EMERGENCY LIVE. Kendrick Lamar finally drops a response to Drake’s “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle”. What are your thoughts? Was it worth the wait? Let us know tonight @9PM EST
@@Cee_H euphoria is exactly what I wanted from a diss track. The Story of Adidon was that as well, but I feel now people are looking for a diss track to bring forth some major revelation when that's never been the case.
@@nigel813 I get what you saying. I say 50 cent / ja rule beef changed it. Where people expect a rap beef to result in with someones career ending.. And people are probably championing Adidon as the only thing that will actually leave a dent in Drakes legacy because he is such a big artist. Drake essentially can't lose, people have been hating on him rapping and singing from when he first came out, nothing new can be said about Drake and Drake memes himself constantly..
Euphoria makes Push Ups sound like a children's taunt. Kendrick surgically eviscerated Drake's identity, phoniness, and general existence in a song with 3 beat switches while still being a stern warning of more to come. It's wild that anyone will openly say with a straight face that Drake is somehow up on this lol. Kendrick's artistry, depth, and talent as an MC is leagues beyond Drake.
Drake putting out push ups and taylor made as if he thinks hes battling lil pump is almost disrespectful within itself. Doesnt seem as if hes taking kendrick serious whatsoever but he has his fans right where he wants them. Theyre really out here saying drake is winning because his songs are catchy which is silly.
Not to be that guy, but that’s all just a testament to the fact that an unfortunate majority of listeners know nothing of the craft. Kendrick is of a dying breed. This moment was very telling as it relates to the culture.
The beginning sample is a Teddy Pendergrass sample. Daylyt broke it down that this sample is a diss itself. Teddy-Teddy Bear; calling Drake a Teddy Bear, not like that; stop acting hard | Pen-bars, writers, ghostwriters | Dagrass-Drake on the show Degrassi | Teddy was paralyzed & in a wheelchair…Drake in Degrassi was paralyzed & in a wheelchair
Drake’s attacks on Kendrick were basically: “you have a bad deal, your wife maybe cheated on you, and oh yeah you’re short.” Kendrick eviscerated Drake’s whole character on a psychological level. He’s so methodical with it. To me there’s no comparison.
The vibe for this diss track is whack af imo. Kendrick rapping all soft in his cartoon voice with weak rhymeschemes as always. Drake talking about painting his nails and j.cole apologised this is the whackest beef of all time!
@kxngmuzikig2417 old heads never evolved past the 90's. They're expecting the 1-D or 2-D easy-to-comprehend diss records from the 90's and 00's. They either don't have the literary comprehension or patience to understand the very layered and simultaneously veiled and direct threat of a diss track like 'Euphoria'. This track was very much Kendrick telling Drake "It's either gonna be a friendly sparring match, or a fight to the death. Tell me what difficulty you wanna play on?" and then tosses the mic back to Drake to respond. So many bars and wordplay people still ain't connecting yet either.
@@kxngmuzikig2417 U are using the wird vibe like a gen z tho. Im saying the track sounds soft af when it starts and when he says 'nothing like thaat' it sounds whackk af I hate this i hate that it aint even that lyrical bro Masta Ace trackk 'acknowledge' is how u really diss an emcee
I know battles/beefs are about dirt and heavy hitting lines, but the sheer technicality of euphoria was incredible. The rhyme schemes and delivery are unlike anything I’ve heard at least in a while. I respect tf out of that. He’s showing he’s the best at his craft, or strives to be, while delivering a quality diss. You won’t see this again for a while man
@@Cee_H I said I haven’t heard anything like it in a while. It’s not the best verse(s), it’s just really good and original. It’s not an outrageous take
@@fwright22 Idol worship? 'Know nothing bout thaaat' lmao kendrick sounds so corny saying that wtf is wrong with yall liking this cartoon voice ass dude sounding weird af
No one gives a shit about how much money Statutory Drake has, he will never be in the same class of artist as Kendrick. He's just a decently talented rap fan.
Half of Drake’s ‘Take Care’ album (which is considered his classic album) was written by The Weeknd. Drake took several songs from Weeknd’s ‘House of Balloons’ album to be on ‘Take Care’. So the line Kendrick says “You don’t have one, Let your core audience stomach that, then tell ’em where you get your abs from” meaning even your “classic” album is fake and rides the success of other artists. (Double meaning of plastic surgery and being a fraud)
it's crazy cause you could make a whole damn list of artists he leeched off of 💀 if you search "drake reference track" you'll find like 20 videos which is insane
One thing I feel that people don’t mentioned about drakes classics is that it’s ALWAYS debated which are classics outside of take care, but even then people debate if that’s truly a classic whereas Kendrick has a certified classic that people universally agree on and two more classics after that
NGL Thank Me Later is my favorite Drake album, Take Care is my second. A lot afterwards had bangers but I don't think the rest were straight through no skips. Drake's advantage has always been the sheer quantity. He's put out like 2 - 3 times the albums of KDOT. But Kendrick's are of better quality to me
Its so unrealistic to expect every "knock out" diss track to be Adidon level. Kenny was damn close as you can be to that level without revealing that Drake has a hidden family europe or some shit. Plus, if you use that same logic against Drake's disses then what? he flicked a paper football at Kendrick??? Drake had some funny lines, but i donno how you can compare that to the kind of mental breakdown Kendrick gave Drake.
To his credit, Drake was smart to structure Pushups the way he did. Instead of focusing solely on Kendrick, he instead picked a fight with multiple people, which made him look strong. Which also gives him an excuse when people rightfully call him out how basic a lot of his attacks were. “He couldn’t go in because he was fighting against the entire industry!”
Kendricks needs to put that Ken rant as the intro to the next diss track. With all the laughing in the background n all. Call the track "Stand Down". Shit would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I agree Drake is “too big to fail”. He gon’ get that public bailout from his fans around the world. It doesn’t change the fact that he got bodied and his heart is hurt to his core. He hit Drake with what every mixed child fears deep down…he questioned his blackness.
No, every mixed child doesn't fear that. I know this is rap we're talking about, but that's not an excuse for you to be ignorant. Comments like this make black people look stupid. Congrats.
@@jfraz1992fr, I can’t wait to see how deep this gets. I’m not even a huge drake fan, but after Adidon I don’t think he’s stupid enough to get into beef like this without ammo. I could be wrong, but I hope I’m not.
I think this battle will definitely change how their peers view them. Career wise, nah because fans are going to be fans. Drake can’t out rap him so he would have to hit real low on the pettiness. However, Drake always been the emotional guy, his ego just might get the best of him trying to checkmate Kendrick. That might be what he wants, for Drake to overextend that neck 😂 I think Kendrick is ready for the fallout though regardless of what Drake says next. Honestly don’t think he gives af.
🇿🇦 J Cole loves Mr Morale & The Big Steppers so much he listened to RICH SPIRIT and realised that he needs to stop the cap and apologise. That album will be regarded as another classic once people realise the brilliance that it is 🔥🔥🔥
Come on Feefo, “Kendrick opened for Drake” once upon a time. Yeah, and Tom Brady backed up Drew Bledsoe too. How did that turn out? Kendrick over Drake as an artist easily…
King Crook said it pretty well: if you 35 and up; you're expecting "Hit Em Up" and aren't feelin it. The younger ppl think it's 🔥... I still think "Story of Adidon" did the biggest damage to that plastic pop star. When a track gets you crying to another man...that's wassup.
Hip Hop All Day: Kendrick Lamar's 'euphoria' was streamed 9.2 MILLION times in its first full day on Spotify - the biggest streaming day for ANY rap song so far in 2024. HUGE.
Like that was a jab Push-ups and Taylor made a combo Euphoria was a gut punch (it was a decisive blow. nothing major, but still substantial) I’m a fan of Kendrick, but Kendrick’s response was not as significant as Adidon's. Myke was right; everyone got spoiled, and thinks since Pusha's diss, every diss has to be like that. You don’t have to reveal something dirty about your opponent in order for the diss to be good. Kendrick’s diss was good.
Ken is absolutely right. Sometimes it happens right out the gate. Euphoria is one of the most scathing, direct, creative, authentic diss records ever made. It definitely gave me the feeling of "No Vaseline," "Ether," "Dollaz & Sense." It is not those, and it does not have to be. Drake's chances of surviving were super slim after "Euphoria" and the "Like Dat" verse. Now with "6:16 in L.A." Yooooooooooooooo!!!!
The Story of Adidon has everyone thinking that if you don't reveal something about someone then it's not a good diss. Basically, you have to have gossip for it to be good.
anyone saying Euphoria is mid is either a BBLD fan or just had extremely high expectations for kendrick or had some other way of diss track in mind when forecasting how he was gonna go about his diss track. Euphoria was def fire asf. im just excited to see what Drake does next. and he got on k dot about taking long to respond so I assume hes gonna take a week the longest
How is this not better then Adidon? You are too focused on reveals and less focused on the brutality of precision bars, dissection of character and an overwhelming ability that Dot delivers across 6 mins of pedigree hiphop. The biggest reveal is the astonishing reality that we have allowed a scam artist, cultural appropriating, actor to be entered into a conversation of big three. Wtaf. The guy doesnt even pen!!! Shit is embarrassing and Kenny is coming at the audience as much as he is Drake.
The problem with the diss track expectations now is everybody is looking for an Adidon. It makes it impossible for anyone to meet expectations and honestly kinda ruining the whole experience. Watching so many hiphop platforms saying this wasn't good just cuz it didn't have a killshot is not good for hiphop cuz it's not what it's all about
It won't take a toll. If anything it's the reverse of what you said. Maybe some people will feel a way for a couple days but by the end of the summer it'll be on to the next thing. It won't affect him in the slightest.
“Real niccas” been saying that drake’s whole career lol stop it. As far as the diss - This diss record was just okay. Beats were ehh. The first 2 minutes was terrible (borderline unlistenable). He was reaching with his punchlines (I’ve heard “Parkinson’s” used better in battle rap). He definitely had some good lines. Solid enough for a response from drake, who’s now on the clock. But it’s not a great diss. Just decent. Also his multiple voices is hard to listen to. This record has zero replay value for me.
This is the kind of old head conversation I've been looking for 😂 From the future we know that the reference to "Back to Back" was foreshadowing his bodying of Drake with back to back drops. He's diabolical
I believe Drake got close to J Cole solely to get information on Kendrick 😂 remember Cole was going to sign Kendrick before TDE snatched him up. Drake was fishing for personal info but Cole peeped the play and dipped last minute 😂 “master manipulator”
@@troyamari7 what year did each pop off? I can’t remember Cole being too far ahead of Kendrick plus Kendrick signed to tde early right? How can Cole sign Kendrick when he barely getting his career off the ground? Lol. Imma have to look it up.
