Hi guys, ex-Columbus, and ex-Jets fan here, excited to see my boy Patty get to play in Montreal. Yes, I'm Finnish and follow Patty wherever he goes. I'm not ashamed to admit it. But out of all the possibilities I heard, Montreal seemed to me the best. St. Louis is a legend, and Habs have a young skillful lineup, but it's not so young that they couldn't be a contender. Let's go Habs.
Got bad locker rooms. Not anymore. Patrick asked for help, got married and traded to the best locker room. Now it's time to smile and score. Welcome to Montreal!
No kidding I mean he just traded Harris who I think was a third round pick for a second overall pick and got a second round pick from a team that will most likely finish low in the standings so that pick should be relatively high . The guy is a genius
As a Finn I always had a dream to see Laine in the Habs and now it really happened. Montreal is a mythical place for the Finns because we recognize it as the Mecca of Hockey. I'm super excited!! Laine seems to be super excited as well
P.s. A lot of people (not Montreal fans) said that Laine wouldn't want to be in Montreal, too much spotlight. But those people don't understand Laine at all. Laine loves the spotlight and tough situations, in U18, U20, WC, and in Jets in the playoffs as a 19-year-old, he shined in tough and bright situations. He wants to be a difference-maker. Yes, he is shy in a way, but he really wants to shine.
You cannot have a better place for a brigther spotlight, fans here will cheer him up, he will feel every bit of that loud crowd on the ice! Really hope he can be that difference maker we need!! We lost the most one goal game in the entire NHL last year, Dach and Laine can really put them up there for a playoff spot🙌🏽🤞🏽
WoW… Hugo impresses us once again with a great trade bringing the excitement of the summer to a high. A NO LOOSE trade. Harris had no place left in MTL, and we get a second rounder that can easily replace the loss of at a position Habs are loaded with young talent. 2 years to evaluate a potentiel star and give Laine a new life in the NHL. Habs still have lots of cap space to go get another forward next summer before Demidov arrives in Sept 2025. I am very happy for Harris who will get to play regular and be closer to home.
Great move traded Harris that was going to be odd man out on the defense and got Liane and a second round pick. A great move and if it doesn't work he's out in 2 yrs with zero cost and everything to gain
If he was really going to go he would have gone back to Columbus in this exchange maybe. It's a hard contract to move. I think they'll endure it as long as they can work around his contract.
yes, but slaf is top line winger hands down so would work unless you willing to put suzuki on your second line. if not you keep slaf and suzuki together then take your pick of winger... caufield, laine, dach, newhook, demidov. but end of last season suzi and slaf had better chemistry than suzi and caufield
Go habs Go. Justement j'y pensais vla 2 semaines. Pourquoi pas aller chercher Big Pat. Nice move. Pour Harris, c'était lui où Baron. En plus du choix, Great Move...
If you want to go to the next level, you will need an elite assistant coach. Not a future coach....only an assistant and probably the best. Gallant. Think about it.
It's honestly pretty good, there's gonna be a some words he doesn't know and he has an obvious accent, but that's normal. But sometimes he says expressions that have me very impressed 😅
Everything the others mentioned is correct, funnily enough, if you listen closely to him speaking English, there’s a subtle French accent creeping up sometimes. 😂
Genius... lawyer. Did bergevin finish high-school? Because you played for 20 yrs does not qualify you to be a GM. All Geoff's fault. We had the best goalie in the world. No Cup.
Very good trade for both teams. Jordan Harris will become a very good defenceman. Funny, we might miss him. It's a Lekhonen type trade. But this time, the habs gets a great return. Didn't give Harris for free...kept his assets....it was an offer that he couldn't refuse. Excellent trade!
I've been one of Patty's biggest fans from Winnipeg days and I believe a large part of his mental breakdown was because he lost his dad very suddenly about 2 years ago. His dad was his biggest support... and I would 100% agree to surround him with caring folks in Montreal...
Good job Kent! And to the Canadiens media crew: whatever solution you're using for the subtitles it's not cutting the mustard, very hard to follow without full audio. Albeit there was some unintentional comedy seeing a large portion of Renaud's question just say "Mishmash".
12 picks for 2025 and already 9 for 2026 , plus they entered each of their last 4 drafts with 12 picks , after 2025 that’ll make it 5 years in a row with 12 picks ! Odds are Montreal will or already have drafted some pretty talented guys
This move will turn into more moves, even if dvlorak and Armia walk next year , it’s still not enough for that Guhle and Slafkovsky raise that starts next year
@@disinformationworld9378 Sorry, what Eric actually said was "Montreal has minimal interest in Laine". So yeah, he can eat some crow. Basu on the other hand thought otherwise...He usually does.
To me Laine probably didn’t want to be in a rebuilding culture. Montreal is really trying to win every night and get out of rebuilding asap and you can tell.
Now this could be the 3rd line if healthy Armia-Evans-Dvorak , now that’s as good as any third shut down line in the league , I would resign Armia as his defensive play and amazing attitude is worth every penny he makes Next project for Hughes has to be Anderson and Gallagher
@@ferociousfil5747 the way he was treated this year and ended up with the best shot % on the team and 2nd for goals per game on the team while being one the the best penalty killing winger in the league and all that for 3.4 millions is unreal, some fans still thinks he’s overpaid and they want him out🤦♂🤦♂
Did anyone else try to get him? We didn't give up a lot but we did take on the full cap hit which is what Columbus wanted, someone could have beat our offer if they really wanted him.
I don't know if Jets GM was in the bidding for Laine this time but I can say with full enthusiasm that at least half to 3/4 of the fan base in Winnipeg wanted him to come back here, and I was the biggest cheerleader of them all. And in 2 years, I'm hoping our GM goes forth with full barrels to bring him back to Winnipeg if he gets to UFA.
@@phyllis5256 i would wish you best of luck , but i believe kent extends him next offseason for another 4-6 years, at a discounted price, laine is buying into the hype and the process of the new habs management! if not i hope he gets back to you in winnipeg
It will be good exactly what you are worried about will also be what helps Laine to fit in. This team is progressive and has Respect from top to bottom. If Laine fails here he will never make it anywhere.
6,5 man that can score goal and I feel many possibility of player that fit with him but slaf was good on the second line before the injury so imagin caufeild - suzuky - Laine how explosif that can be
although he was a cancer in 2 teams this could be his last shot in NHL and he is with the best team to help him achieve it. 2026 2nd rounder excellent bonus.. Harris will succeed in Columbus but is at the botton of the pack on Montreals dman list and his offensive upside is almost nil so good for him as well.... this could be a fleecing for Montreal if Laine pans out but he is with a group of players. coach and management who will give him a chance to shine.. so newhook, dach and Laine on 2nd line gives Montreal 2 great lines. Montreal has gotten bigger at 6 foot 5 inches and 215 bings great size we needed
Well, as a Jets fan, I would have to disagree entirely about the "cancer" part in Winnipeg. He came to our team at age of 18, and we absolutely loved him... and likely about 3/4 of our fans were hoping fervently that we'd get him back from Columbus this summer... there were people on the team who were, let's say, not helpful for his development, (both coaches and teammates) and it turned into jealousy from some of the older players and it unfortunately left Patty on the outside looking in. We loved him and still do, he gets a heroes welcome when he comes into our arena, every single time.
You know so much. Im sure you know how he got bullied out of the Jets. He probably only plays fortnite. Most likely why he trid to kill himself? Stfu you know nothing
You must be a Leafs fan that is upset all your money is tied up on 4 players. No really you got a high caliber player for Harris. If it doesn't work he's out in 2 years
