopefully he finds himself at some point, before it's too late
Also, the "shot a Drac" line could reference the previous shots he threw at Drake in songs not being direct enough, and he is aiming to fix that on this track.
The one bar that's sleep on is. Once a lame always a lame. If you look up the definition of Lame, it's a animal that cant walk or has trouble walking, hence Jimmy wheelchair and the album for all the dogs.
I love his breakdown. A lot of people miss that Kendrick waited to drop Euphoria on National Honesty Day which is April 30th. This fits right in with this guy’s analysis regarding the truth serum etc.
I honestly don’t get the idea that Mr Morale isn’t good. I recently listened to it and that is an amazing album. I will say that you will have all types of emotions listening to that album but me personally I enjoyed the highs, the lows and the prevail that this album consumes.
No one (or let me say few folks) is saying that Mr Morale was bad album; the point has been made that, even more than with TPAB, the album was so dense that it took a good 3-4 listens for the themes to finally start to gel. The problem with that, is that most folks didn't listen all that many times; maybe they got through 2 listens, but that was it. Drake, in his poorly crafted diss, ended up getting folks to go back to Mr Morale, and give the project a couple more listens; with folks getting to their 3rd/4th listens, the project finally opened up, and folks could finally see and appreciate some of what they missed before
They only care about if the album is played in the clubs, they only see success in the numbers their albums do not the deeper meanings their albums convey. That's the main differences between Kendrick and Drake.
We know Kendrick was a fan and friend of Prince but there was an episode of Larry King in 1998 featuring Prince, Chaka Khan and Drake's uncle, singer of "One and a Million", Larry Graham. Prince was exposing the industry and trying to help them get ownership of their music or at least decent royalties. Larry King asked Prince a question regarding all 3 of them getting paid and Prince shut him down quickly. He said "I'm paid....I'm here to help THEM get their money". I'm pretty sure Kendrick knew this too.
I would say over 90% of Black American’s Grew up seeing, listening too Teddy Pendergrass and the Wiz whether it was from your era or not, and whether it was from your Mom, Aunt, Uncle Grandparents, neighbor’s etc our music and movie’s our a part of our Culture as Black Americans! My mother play this song at her wedding reception! I myself listen to a lot of older music even though it’s not from my time. I grew listening to a lot through my family and still listening to this day!
As a black American, his dancehall colonization was the final straw for me. That’s when I noticed he hops to each culture and use them, then move to the next cosplay costume. Not only that, the video of him saying patois was ignorant. Hes such a fake.
14:53 this is purely anecdotal from my perspective but I feel like can say with certainty that The Wiz was something Kendrick watched as a child. By the time we were kids (Dot is 36, Drake 37, and Cole is 39), it was already a classic in many black families. Just like Thriller, or anything else by Michael and the actors/actresses in that movie. We’re talking Nipsy Russell, Richard Prior, Diana Ross, a film produced by Quincy Jones and music featuring Luther Vandross. The Wiz was a big deal for many years and with it being apart of his/our parents time, it was most definitely something they passed to us and had us watch. I can’t think of anyone in my immediate or extended family, or any one of my friends who didn’t watch the Wiz when they were a kid. Heck, my first year as a music teacher I had my students watch and perform it lol. So, I don’t think What’s the Dirt is too far off here. Just my opinion though, I’m not tryna come for you I’m just saying I can see how he would come to that conclusion.
Absolutely correct. It used to come on television during holidays and school breaks. Watching it was a must in Black families. I don’t know of anyone I grew up with who didn’t watch it. Plus it had Michael Jackson in it. I watched it every time it came on.
Yea I remember that Patrick CC vid… it was so horrible lol he obviously had no clue what the tracks were about and had the MOST surface level understanding of the disses if that because he even got most of the lines wrong 🤦🏽♂️🤣 After seeing that vid I knew I should never watch his vids breaking down Hip Hop
Kendrick also likes the Back to Back record, because his label mate Daylyt has made tracks claiming he wrote Back to Back. Check out Daylyt's tracks- Cats out of the Bag and Lytskin.
I love his breakdowns for these songs, even if I feel like he's reaching sometimes. But I would like to point out the one bar that I caught that I believe he missed. "Once a lame, always a lame Oh, you thought the money, the power, the fame would make you go away?" Considering that Drake was Jimmy in Degrassi. A handicapped guy, or a "lame" (literal definition). Underrated bar.
facts 😂😂😂 she was JUST saying on the Kai x Kevin Hart stream vid that she not finna watch the hour long video of their funniest moments. these KDot videos really got her in a headlock it seems😂
Is someone going to do this for drake’s disses? Nope. He just says a bunch of surface level bullshit that no one cares about. Drake took a major L. More than media may lead you to believe
What's The Dirt just dropped his 6:16 in LA analysis and boy it goes deep deep. He's doing Drake's disses next but idk if it's gonna have the same depth as the Euphoria and 6:16 breakdown.
I caught a couple things after a few hundred plays. Like when he said you don’t have a classic if you listen closely he says you don’t half one like ghost writer wrote half your classics.
Haven't seen anyone else the meaning for "Everybody wanna be demon, till they get chipped by a throwaway" Drake wanna be Demun(Future) by being with all the girls and a playboy, "until he gets chipped by a throwaway" Unit drake got his feelings hurt over a girl that wasn't wifey material, but just a hit it and throwaway type of girl. I thought I was reaching!
best part about it, is that it wasn't just any girl. it was one of Future's girls. it's part of the reason they fell out with eachother. he literally wanted to be DeMun, til he got chipped by his throwaway
the Wiz is literally my favorite musical film 😅😂 im a fantasy/scifi fan so it really appealed to me as a child & i only see more in it as an adult. it's got some iconic songs and it's so damn quoteable!
You're def. right about the Jamaican presence in Canada - especially in Toronto - but that doesn't necessarily mean Aubrey had any meaningful connections to the community as a child. As someone with a scarily similar upbringing to Drake, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that his mother brought/sent him to Jamaican cultural events, nor would I be surprised to learn that someone reached out to her & invited her son to participate. Of course, it also wouldn't surprise me to learn that young Aubrey mostly existed in very separate circles from the various Black diasporan communities. When you have the ethnic & cultural background that Aubrey Graham & I have as Canadian-Americans, the choice is entirely up to your mother & you as to how much connection you have to, "Blackness."
Might be a reach, but the "Random acts of kindness" line could be alluding to Millie Bobby Brown, there was a time she made a big thing about spreading kindness.
@@emblem2425Yeah, I connected it to X too. He was the one who promoted those Random Acts of Kindness which Drake hijacked for his God’s Plan video. Layers!!!!
Michael Jackson was also in the Wiz and Drake has made MJ references in his songs and Kendrick has as well. Also, when the youtuber broke down the Fubu and Tommy Hilfiger line, I thought about how Aaliyah wore and even modeled for Tommy Hilfiger and Drake has an Aaliyah tattoo as well as a song with her vocals I forgot the name of it but it’s on youtube still. Breaking down rap lyrics is so fun lol. This battle was fun to witness on both sides but breaking down Kendrick’s disses shows that Kendrick is really a student of hip hop. Drake’s career will still go on but this beef will be talked about for years to come and analyzed over and over.
Lol yeah, I feel like it’s both informative, totally fine and somewhat cringe at the same time. Like when he was talking about the braids, though factual, I was just like alright buddy move on lol.
The fact that Whats The Dirt Went on and on about that Kill Bill reach and disnt even do a breakdown of the movie AI which Kendrick actually mentioned is crazy to me 😂
It drove me nuts when like zero reactors understood the “shot me a drake didn’t aim down enough” line - it was a response to drakes “just to have a talk with your ass I had to hike down” good catch Dee!
Nah hold on Dee this vid a hour but you high-key putting me on because I'm 4 minutes in and I didn't even peep all this Kill Bill shit as much as I played the song.
This is the intelligence of kendricks music. Imagine listening to your favorite song over and over again and STILL finding new easter eggs in it and new theories. A gift that keeps on giving. The brilliance of people now going back to listen to his other stuff and analyzing it. Rich Spirit and N95 and i think its called Count me out. That man is a true artist with talent. He has smart fans too vs Drakes bandwagon children.
37:04 One thing I do think What’s the Dirt is off about is the relevance of the braids line, and it’s obvious why he wouldn’t quite get the significance and hilarity of it. While it’s totally fine, and to an extent, understandable why he would bring up the cultural and historical significance of braids in African and black American culture, all you really gotta do is close your eyes and remember the sheer and utter pain you feel when the braids are too tight lol! The headaches and crying when it feels like somebody’s trying to snatch your soul out your body in order to make sure your braids are as crispy as Drakes be sometimes lol. So, it’s nice the dude tried to give us a history lesson there, but it has less to do with that and with Kendrick’s wearing of braids and more to do with boi, it must be the braids that got you acting delirious cuz you should no better than to try me lol.
Dee thanks fir doing this! It's DEFINITELY worth the hour. Also, I don't think some of your followers realize how intelligent you TRULY are. It's BECAUSE of your intelligence and logic that you're able to sew through alot of shit and don't allow your emotions to think FOR you. I have so much respect for that which I'd why I've followed you for so long. Plus the shade is top tier!
I hate that people keep missing that in the infancy of A.I., it gets confused and will change parts of its wording into something from a different subject (such as names). Which is why Joel Osteen and Hailie Joel Osment are referenced that way.
I think I’m like the only person who got the Benjamin and Jackson line. On JCole’s song Crocodile Tears off of Might Delete Later Cole refers to himself as Benjamin Button. Cole=Benjamin, Drake = Jackson, Kendrick = Joe. As well as Ben the rat, as well as money, as well as white house presidents. But the main one is Cole referring to himself as Benjamin, Cole also saying he’s the reaper, he also talks about Jesus/savior on that. People also thought the you don’t have a classic was to Drake but it was to both Cole and Drake. Mainly to Cole though for saying MMATBS was tragic on 7 minute drill.
I love your excitement for the song, in general. She just wanted to rap the whole song after every line said. 😂😂😂 It's nice to see somebody that likes the song just as much as I do. Many reacting RU-vidrs seemed to fake their liking for the song and Kendrick, and left me feeling a little cringed. I appreciate the authenticity.
I think he was wrong about one part. Michael Jackson didn't have a pet rat. He did a theme song to the movie about kids being turned into rats. The song starts out as " Ben and me".
Dee you ain't know? Joe budden had a whole 4 diss track ep for drake years ago 😅 an he says almost all the points alot of people shoot at drake. Joe brought up the surgery stuff first aswell. Actually you should react to Making of a murderers by Joe budden. Honestly one of my favorite disses. That's why people assumed Joe would rap again after drake went Ig fingers on him 😂
