Also he startes by saying how “you hate the west coast” and then demonstrates how even drakes slang derived from the crips who are from the west coast. Man really dissed this man on so many levels😂
I'm pretty sure that, "you make music that pacify em" is more directly a reference to Drake's #1 Stan, Akademiks, falling asleep while listening to his album premiere on one of his live streams. The line that follows establishes the potential of the previous line as a double entendre. When he says, he can double down on that but he'll spare Drake for now, that was him eluding to there possibly being a second/deeper meaning to the first line.
I like to imagine J Cole thought he was gonna play in the kiddy pool only for kendrick or drake to come over and tell him that the party is moving to a 57m pool where they’ll drown him and he just said nah im good
@@Carbine64 these days i dont know if id use the word "love" anymore... Ever since they lost the aussie hottie and stopped winning trophies because the Kovacs suck in CS2, only one im supporting these days is m0nesy :>
Kendrick's not saying biracial people aren't black, he's saying that Drake doesn't come from Hip Hop culture and sells a commodified version of blackness while simultaneously never talking about black experiences or social justice, then wonders why he doesn't feel celebrated/accepted (he has openly spoken on this feeling in interviews). This in my opinion disqualifies him from ever being considered the greatest in hip hop.
You right, but as a mixed person myself he’s also saying that because he knows how self conscious Drake is about being biracial. If Drake actually accepted who he is and wasn’t sensitive about it, then I personally think that Kendrick wouldn’t have a problem with him being biracial at all.
I took the pacify line that drake doesnt talk about politics like Kendrick. Kendricks music energizes people, and drakes music pacifys the masses is how i took it
I’m pretty sure it’s an actually a triple entendre, one meaning being the one you commented about, another being the one atrioc talked about, and actually falling asleep, which references Akedemiks sleeping on stream to drakes album
8:45 is a reference to DMX saying he doesnt like drake and went on multiple interviews and people asked him if he likes drake, the most famous clips are from the breakfast club
I think a big part of why people are saying Drake has already won the beef is they like the way “push ups” sounds. And I get that. If you take away all of the context and are just judging what’s a better song like what would you rather have on at a party or just in the car, it’s not even close. But in the context of it being a diss, “Euphoria” has the edge.
@@-Saithe more I’ve heard people breaking down the songs and what seemingly throw away lines are referencing, the more I appreciate them. But I don’t think they really rank that highly in terms of all time greatest disses. Maybe they’ll grow on me over time.
Surprised to see this comment section not being a huge fan of what Kendrick dropped. Everyone I've seen talk about this beef says Kendrick washed Drake with this diss, and I'd agree.
anyone pretending that drake is even in the same conversation as kendrick lamar never really had much credibility to begin with. it's not surprising that they would have some bad takes here. I get how I come across here but come on. to pimp a butterfly is the top album of all time on multiple rating sites full of people who actually care about music. drake makes songs for the club and his main diss was that kendrick is short.
The part where Kendrick is saying “I hate the way you walk, etc.” is him quoting DMX from an interview where he basically said that word for word about Drake 😂
The line about not aiming the drac' low enough is a double entendre about the recoil of the gun kicking up when it fires. Essentially, if you aim at the head and try to shoot a draco, you are likely to miss high. By, 'aiming lower' the shots are more likely to hit the head.
I think the biggest criticism I would have for Kendrick right now is I always hate in rap beef when they hit you with the “oooh don’t keep pushing me, I’ve got some dark things about you I know that I could expose. Watch yourself pal!” Like either say it or don’t. Feels like an empty threat to me. However, I hope Kendrick is telling the truth and we get some nukes from both sides. According to Akademics, drake is already locked in making the response. This should be fun 🍿
yea it feels like a dumbass rap beef cold war where both sides keep saying I have some big stuff that I can reveal but neither one actual drops it because they are waiting for the one to do it first.
@@-Saiexactly. Like I said, I hope they’re telling the truth and there really is some bombshells to be dropped but I doubt it. After Pusha T dropped “Story of Adidon” drake said he didn’t want to respond because his response was gonna make things turn violent. He threatened that he had something huge over pusha. But clearly that was a lie to try to keep some dignity. I feel like this is the same thing again.
@@-Saiexactly. Drake did the same thing after Pusha T dropped story of adidon. He said his response was going to make things turn bloody. But that was clearly a lie to maintain some level of dignity. I feel like this is the same thing again.
@@-Sai he revealed that he cease and desisted "Like That" and he alleged to Drake being involved in a Toronto rapper's death, I dont think Rick revealed any of that unless I'm mistaken
@@gabrielhicks8043 oh yea i forgot the cease and desist thing, but did he allege that Drake was involved a hit? I thought that line was about Drake not being real to the street and Toronto gangs just being imitations of American culture.
@@-Sai the whole, "rick ross said it already" is a bad argument. Big A went over it on stream, Ross just got the stuff and leaked it first in a bad track, what's Kendrick going to do, find another hidden child?
@@-Sai theres a post on the Kendrick subreddit that breaks down a bar about a chinese restaurant in Toronto where that happened, thats where I got my info from
atrioc, i love this video. I’m a huge kendrick fan and this deep dive into the track explained a bunch of bars for me. kenny went so hard. also, people are saying that the “i hate the way” part is a reference to an old DMX interview.
Been watching you for almost 2 years now crazy to think because i think your the only youtuber who stays in my recommended year round ♥️ love you big A and glad you came back
Couple other things: Kendrick even timed the release, April 30 is the day of the Child Akademiks, who posts about hip hop news and is also a huge Drake fan, was featured on Drakes diss “Push Ups” when he said “what top 5 you smoking on Kendrick” however, that clip is also a meme in the Hip Hop and Twitch community, as that audio clip came from a Twitch livestream of him reacting to a new Drake album, and later falling asleep listening to it (if you haven’t, “Akedemiks what top 5 you smoking on Kendrick” it’s a really funny clip) Kendrick references him with the word “Act” which is a homophone for Ak, which is the shorter version of Akedemiks some people call him. It also ties in with the line after pacify, showing off how he can actually double down on that line. Might be a bit of a reach but 7:16 could also be referring to Beyonce and Jay
Whats crazy is that Atrioc still missed some of the more subversive disses. Like crodie is also the name of drakes cat, so in that entire sections hes also calling him a pussy, or the v12 line with the abs, v12 is a liposuction machine.
