Of all the names mentioned in the control verse, Drake is the only Canadian. He has no concept of the heritage of competition that is Hip-Hop. This is what is meant when people say that he is a rap cosplayer. He's profitting from a culture he doesn’t truly understand.

Considering what he said when he first came out, I believe he knew about competition. That "beef" he had with the other Toronto rapper shows that. I think it's one of two things: 1) He didn't think someone who he, what he believes, helped put on will come at him in any way or, 2) It wasn't about the Control verse at all, he was in his feelings about the DMX situation and Kendrick's "feelings" on it. (And you can add 1 to this as well)
