Stevie's voice is also great with Tom Petty, on "Stop Draggin My Heart Around" and Don Henly "Leather And Lace". I suppose Stevie has done other duets, outside Fleetwood Mac, but these three together are the most famous ones I can remember.

That song was big when I was 12. Stevie was big from Fleetwood Mac fame and Kenny from logging and Messina. Great song, great singers, great harmonies, great memories. There were some super sweet songs in the 70's.

Congratulations, you nailed what this song is all about when you said it has a "family reunion" vibe. Kenny & Stevie got a chance to tour together, hung out & became friends just having a good time with one another. No romantic relationship, just buddies. Kenny co-wrote the song with singer-song writer Melissa Manchester & was originally going to do it with her, but some contractual obligations with her label got in the way. While touring together, Stevie said if he ever needed a "chick singer" to give her a call. He did & wel are all the benefactors. Just a really great pairing & great song 😁.

Stevie Nicks literally grew up learning to harmonize with a man. Starting at about five years old, she was singing with her uncle in clubs. Then in high school she sang in a band with Lindsay Buckingham. They eventually became a couple and spent almost all their free time writing music, singing and performing together. Then they got snapped up by Fleetwood Mac, originally just for Buckingham's guitar prowess, but the band noticed how beautifully Stevie wrapped her voice around Lindsay's. Added to Christine McVie's vocals, they created magic. The rest is history! :)

When this was released as a single, Stevie was not credited so it was considered Kenny Loggins’ first solo hit. (She was credited on the album, just not the single.) Fortunately, her voice is so distinctive that people realized it had to be her singing. I think the unusual sound she had made it possible for her to duet and harmonize with just about anyone. In addition to this, the Don Henley, and Tom Petty duets, Stevie has some lesser known duets with Sheryl Crow (Sorcerer) and Dave Smith (Cheaper than Free). Of course, the way Stevie’s voice melded with Lindsey Buckingham’s and Christine McVie’s is a major reason for Fleetwood Mac’s success. Each singer was distinctive and could carry the lead, but the combinations and harmonies made the band unique.

A lesser known song which was actually a huge hit in the summer of 1978 and features Stevie’s amazing vocals and Lindsey Buckingham on background vocals as well along with co-producing Walter Eagan’s “Magnet and Steel”. Some other subscribers mention “Gold” by John Stewart which features a great vocal from Stevie. Both songs are “reaction” worthy

I remember hearing this when it was a hit. A terrific and well crafted pop song. I love the interaction of the two vocalists. After more listenings I recognized the female singer from some other realm. Back then I didn’t know many artists names and faces. But I seemed quite familiar with the woman that sang on this and I came to the opinion I very much preferred her singing on ‘her’ music. I was actually longing for that music. This woman on this song seemed ‘out of place’ doing this music to me. Stevie said in an interview that Kenny Loggins worked with her for three days to get it right and it was hard to do. Even though Stevie’s vocals on this are sometimes stunning I prefer her raw and unrefined vocals and her words that I love so very much.

Back in the late 1970's to early 1980's she was the duet queen. She had at least 4 hits as a duet partner... I guess today she would be credited as "feat. Stevie Nicks" on a lot of these songs. These are the 4 that I can remember: Gold, with John Stewart Whenever I Call You "Friend", with Kenny Loggins Stop Draggin' my Heart Around with Tom Petty Leather and Lace with Don Henley

Hello. I stumbled across one of your reaction videos; don't ask me which one as I immediately fell down a rabbit hole and proceeded watching many others. I enjoy your videos because you listen to some great tunes and, more importantly, you do not interrupt the song to comment, waiting until only after the song is over to do so; I really appreciate that. Not knowing how else to get in touch, I figured I'd leave my comment/suggestions on your most recent upload. First thing I'd like to suggest is a train song theme: Blackfoot's 'Train, Train', from 1979; another is Procol Harum's 'Whiskey Train', from 1970, with Robin Trower on lead guitar; and finally Free's 'Catch a Train', from 1972. Also, you mentioned you think Tommy Bolin was a musical genius, an opinion with which I wholeheartedly agree. One song I suggest is from Deep Purple's 1975 album "Come Taste the Band", 'Drifter'. You mentioned you are a drummer and there are another few Bolin songs to choose from off of jazz drummer Billy Cobham's award-winning 1973 album "Spectrum" on which Bolin plays guitar on four cuts; the two he DIDN'T play on were 'Spectrum' and 'Les Lis'. You also mentioned Yes as being a genius group of very talented musicians; again, an opinion with which I have no beef. There is an instrumental album, from 1973, made by Yes' keyboardist, Rick Wakeman, titled "The Six Wives of Henry VIII". Any of those songs are worth reacting to, but I'd go with 'Catherine Parr'. The song is almost triumphant in tone as she managed to outlive Henry. Also, if you want to get into early Yes, and see a glimpse of where they were heading, a very good song is 'Time and a Word' off of their same-titled 1970 album. Anyway, that's my comment/suggestions. Thanks for the uploads.

When he sang this live back in the day they got a fill-in girl to sing, It was released as a Single by Kenny Loggins, his first hit. She had offered to help him out as a backup singer on an album and this song just got a little more than a Backup singer. Stevie and Lindsey sing back up on "Magnet and Steel" a song a lot of people know from Duece Bigalow Male Gigalo (however you spell it).

@kcronin7211
@kcronin7211 3 года назад
I think you'll find that it was Kenny hitting some of those higher notes on "Sweeeeeet..." I think Stevie is holding steady in her octave, but she's known more for emoting than her huge range. Kenny, on the other hand, did that wail at the beginning, and hits some amazing amazing high notes through his career. My fave of his is probably Heart to Heart because it's funky (for a white guy!) and so, so fun to sing along to.

For years, I use to get a shiver chill down my spine, literally, when Stevie held that long sustained note. Kenny Logins first tried to get Michael McDonald to do the duet with him, but Michael didn’t think it would work. Lucky for us, it was Stevie instead. This song always transports me back to the Summer of 1978 on Oahu. Another song that does the same thing is a great one to react to: Reminiscing by The Little River Band. Don’t react to the video out there on RU-vid because it’s not the original singer. React to the Studio version. Just a great song.

Taking emotion, favoritism, and memories of the songs or the singers out of the equation, Kenny's vocals are an 8.5 and Stevie's are about a 4. This is just a rational and albeit personal observation and some will disagree and that's fine. It's still totally okay to agree to disagree.
