The only mistake that’s been made here is linking it to the W900. Had it been called a W700 or something people wouldn’t be so butt hurt thinking they’re going to stop making the W900. I’ve been told by kenworth that as long as people keep buying the W900 they will keep making it! I am considering buying one of these for myself. I’ve always loved the W900 styling but I was put off by the economy and old interior. With this one it’ll be a lot more economical to run and has the modern cab features to make life more comfortable on the road. This truck isn’t ugly, it’s a completely different truck than the W900 and will find it’s place alongside it
Oh my God...this is all thanks to idiots in power pushing new fuel mileage regs and stupid shit no one who buys a long hood truck cares about. I'm only 24 but bought my W9L in January when I was still 23 because they're what I grew up loving and if this seriously going to be what replaces it eventually, then the value of W900L's are going to skyrocket, similar to how 99 and older ELad exempt trucks did when elogs became mandatory. So I'll stick to keeping my W9 that was built in 99 lol this was an utter fail on Paccar's part I believe. Damn dumbasses in office pushing crap no one cares about.
everything looks fine but the headlights those headlights need to go its like a mack and a volvo headlights put together sorry it just doesn't look good but everything else looks good, I just hope you keep the w900l goin don't get rid of a legend

Yep, just like the cab and all are the same for the T660, T800 and W900 with a few other things that are different. What Kenworth is doing with the 2.1meter cab is the same thing they've done with the 1.9 meter cab. It's the same concept and the W990 just goes along with the new generation of Kenworth trucks, the T680 and T880. I guess people are forgetting or failing to realize that. Some are gonna like the W990 and some aren't, it is what it. It's all about picking the truck that you like and that best works for you.
So let’s. Get a bunch of new generation. Wanna be drivers to design a truck that looks like a western star and. Freightliner. Made a baby. KW was always a stand alone large car not a go cart. With bells and whistles. WTH. Yeaup where did trucking go.
Y’all complain about everything. If you don’t like it don’t get it. If you want a w900 get it even though majority of everyone in the comments couldn’t even afford either one of those trucks.
WOW!! I own a T700 so I’am a KW fan, but to be real it’s (ALMOST) not ugly. The cab is fine but the main issue to me that could improve the truck to start is those OVER SIZED headlights Jesus!! And the grill looks like a version of the International classic truck grill and the air breathers mounted on the side is missing some details in the design so to me this just doesn’t look worthy to carry the W9 or W990 name and I hate to say this but Freightliners Coronado and International Lone Star got the design balance right with the best of both worlds
Hope the hood will withstand the Alcan highway and 50 below temp as did the w900, I run the 900 for years on the Alcan and even wrote K.W. a note thanking them for the well built truck. Means a lot more not to freeze to death than worrying about the curve of the damn fenders. If your new hood will not stand the pounding it will be in the junk yard with all the 379's
Oh let them other drivers talk smack, I'll take the Oculus truck exactly as it sits. Since I already own and drive an International Eagle, I'd feel right at home in one of these. Now the part about winning the Mega-Millions to pay for one, now that's the real question.
If I can get this truck with a two piece windshield and standing vertical wipers I'm totally in, even though I hadn't planned to buy a brand new truck and I was going to just keep driving my Cascadia until the wheels come off of it. I'd really like to know if vertical standing windshield wipers are an option on The W990, because that would really be extremely classic and would get some trucks moving out of the door?
no way it looks too much like a western star or even a Volvo ill never ever purchase a tractor which has a automatics just wont happen.i dont even use cruise control so when the w9s are too old then ill just retire...i dislike the 680 990 not worth my hard earned money...
Hey Mr design director. How about manufacturing sun visors that work, how about installing windshield squirters that actually work and a reservoir that holds 3 or 4 gallons of wash fluid. How about fixing the forever problem with the cab HVAC thermostat control. Every PACCAR product ever made, after approximately 350K miles has problems with the heat in the winter. It stops having a heat range on the knob. It's either burn your ass out hot or its cold, no in between. Oh I know, there is a new invention called auto dimming outside mirrors. Cars have had them for ions. Yet PACCAR does not. The lack of working sun visors in your products is a HUGE pain in a drivers butt. Are their any seasoned drivers in Design???????
The 990 means biz! I love it. I am going to buy one. I’m also gunna customize the shit outta it keeping it flashy and respectable by all. It’s a beautiful truck, I just wish you could customize the blue stitching color it comes with. Why they didn’t use RED is beyond me! Blue is not even in their logo! WTF?
@@semiretired6033 No I'm not, when the T880's came out it was a bold and new design and some didn't like it either. I'm all about bold and new design and something totally different. So yes, I would definitely drive this truck.
@@semiretired6033 Not afraid of change or something new or even different. I the type of person if everyone going to like something cause it's the norm, I'm going to be the oddball. If my boss was to give me a option for a new truck this just might be that option. We all have a opinion to like and dislike and not everyone is gonna like the W990. Don't get me wrong, love the W9. Just not a fan of the narrow cabs anymore more, especially after being it the T880 style cabs for almost 5 years.
Its better than the Old-classy-funke W900, good job done I think. More aero is good thing, can You build them better? the quality of works is not as good as it was, the trucks brake to often , Kenworth needs to make the trucks last longer be more dependable. TH
When he said continuing the legacy. I hope he doesn't mean replacing the W900 with this. Look, the W900 design is just too damn good to throw away. If they discontinue the W900 line it will be the dumbest decision kenworth will ever make. The same goes for Peterbilt do NOT! stop making the EXHD Pete. Not all of us like driving those short drop nose, fugly ass peices of shit. I (And no I don't like the W990. You could give me that truck. But I would sell it immediately for a W900L or buy another Peterbilt 379 EXHD.)
Let's face it,us largecar lovers are unfortunately becoming extinct. Kenworth isn't interested in our very small percentage of the market. They want to sell volumes to owners who just want drivers to haul freight. Just keep maintaining your classic trucks, they're better anyway. These corporate types will never get it, because it's all about profits.

KW wants to put another model out fine and well but none of this shit is continuing the W900L , the only truck that will continue the W900L is the W900L itself , it's the only truck anymore alongside the Pete 389 that still looks like an American truck , damn American trucks are going to shit more and more
Honestly I want to like the truck, but I just can't. Looks like they crossbread a T680 with a W9 and probably doesn't even have that much improvement on fuel mileage. Might as well get a W9 and know it looks good and less fuel mileage than to get that ugly piece of shit and only get .2 extra miles per gallon. What a joke..
The last real one was an 03 w900l with a Cummings f**k paccar leaves u broke down on the side of rd give me the old dash with the toggles an real fuel pedal this is definitely the end for kw an all trucks being real this is why so many people are hanging up there keys regan an elog to come on fuel price goes up everyday everyone needs to park there trucks for a month to force a change with trucks an regulations
Paccar is gearing up to eliminate production of the KW W900 and Peterbilt 389 within the next couple years. So if you want one of those iconic trucks better buy one soon because they are about the way to go of the dinosaur unfortunately.
Mike Barbacovi I hope this is not true for the w900 as for the peterbilt 389 I heard recently that the 389 is selling like hot cakes right now and is a huge seller for peterbilt. I heard that in an interview with peterbilt steve
They are all built for short legged drivers that ride the with the seat aired all the way up. My 2019 T680 sucks because of the closet, you can't move the seat back. Or you can but must sit 90° like 👉🏾L. Just swap sides and put that closet behind the passenger side guys come on!! W9 best truck for taller guys. (They need air steer axles as an option MHC-PACCAR- KENWORTH CATCH UP!) so please for the love of all stop with the touch screen garbage, collision mitigation and annoying lane departure. Get one electronic thing rite before you start standardizing the other useless crap. The beeping, the welts on my neck from the seat belt, and auto emergency braking make me hate the day! Ok, bye. Which way to the 389's man smh
