In this episode we delve head first in to the Kentville Drums Kangaroo Hyde snare drum head.
There was a entirely different intro but I decided to pull it last minute, man it was funny.

I love them . I don’t care about tuning as I do it anyway pre show etc . I am waiting on a new cob 60 s snare & thinking about going for the thinner ( more exxy ) one to see if it really opens up the drum . Probably get some thicker ( normal ) for bass drums . I now play unported so the air & bottom end , rebound etc will be interesting. I’m in Sydney btw . They are great for press rolls too . Diligence with seating them I think is important . Thanks 🙏

I am going to try some more when I can get my hands on them.

The thing that catches my ear is the unique attack the head has. It almost sounds more "natural" in a way. We're all used to mylar heads having an ever so slight "plastic" sound to them, that this is so pleasing to the ear.

I would go the medium or even light weight to get more sensitivity from the drum.

@@IAMDRUMMER The possibilities seem endless then! I'd be curious to hearing a full kit outfitted with these. But, I'd imagine that can't be cheap.

I'm about to order heads for my '68 Premier (pre-international toms) and after listening to this I'm thinking that a heavyweight would sound great on my Ludwig Supra.

I think you are spot on and that Supra will sound absolutely killer.

Roo heads are amazing and so close to cow hide it's incredible.

From the first hit I went "Whoa". Playing with brushes must sound like a dream. Do you find that the heavyweight kangaroo at 14 mil feels the same as a mylar 14 mil head?

Brushes are amazing on this head, I left it out of the video as the audio....well it sucked.
