I never understood the hype around Kendrick. His voice sucks, his flow is rough and weird, and he's not that great lyrically. People call his shit classic a week after it drops like wtf? It almost makes me hate him, lmao. And thanks man. Resurrection is my favorite album from Common.

@@jarvasedundy1 I won't say he's the only rapper but in today's value of MCs him and J Cole are more versatile than average rappers with good beats or mumble rap styles that are annoying to some of the older rappers. Kendrick so far to me is in the top 25 with Andre 3000, Eminem, Nas, 2pac, Earl Sweatshirt etc.

SMDH This album has to be to the most OVERRATED album of all time! it's ridiculous how much hype and high ratings it got, very weak production,weak flow and plain uninspiring. It was difficult for me to even get through the entire album. One of his lousy works for sure!

The album is so weak man. Only 3 good songs. He isnt even rapping on most of the tracks. The Album has almost zero bars. Changing voices just doesnt work for Kendrick someone gotta tell him that. He cant do multiple voices like someone like Eminem.

If you've enjoyed Overly Dedicated, Section 80, GKMC & TPAB (I won't count Unmastered as that was an album of material that wasn't released) Damn has a mixture of all of those in one. I'll admit the slower paced songs feel slower than they should especially after cuts like DNA & Humble. But they all tie in. GKMC and TPAB had slow cuts that resonated in the same thing. But the second half of DNA being better than the first? Come on lol. There's also more to the music than blasting it in the whip too Bruh.

He died when the album began, this album is basically a soundtrack to his life if he were to die today. It's supposed to sound depressing and unfinished. He's talking about how vain today's society is and how we lack morality and spirituality. It's an album to basically wake people up to what's happening around us

Obviously it isn't my favorite K dot album so far but at least let it sink and marinate for awhile before you start to reach and say the album is trash man. I hated ToPimpAButterfly when I first heard it but the more a listened to it the deeper love/respect for the album I had. Kendricks shit is an acquired taste and he's never going to give you the same material, it'll always change, you just have to respect what he's trying to do and understand where he's at in life for you to gain appreciation for what he's putting out there

I have a theory on that "Love" song. I think "Love" might be Kendrick's way of subliminally showing off to Drake like " I can do what you can do but you can't do what I do " bc we all know that lyrically Drake is nowhere near Kendrick's level. The album is not trash imo. But it is far from a 96 that is the consensus on Metacritic. I've just checked out the beats on this (haven't really delved lyrically yet) but it can't be a 96 off of pure lyrics man. DAMN is NOT To Pimp a Butterfly, and musically is at around 78 on a score from 0 to 100 for me. A lotta things this dude says in this video is on point, lotta boring shit, but trash? Nah.
